Server Space // CommunityposeidonJun 1, 2002, 2:13pm
Hey all,
do any of you know where I can get a good amount of server space, for an object path, to the point where the cost is not insane? I am tryin to upload portions of the AW Megapath, including some custom objects, avs, and textures. Any information is welcome :) Thanks! Poseidon strike rapierJun 1, 2002, 2:35pm
www.topcities.com
if u put on at least 1 website HTML doc.. ur fine# 150mb space, infinate transfer, inf bandwidth 1mb upload limit per file [View Quote] silencedJun 1, 2002, 2:43pm
If it allows php, you can probably use ananas' multipath php and just
hotlink to the megapath then use your own object path there. --Bowen-- Have $3... want a website? http://www.smartpenguin.com/affiliate.php?id=12 [View Quote] dionJun 1, 2002, 2:44pm
http://www.hostingaccountservice.com
It has 500MB space, 5GB per month bandwidth, mysql, and a lot of other crap that you don't really care about for an OP. Only $35 per year, but that doesn't include the domain which you can buy at www.godaddy.com for $9 a year :-) The server is pretty quick, too. They host www.cuttingboards.ca [View Quote] glitter bugJun 1, 2002, 2:58pm

but today .... let me know when the community gets a more helpful attitude. Glitter [View Quote] poseidonJun 1, 2002, 3:00pm

Poseidon,
Give me a gram sometime, I might be able to give you some free space. -JerMe -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy Booker JTech Web Systems (www.JTechWebSystems.com -- Coming Soon) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [View Quote] pc hamsterJun 2, 2002, 2:00am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Hey Dion....Those aren't bad prices dude!!! :-) If there aren't any strings attached with getting my own domain (e.g. additional cost), I just may look into this for my own use. I don't use PHP, but I have a lot of multimedia stuff in Real & Windows Media format. It'd be GREAT if I can keep all of it on the respective sites and not scatter them all over helter-skelter like I'm having to do with Tripod (I'm having to get a matching account for each of my radio stations plus my little ol' online TV station on Angelfire just to get the additional space :-( ). Thanks for letting us know 'bout this place :-) Cheers for now everyone :-) Patrick Cook Mayor - City of Hamsterville Owner - Pub 102X pchamster at msn.com Denver, Colorado pc hamsterJun 2, 2002, 2:05am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] > let me know when the community gets a more helpful attitude. I don't think was warranted and quite frankly Glitter, I think it was uncalled for. An example of this is Dion's post. If his post wasn't helpful, then WHAT *is* to you??? Feel free to reply AFTER you've had your morning cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast - PLEASE... Patrick glitter bugJun 2, 2002, 3:02am
I have now had my morning coffee and breakfast and I still feel p****ed off
with AW. Can I be honest yet or do I still have to be politically correct like the rest of the sheep? Glitter > [View Quote] johnny bJun 2, 2002, 12:14pm
Being " P.C. " never stopped anyone HERE from bashing the crap out of
someone........ Go ahead Glitter, their opinions are no more valuable than yours. Everyone's got a right to post theirs.... Be a bit more interesting than going through the myriad of useless " Hey, why doesnt such and such work...... next post : NM........ I actually READ the instructions " posts..... But be warned..... prepare to get slammed by SOMEONE..... this IS aw and trolls abound :O/ JB kahJun 2, 2002, 1:54pm

Can I be honest yet or do I still have to be > politically correct like the rest of the sheep? Start with yourself, freak. If you want the community to be helpfull, then BE helpfull! If everyone is like you and say "I won't be helpfull before everyone else is", then nobody will be helpfull! Just because you didn't get 500 replies with a solution to your problem with SEQs, doesn't mean the community isn't helpfull, and that thing about old computers was actually an attempt at being helpfull, giving you a possible explanation (you never mentioned your system specs before, so don't complain) for the problem. You obviously don't care about the reason for the problem, which is that the SEQ engine has been changed, and it is stated in the 3.3 help that there could be some trouble, so if you'd RTFMed, you'd had to probably reason already. Anyway, this is the community NG, not the support NG, if you want support with AW, send a mail to support at activeworlds.com, don't expect the community to have an answer for you! Stop being so selfish! KAH glitter bugJun 2, 2002, 2:15pm
I've been making free seqs for people over the last few weeks and my first
negative response was from someone for whom I'd made 3 seqs .... you tell me who was helpful! I know the engine changed, I knew that weeks ago .... but that doesnt help anyone fix the problem. If YOU'D bother to read you'd know that already. Did the support email already ... no one has replied yet. I thought I'd try the community only to discover it wasnt much of a community. You don't like my opinion ... don't read it. I don't care for yours and won't bother reading it in future. Gotta love choice. Glitter [View Quote] pc hamsterJun 3, 2002, 11:54pm
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] I agree 1,000,000% with KAH on this one Glitter. Besides, I was *mostly* responding to this statement made by you in your original post.... "let me know when the community gets a more helpful attitude" (Note that I quoted you so don't complain!) Like I said....If Dion's post wasn't very ehlpful, then WHY would I bother responding so favorably to it when I brought up some of the other things I do on the 'net??? To be brutally honest, Dion's info was probably what Poseidon was looking for. Did you even *consider* that or was your head stuck up your a*s???? I think most everyone here can understand your beef against AWcom (afterall WHO *doesn't* have one?). But by bashing the AW Community (particularly those like Dion, who was simply trying to be of some help), you will not only have bad Customer Care from AWcom, but you'll also have a bad rap in the Community TO BOOT!!! Having said all that Glitter, why don't you just take what little dignity you have left and crawl back under the rock where you came from where you can wallow in your own self pity all you want and LEAVE US ALONE!!! Just my $1,000,000.00 worth.... Cheers for now everyone (except Glitter who's probably wallowing in self pity by now!) :-) Patrick Cook Owner - Pub 102X Mayor - City of Hamsterville pchamster at msn.com Denver, Colorado poseidonJun 5, 2002, 11:06am
Hi all,
Well I myself believe that Dion was very helpful! I used his source, and bought server space, and a domain from the site he suggested. It was so helpful... in fact, that I was able to get that huge mega path, and all of the custom objects I needed, up on a website. Also, thank you to everyone else like Strike who suggested some free sites :) Cheers, Poseidon [View Quote] the joker ssJun 5, 2002, 12:09pm
