Yeah, that's a problem. You have to set up the servers by hand.
Tools -> Accounts -> New (News) -> Display name = Citizen name (password = citizen
password) -> news.activeworlds.com

There's nothing wrong with using AOL to get online. I just minimize it and go ahead

I'm using Mozilla (not a Microsoft product). It's a server problem, and
it's only been occuring recently. I think KAH pointed this out the
first week it started happening.
