Hi everyone:

To anyone who STILL doubts that Tourist and expired cit builds won't be
deleted, you should point your browser to 4963N 124E. You will notice that
the blue building which was a tourist build I had intended to take over,
renovate and finish is NOW GONE!!!! A piece of AW history (albeit a tourist
build) DELETED by a corproation that says one thing and does something else
entirely.

Thank you AWcom - NOT!!!! :-(

You KNEW I had FULL intentions of taking over that build and renovating and
finishing it. EVERYONE knew it. Perhaps that's what I get for shooting my
mouth off. I dunno. But the fact remains that I had placed signs and
flagpoles at the north and west end of the building and and adjusted the
road to go around the build. And YET YOU STILL DELETED IT!!!!

I consider this to be an act of CORPORATE TERRORISM!!!! It will NOT be
tolerated. While I cannot take any legal action, you can rest assured that
the AW Community IS hearing about this as this is also being posted to the
Community and Worldbuilders groups (Community - AW Support is getting a copy
of this via email).

Now, some of you might say "What are you complaining about?? Build it
somewhere else or build it yourself". The fact remains I had FULL
INTENTIONS of making it MY building. I just had to merely duplicate it so I
can legally bypass Building Inspector. This is something I every intention
of starting on when I logged on today only to find that it's NO LONGER
THERE!!!!!!

As such, and as Mayor of the City Of Hamsterville, I am declaring a State Of
Virtual Emergency. This means that if anyone wishes to build a City Hall
and/or City Jail, there are more than welcome to do so. As for the present
site, I think it's only appropriate that ONLY a "virtual vespers cathedral"
of some kind to be built there to honor our fallen cits as this happens. A
2nd Memorial build can also be built there as well. Although at this point
in time, I am open to suggestions.

The signs shall remain the way they are and the flagpoles shall remain in
place and the road will remain in its present state until something more
definitive is decided. At this point in time, I'm not really in much of a
mood for speculation as to what might happen. I will however add a mailbox
where one can drop me a line via email.

I'm sure anyone has a build of any kind anywhere near 4963N 124E is no doubt
deeply saddened by this TRAGIC loss of AW history. That building was a WORK
OF ART. All it needed was someone to come along to finish it.

I shall be on AW GZ if anyone wishes to pass along their condolences. You
can telegram me if you don't find me on AW GZ.

Once again, a tourist build at 4963N 124E has been deleted, and I have
little doubt (VERY little) that similar builds in other towns were also
lost. My sympathies go out to those other town which also lost similar
builds.

If you think I'm just being irrational (looking more towards Brant than
anyone else) - THINK AGAIN!!!! It's happened in Hamsterville and it CAN
happen (if it hasn't already) to your town as well.

In the meantime...I look forward to youn replies and/or telegrams (please no
tar, feathers or flames at me. A polite message will do the trick just as
effectively).

Alright, you are taking this way too far. AWC did not delete "your"
building, it was some little kid that had the only intention of pissing you
off. Anyways, what makes you think you can just take over a building
anyways? Just because a tourist built it, and it can be deleted, doesn't
mean you have to take it and claim it as your own (meaning plastering your
name all over it). I have come across tons of tourist builds, but I have
never claimed one as my own to try and "save" it. Converting a building made
by a tourist is destroying history just as much as someone deleting it. Oh,
and I repeat, it was not AWC that deleted it, nor their fault. Calm down,
make a new one, your own new one, and be happy.

Tourist builds are MEANT to be temporary, taking them over by plastering up
a few signs is not going to save it from AWC if they choose to remove
tourist builds from the data base they will do so without even seeing the
build. Nor from any one else and why should it? Tourist builds are like
shareware, they get some privileges of the browser without all, and the
privilege of having a permanent build dosent look like even remaining one
that citizens THAT PAY can enjoy.

If you want to blame some one, blame yourself for telling every Tom Dick and
Harry about your intentions, I seem to recall you even posted coords at one
stage..... May as well posted an Invitation * Come and delete this tourist
build*

Umm.... ANYONE can delete tourist builds (duh!)
I don't defend AW Corp., as can be seen from my last posts, but I'll tell you I seriously doubt they went to delete "your" tourist
build.

well considering you did announce that there was a tourist build near your
city im pretty sure someone decided to piss you off and deleted it, and if
you have a good amount of visitors in your town i dont think anyone wouldnt
notice it. Trust me there are many people who delete any tourist builds they
see for no reaon but thats just the way it goes.

Just this afternoon right brfore you came to AW GZ with your accusations of
AWCom destroying "your" tourist build there was an admission by one of the
regular "punks" that hang out there and at AWTeen that he had been out
deleting tourist builds. Thats probably what happened to the build you're so
concerned about. Since as pointed out in another post here....you gave out
the coords in open chat ??? what were you thinking ???

lol. Did you read the Help files or did you forget tourist builds can be
deleted by ANYONE. Why would AWC waste your time deleting tourist builds?
Think.

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] You guys are all probably right. Perhaps it *was* just some punk a**
teenager with nothing more to do than to ruin other people's work and
destroy a piece (albeit a *small* one at that) of AW history. And posting
the coords. in the newsgroups wasn't exactly the smartest thing in the world
either. However though, I will agree with SubDelta that it's probably
something we *shouldn't* put past AWcom to do and with the server move
taking place at the same time, it certainly would've been an ideal time for
AWcom to do it since AW was *technically* offline for a whole day).. But
right now it appears as though the latter isn't very likely.

As such, I hereby PUBLICLY apologize to AWcom for any false accusations
based SOLELY out of presumption. Had I been a little more wiser, I would
have simply kept the tourist build find to myself and NOT hurled accusations
towards AWcom for deleting a build. I would've also duplicated the build in
an area which would not be considered enchroaching by Building Inspector so
if the tourist build WAS deleted by some punk a** teenager, I wouldn't have
lost a thing (including my temper :-)) and all I would have had to do was
simply re-adjust the road.

In any case....One can only chalk it up to lessons learned. :-)

Cheers for now my friends :-)

Do you always have to assume it was some punk- at $$ teenager? I know a few
older people who have vandelized before.

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] Touche my friend. :-) However though I *do* believe the keywords were
"punk a**". Specifically I was referring to those teenagers who choose to
spend more time defacing and destroying land or property rather than
CONTRIBUTING to IMPROVE the land. I think it's safe to say with a fair
amount of certainty that not all teenagers in the AW Community fall into
this category.

With that said, would the owner of cit no. 58751 PLEASE remove your signs in
front of the Hamsterville Police Station at 4968N 130E. The point in those
signs is WELL taken and as you will notice, construction of the police
station HAS begun, however I need those signs removed so I can function. I
will also begin work on City Hall and the Town Square hopefully tomorrow as
well (PLEASE DO **NOT** MOVE THE SIGNS OVER THERE!!). I hate to give out
cit numbers like this, but since I don't know who this number belongs
to.....

Also, will the owner of the same cit number please remove the "p" in
"Hampsterville" in the Free Speech area too?? This would be much
appreciated. :-)

Is this your first time running a town? It strikes me weird that you're
saying all these things that an unexperienced newbie would. The solution to
your vandalism problem by that unknown cit is that you should've covered ALL
your land. There's nothing you can do now but plead with your life, because
its no fault of anyone beside your own. Good luck.

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] Yes it is Norny. I have to admit it. And to Chris, I'll fill one out if I
have to, but I'm gonna give this person a chance to remove the signs
voluntarily or explain to me (via email) if they would like the land (I
think after the original debacle which this thread is based on, it would be
bad PR if I wasn't at least somewhat objective and open-minded).

Hi everyone:

Just an update that while the error in the town name spelling still exists
(which isn't really a big deal BTW), the main thing is those signs in front
of the Police station are now gone. I can now resume construction of the
station. :-)

[View Quote] Thanks Goober! :-)

However though it should be noted that I now have a new city jail for my
town (thanks to Tom Huston for his time and effort) and am now adding the
finishing touches to the jail (namely an electric fence) and am building the
town police station. Soon I will start on City Hall and should have the
Town Square built perhaps while taqking breaks from building the Police
station (it will be little more than a large park with plenty of room to
hold festivals and such). So, suffice to say, Hamsterville *is* being built
(albeit slowly and amid much recent negative publicity). Soon it will be
ready for registration (I hadn't done so before now because all it was was
merely a network of roads which are linkable to other roads. Hardly worth
Goober's, or anyone else's time or resources).

With that said, can we all just simply forget this thread exists??? The
Virtual Emergency is over and life has returned to normal. Yours Truly (me)
has learned a lesson or two and although I still refuse to take the time to
figure out how to work a bot (at least at this time :-)), the town is being
built. It will just simply take longer. Of course, the longer the empty
land is left uncovered, the bigger the chances are that someone will build
on it. To which I say WELCOME TO HAMSTERVILLE!!! :-)

TRANSLATION - Good things come to those who wait. :-) Also, the town has
CITIZENS!!! :-)

Now, I hate to post and run, but it's time for me to get back to
building..... :-)

Cheers :-)
