This is what is wrong with the welcome message:

"Most of the content in
Active Worlds is user generated and may not be suitable for person's under
the age of 18"

Excuse me? It is saying that in MOST of the private worlds, the world owners
are perverts :P Or at least that's what it implies.

As a world owner, I take offence to it.

Maybe they think if you are smart enough to make it to the gate, you have
already advanced enough to be able to handle the advanced mode :P

Where dose the unadvanced mode go after you click on advanced mode? What if
we check out the advanced mode and deside we liked the unadvanced mode more.
How do we get it back? lol

Grab a free web site, organize and categorize ALL your complaints, then post
them on the web site along with a comment option. Then come back here and
post the url. That way people can just find all your complaints in one place
and they don't have to pick threw all the old titles to find the posts they
want to keep up with here.

Sorry the lady, I thought the tourist thing was worth an effort, and I
thought it was a great thing that you took up that cause and got others
involved. But, all the posts about things being unfair is takeing it a bit
far and is annoying. We all know that a lot of things in AW are not fair.
Life is unfair, it down right sucks but, we all learn to deal with it.

time I consider you a friend. You are an invaluable part of this community.
You have given years of invaluable service to this community. I for one
would hate to see another friend disappear because of AWI's short
sightedness and inability to recognize an invaluable asset to their own
business. You shouldn't have had to beg for anything from AWI; they should
have offered you what you needed to keep you going as a part of this
community. And they should have felt privileged to in doing so. Since AWI is
so short sighted that they would let one of the biggest assets they have
slip through their fingers, then it seems it is up the community, that you
have served for so many years without asking anything in return, to show
their gratitude by making sure you are not lost to us.

To the community,

I know there are world owners out there, who have benefited from Xelag's
years of contribution to this community, who can afford to help Xelag stay
in this community and continue his work for all of us. I think if we all
pitch in we can keep Xelag with us for many years to come.

I have a small world with 2 citizen accounts. My world expires May of 2004.
I am out of work so I can't afford to offer much. But, I am willing to
donate 1 citizen name. I don't know if it will help much but I am also
willing to let Xelag share my world so he can have a place to work on his
bots. Although he would only have the 3 bot allowances that comes with the
citizenship I am offering and 2 of the bot allowances that comes with the
citizenship I personally use. Which will give him 5 bot allowances.

I don't know if just sharing a small world with some one will help at all,
but I am willing. Maybe some one else in the community could donate a world
just for Xelag's bot testing. Maybe yet another member of the community
could donate another citizenship. And maybe another member or two can donate
a raise in bot allowances.

So, I'm asking the community if they can possibly find a way to keep Xelag
with us?

That's a good idea the lady, but that isn't what this post is about. I and a
lot of other community members don't want to see Xelag leave aw. I and a lot
of other community members aren't ready just yet to give Xelag a harty send
off. We would like to find a way to keep him with us. Any suggestions from
you how to do that would be welcome. Any donations from you would be
welcome. What I don't find welcome is already trying to find alturnatives
for when he is gone. He isn't gone yet :)

I don't know about the rest of the community. I can only speak for myself.
So, here it is. I didn't log on to aw to get my bible out, and sit in a
church.rwx and have a Sunday bible study. As a reader of this news group, I
am offended that you are trying to shove your religion down my throat.

I have respect for most all religions. I believe that people have the right
to worship in what ever way they wish. I don't have respect for some one
from any religion pointing fingers at others that they deem evil, just
because they don't practice your beliefs.

the lady, in real life, you are right, it is the responsibility of the
community to protect the children. It takes a village to raise a child. As
for the adults, well, sorry if they dont' have common sence :)

But, after raising 5 kids for 26 years, the last thing I want to do in the
internet is babysit. In my world, children are welcome. If I see anything
happening to hurt the children I will eject the person doing the hurting.
However I am not here 24/7. So, at the times I am not here it is up to the
parents to monitor their childrens activities. Even when it comes to the
worlds rated X, I believe that it is the responsibility of the parent to
monitor the childs activities. The Rateing is there, but the owner of the
world may not be there at all times. And children sometimes lie to the bot,
and will say they are 18 to gain access.

I think the only thing anyone in the community can do is nip the situation
in the bud as it arises. I really don't think starting a crusade on the
subject is going to help. Unless you know a way to round up all the children
in all the worlds and shove them all into a single child friendly world with
24 hour in world supervision? I dont' think so.

We all do what we can the lady. We don't need a crusade over it. When all is
said and done, it's the parent's responsibility to monitor thier children's
activities. I tought my children about bad things that can happen in the
net. I tought my children to have common sence. And when my children are in
the net, even in AW, there is a parent there to make sure they don't get
them selves in trouble. The Internet, even AW, is not a babysitter.

get into trouble in AW, or anywhere else in the net.
