When are you going to give us a brake?
Many people already have said they are tired of listening to you on this
subject.
You are dragging this on and no one wants to be part of it but you. Right
now you are ranting, and no one wants to hear your rantings. As far as I am
concerned, if you stop posting on this subject it would go away, at least
in the NGs.
Maybe your account was disabled cause you just don't know when to be mature
enough to walk away.
You need to grow up and let it rest now. Quit being childish.
Maybe Just In and FriendPa would like a rest from YOUR war, I know I would.

Hi :)
Does anyone know if there is an ftp with a resume option?
If not, would it be at all possible for one of you nice programmers out
there
in AW land to PLEEEEEEEEEEES make an ftp with a resume on it, for those of
us with dial up and can't stay connected long enough to upload a large file
after trying for 2 days?
Just wondering :)

Hi All :)
It's been a long time since I last posted. Glad to see the group is still
here :)
This is to ask if anyone out there in AW land knows anything about book
publishing? I am looking for a literary agent.
I Have written and illustrated a childrens book, with the help of my objects
and avs in Image. If any one can help out in that area I would apreciate a
private conversation in Image where I can show thumbnails of the
illustrations. Email me at imagines1 at mindspring.com if you are interested.
Thanks :)

If I were rich enough to afford a lawyer I would ask a lawyer.
True book publishing is common, for people who have money and have published
before or who know some one in the buisness. I have been reading up on all
this in the net the last few days and what a night mare for some one who
isn't rich and popular already. I just need a agent to get me started, in
the door that is :)

It isn't a substitute for an actual cit. That's why tourists don't get a
whole av list or contacts. If they don't have a place to experiment and
learn how to use AW and learn what AW is all about then they wouldn't have
any reason to pay for a cit. And if they don't have a chance to settle, in
some way, and get to know the actual community, all they will see is what is
usually on the surface; a bunch of people who claim to love their community
but complain about the program (AW) and complain about the new people
comming into the program. Why on earth would any one want to invest in a
program where the usual patrons are always complaining about it? And why on
earth would they want to invest in a program where they are made to feel
unwelcome? And what's it to you if MrBruce is nice enough to put his own
money out there to buy a world for tourist use? MrBruce doesn't work for AW,
so why do you feel he should follow the same ground rules for tourists that
are set up in worlds like Alpha World? It's his world, he makes the rules.
It's as simple as that. If he wants tourists building in his worlds then he
has every right to let them build for as long as he wants them to build,
with what ever rules he sets up. And if people don't like it, there are
plenty of other FREE build worlds you can build in with rules you may like
better.
BTW I don't think any of the cits who build in free build worlds will ever
be really happy with any ground rules set down for tourists. So, they can
always invest in a private world of their own, and make their own ground
rules :)
MrBruce, a possible solution may be to have a world just for tourist only
and another world just for cits only :) It seems that the people in this
community don't like to mix with the lower class (tourists). I think it just
reminds them that they were once the lower class themselves. :)

was just in The Game Wrold to check it out for the first time. I see that
the games are on the web so you have to open the web from your world to

anything like me, if they click on the sign to open the web the computer
will lock up.
Your GZ is way to FULL. Spread it out so people will have better
performance in your world. All the signs and objects loaded up in one place
at your GZ is dragging me. And on this computer that isn't easy to make

My computer was makeing so much noise while in there I had to come out. So,

I have been around for 5 years and I agree. Tourists should be let into the
the public worlds and they should also be let into the private worlds. This
place is almost dead compared to when I started comeing here. The world
owners pay almost double now, in some cases triple what they used to pay to
own a world. But we also as cits pay triple what we used to pay. One would
think that all that extra income would be enough. Now tourists aren't
allowed. So without tourists there are going to be very few new paying users
in the future. And, what happens next? Are we all, as the only paying users,
going to end up paying more and more increased world costs and cit payments
to maintain the growing up keep of AW?
I think tourists should be let in to all the worlds. I also think that aw
should add an option for the world owner to either let tourists in or keep
them out of the private worlds. It should be up to the world owner. The
tourists are the new paying user of the future. Without them either prices
will go so high that no one will be able to afford to use aw or aw will die
for lack of users in a growing technology.
I wonder why the people who run aw don't see that they are cutting their own
throats by locking their potential customers out. I don't see how that is
good buisness.

Of course AW is makeing more money since they banned the tourists. Since
they banned the tourists they have raised the prices on the already paying
customers by 300%. We as the paying customers are takeing up the monitary
slack of what they would have made had they left the tourist as it was and
then some.
I'm sorry that there are people who would destroy tourist build. Perhaps aw
could make it possible for no one except for the world owner to destroy
tourist builds? Make it part of the world owners rights?
I know I can't afford the tourist fee or I would pay it. My world fee was
doubled the last time my world was renewed. I can't afford any more or I
would let tourist into my world. When tourist were comming to my world they
had no idea how aw worked, they couldn't even fly, some couldn't walk. What
exactly are they teaching them at the gate about aw? In the past I have been
the one teaching the tourist about aw when they came to my world. I made a
lot of new friends from tourists. Aw has a lot more paying customers because
I worked with tourist and because of that they ended up paying the cit fees
at first and now a lot of them own worlds. And, my world has never been a
tourist building world. We are not just another chat in the net, we are a
community. The only way our community will grow and thrive is to add to the
community by letting tourists in.
I think AW should find a way to deal with the bandwidth issue instead of
useing it as an excuse. So, Lets say 2000 tourists show up today and deside
all at the same time to become cits and buy worlds. What happens then? Will
the bandwidth be an issue then? Will aw close up cause they can't handle the
new cits and world owners cause of the bandwidth? Or will they find a way to
deal with the bandwidth? More likely AW is trying to suck what they can out
of the already paying customers and cut their losses on the potential new
customers (tourists). It's the easy route to take; the easy money.
I really like all the new changes in 3.4. Aw put a lot of thought and effort
into it, and I do apreciate that they are doing all the things they do for
us. But at the same time I really don't see why they don't want to their
company to grow by keeping potential customers out.

If I didn't know better I would say that the lady has a new name in the news
groups. This and the last 2 threads sound exactly like her. But we know
better, don't we?
codewarrior I agree about the VISA. But, we are not talking about VISAs in
the US, we are talking about tourist builds in the VERTUAL worlds. Yes, you
are right, at this time all one needs to do is go in as a tourist and
distroy a tourist build.
What I was saying in the post was that awi may be able to find a way to stop
that from happening. Maybe find a way for tourists to build according to
their isp or what have you. Another way other then by the number 0.
Then only that tourist and the world owner can delete that tourists build.
Mabye the tourist could build under a tourist guest name. Guess that tourist
would have to log in with the same name all the time that way. And since it
would be registered as that tourist's name then I guess no other tourist
could use it. Kind of solves another comment you made in one of your posts
about tourists always changeing names. No, it wouldn't be a paid account, it
would be a way to track the tourist and to maybe put a stop to vandelisum.
That tourist would still not have all the other things a cit has like a
contact list and such. It would just be a way to track the tourist.
I am not a techy so please don't jump on me about technical stuff connected
to my idea. It's just an idea, and the techy stuff is for AWI to work out if
they go for it.
Now, can I ask why you are dragging this up again?
And why you are directing this issue at me?

I know it was an analogy. And I got an email from codewarrior, and it's
settled as far as I can tell. On that part.
Any way, I was thinking that AWI could add a tourist database. One where a
trourist could sign up and get a tourist password. Have it so that the name
the password was issued to is not changable. That way the world owner would
see the tourists name, maybe in brackets or something, on the object select
box, rather then a big 0 where a name should be. That would also take care
of tourist vandals, cause they wouldn't have that tourists name or password
so they wouldn't be able to vandalize the trouists property. The world owner
can still delete what ever tourist property they need to. And the tourist
who built on that property can still delete his own tourist build and make
changes.
The tourist would still not have all the privies that a cit has. They would
just be trackable and their builds would be more secure. And the world owner
would more then likely be happier because he wouldn't have garbage all over
the world that the vandals leave.
I know that it would take some programming to make that happen. I assume
that is what AWI pays thier programmers to do, ie, inhance the program so
that we may have a pleasenter experiance in AW.
The world owners and cits who don't own worlds pay way to much as it is.
Dont' you think they should use some of that money to do what, it looks
like, every one wants?
