Hi everyone:
BRAVO Anduin!!!! I agree with you 1000000%. :-) Patrick P.S.: I've never found anything offensive in the Gor Worlds either and I believe there IS an Age Check bot of some sort in one of them (can't remember which one though) which DOES ask you your age. I dunno if it actually ejects you (I don't think it does). [View Quote] Re: 3.3 Feature listMay 10, 2002, 5:55am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Yeah....Question is though - For HOW LONG??? With AWcom's current budget, it certainly can't be very long IMHO... > The feature lists in this version would even impress Eep, if he was still > around (which he fortunately isn't) - perhaps the price increases changed > the emphasis in AW's development to the user instead of the "corporate > partners." This should have been AW's PRIORITY objective FROM DAY ONE rather than throwing together some "virtual mall" which I doubt very many people even knew EXISTED (let alone WENT TO) and thinking they'd just get dirty freakin' "filthy rich" off that "mall" (yeah right! Makes me wonder just how many bridges they're bartering on eBay) while treating US - THEIR USERS like the CRAP we've been "treated to" over the past several months (Granted some people more so and longer than others, but still). This is EXACTGLY why I continue to boast about Live365 because THEY *know* where they'd be without their users. That is OUT OF BUSINESS & IN DEBT PAYING OFF LEGAL BILLS!!! And if AWcom doesn't watch it, THEY will be "out of business" *themselves* before long (And AW only has to worry about NetBroadcaster.com being exposed to the CARP). This release even includes improved security in ejections, which > I feel has been by far the most lacking aspect of the browser - this will > save AW (as well as myself, the peacekeepers, and every other world > caretaker) a heck of a lot of trouble in dealing with pranksters. One feature *I'd* like to see (BTW....Why wasn't this thread cross-posted onto WISHLIST until now?? Found that to be kinda strange) is mass DELETION capabilities. It's funny though how we can just simply hit CTRL+INSERT and not only duplicate but also place an object in sequential place, but yet you can't DELETE objects in the same manner. Is it just me not hitting the right keys (like SHIFT+DELETE) or is this just yet another MUCH NEEDED improvement left out of 3.3??? > Unlike Goober King, I never had any doubt that AW would be around at least > for a while - my concern was what state the universe would be in after a few > months. That still remains to be seen, but the features in 3.3 are a step > in the right direction. I took a perhaps more subtle "wait and see" approach myself, however though I too had the same concern you did Brant (among other things at the time). But youi are right. We shouldn't complain too loudly (who knows - Morfe features just may be added when the final product comes out) and it *is* a step in the right direction. :-) Just my $.02 worth...Cheers for now everyone :-) Patrick Cook Mayor - City of Hamsterville pchamster at msn.com Denver, Colorado Re: 3.3 Feature listMay 17, 2002, 2:06am

Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Speaking as a 3DHP Owner, I have to agree with KAH on this one as I'm not too keen on this WhoIs festure either. However though, in the event of major abuse or harrassment problems, it *would* be nice to have at the server side 'cause then this way the server can dig into the world or 3DHP log files to view previous ejections and give the owner the OPTION to have his ISP automatically contacted. But even then, this should ONLY be used ONLY in the event of multiple ejections. However, the drawback to this concept is that it's also a target for misuse and/or abuse BY THE OWNER and I'm sure the LAST thing an ISP wants to do is terminate someone's account simply because the world or 3DHP Owner doesn't like their client due to personal reasons. The ISPs have better things to do asnd worry about than some petty feud betweeen two people. If this isn't a contradictory post, I dunno what is. :-) *LOL!* Anyhow...Just my $.02 worth..... Hi everyone:
It it just me or am I left alone in wondering WHY we have the complex capabilities of chatting in 3D, yet we *don't* have (what SHOULD be!) THE SIMPLEST feature such as paragraph sentencing in telegrams??? I mean it's kinda awkward whednn you're trying to send a telegram, but yet PROOF READING it to ensure you've including everything you wanted to say or to check for spelling errors is like reading the legalese fine print on a document. I can't evedn imagine what it's like for the person trying to READ the darned thing. There should also be a SEPERATE pop up window that contains the actual telegram. A sound file or a message to the world bot (or even using the current Operator - if not a combination of all three) can (still) be used to inform the person they have a telegram. The world bot (or the nearest closest bot in case of AW towns) can then whisper to the user that there's a telegram waiting for them (the user) unless the user sees the Operator message (which isn't hard to miss in a crowded area) For bot owners, it would be like the bot having a "contact list" of its own. Plus it could act as a meassenger. Kinda cool, eh??? Comments??? Tar??? Feathers??? Flames??? ALL OF THE ABOVE??? *GASP!* :-) Patrick MUCH NEEDED WISH - Paragraph Capabilities In TelegramsJul 19, 2002, 5:51am

[View Quote] I have to agree with Dion on this one. If this were allowed, it'd *also* be just our luck for some script kiddie TROLL to write a bot capable of doing this very thing using spoofed cits or (even worse!) EXPIRED cits. And just HOW would they acquire such things you say??? AlphaWorld is FILLED with builds and other objects laid down by people who, for one reason or another, are NO LONGER with us OR have rejoined using a new (at that time) cit name (which is their current cit). OTOH...I just had ANOTHER idea hit me. More on that in another thread... :-) Cheers for now :-) Patrick P.S.: There's also services such as Yahoo! Groups just in case I, as a mayor, needed to get a hold of the City Council for something, it could be done via a CLOSED list in which ONLY myself and other appropriate city personnel could be notified by email :-) I'm sure many other towns use these services too... :-) Okay whoever it was who was talking about different VRT times...I have the solutionJul 19, 2002, 6:27am

Hi everyone:
As I mentioned earlier, another BRILLIANT idea just hit me. Now, we all know there a few of us who've had, over the course of time, more than one cit, which in turn means more than one cit. ID #, right??? What IF AWI (AWI is the new ActiveWorlds, Inc. for those not in the know BTW :-)) were to somehow ask if a person, when they apply for citizenship, if they've EVER had a cit before and, if so, to please list either the screen name used or the cit no. This info. could be stored in a telegram redirection server in case someone (like me) sends a telegram to someone who now goes by a different screen name and now has a different cit. no. Here's an example of how this would work.... Let's say I'm sending a telegram to someone named MrOwl about a possible intrusion of his land by some sign-posting troll who has just *possibly* taken a small chunk of land away from MrOwl on AlphaWorld at 4968N 131E in the process. Now, let's assume that MrOwl is NOW known as mrbruce (the owner of the A!!CT world). The redirecter can then look up MrOwl and realizes he's now known as mrbruce. The redirecter will then tell the Operator to notify mrbruce that he has a telegram just as though I had sent it directly to mrbruce. He then reads the telegram and responds to it. Cool idea or not??? Patrick [NOTE: There *is* a sign posting troll at the aforementioned coordinates., but I do *not* know just who to contact and the GET have better thin gs to do than go around deleting signs posted by such trolls if there is a question as to why the land was never covered. So I just ignore the sign and move on]. Change default chat colorApr 17, 2003, 9:35pm

Hence, unless the standard WEB DESIGNING techniques change to meet this REQUIREMENT, there'll be A LOT of PC users suffering from BLINDNESS by age 50. Hopefully speech synthesizer hardware devices like the one a friend of mine uses will be perfected in such a way that one could use just about ANY type of application by then. :-) Also, I tried using a black background myself using AW 3.2 and later 3.3 and ran into some graphics (DirectX related?) issues as well. :-( Hopefully this has been remedied with 3.4 Beta. :-) *crossing fingers* Cheers for now :-) Patrick Perfect Road Alignment For Avatars - Is It Possible?Apr 16, 2003, 7:20am
Hi everyone:
I'm BAAACK after a LONG hiatus.....Missed everyone... Just downloaded AW 3.4 Beta (albeit in a different directory than where 3.3 is installed, though I may just go ahead and replace it with the beta upgrade anyways :-)) and was exploring around AlphaWorld (Going down that MAZE of a road better known as Abbey Road which FierceFerrette recently laid down) and was wondering just how much effort would it take to make Perfect Road Alignment For Avatars possible. What do I mean by "Perfect Road Alignment For Avatars" you say?? Well....picture this. Most of us who go down a road which uses street1.rwx like to use the lane in which normal cars would travel down first, right (Right lane in the U.S., left lane in the UK and other parts of the world)?? Of course we do. However, given the fact that making a CLEAN turn around a corner is EXTREMELY hard, but possible, I was wondering just how much more work would it take to make Perfect Road Alignment For Avatars an option whereas the browser can put the user in a position where they can down straight down the road simply by pointing with your avatar the direction you wish to travel. The user can then slide over a little if the alignment is too close to the middle of the road if needed simply by using the SHIFT+ARROW (or SHIFT+4 or 6 for those who like to use the keypad). Take a piece of street1.rwx, mentally split it down the middle and give it some thought. The responses on this should be interesting... :-) Nice to be back.... :-) Cheers for now :-) Patrick Cook Mayor - City of Hamsterville pchamster at attbi.com Denver, Colorado Perfect Road Alignment For Avatars - Is It Possible?Apr 16, 2003, 7:28pm

Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Either that or simply turn the avatar with the keyboard and have it go down the middle of the lane as if the road had "invisible grooves" of some sort in it. I once tried using a bump warp command option built within the road so that avatars could move by themselves by lining up some window objects buried pretty deep into the ground along BOTH sides of South Harborview Avenue once I started building my train system, but that was apparently too confusing to the browser and/or server as I found myself going Northbound when in fact I was headed Southbound (in short, I found myself going UNCONTROLLABLY BACKWARDS unless I was able to slide completely off the road). It got so bad, I had to remove ALL of those window objects just so I could use the street again. But yeah....I suppose a point and click feature could work to accomplish this. Point with the avatar in the direction you wish to travel and then click ANYWHERE on the screen in the area of the road you want to travel on and *VOILA!*. Perfect alignment. :-) Make sense?? Comments anyone?? Perfect Road Alignment For Avatars - Is It Possible?Apr 17, 2003, 9:22pm

I've got a few building projects in mind (yes I said BUILDING projects....As in I actually CREATE A BUILDING), however in order to do them the way I'd like, I need to know how I can make (or whwe I can get) the following.... * Budweiser logo (I know FierceFerrette has a Miller Beer logo in his bar on Abbey Road) but I'd like a Budweiser logo for events and a sports bar I plan to build near Bear Stadium in the Cedar Town District (there is some open space nearby that I can take up) * Sale mages of electronics and furniture stores - After seeing the shopping mall BlankaM built in Blankaborg, I figured a shopping mall would look nice in Hamsterville as well. However, I'd like to have it sell MORE than just clothes. I plan on adding a few electronics and maybe furniture stores as well (No...I don't plan on making any REAL $$$ off this mall, it's strictly a virtual mall :-)). Some sale images from grocery stores would be useful as well, though maybe not neccessarly for the mall * Gas Station Bell - A good sized town like Hamsterville needs a place for someone to get some go juice for their car. However, I'm thinking about building the gas stations around Hamsterville a lot like the full service stations of yesteryear in the RW (Remember the old Conoco, Texaco, Amoco, or Phillips 66 your parents or grandparents used to go to when you were just a kid in the back seat always asking the question of "Are We There Yet?" that your kids ask nowadays) :-) I can embed this bell within an object which would sound when someone pulls into the station. :-) If anyone could help me out here, it would be appreciated (Even source URLs would do if the image isn't on a service which blocks remote linkage of images). :-) Many thanks in advance & Cheers for now :-) Patrick Cook (e.g. PC Hamster) Mayor - City of Hamsterville pchamster at attbi.com Denver, Colorado (my REAL city) Does ANYONE Know How To Make (or where I can get) The following....Apr 20, 2003, 6:22am
