Registration is free.

About box reads "build 935". The very first 4.1 beta was build 916, so I
can safely assume that this is indeed a 4.1 build.

The one world in this universe demonstrates some nifty new features. But
so that I don't spoil anything for anyone, you'll just have to
experiment for yourself.

It may be best just to wait for the 4.1 open beta in the main AW
universe. This particular build needs a bit of polish as you'll see once
you play around with it.

and according to some people i was talking to there, the stagecoach people
pulled out of SL in favour of AW. ooo, AW is catching up :) or SL is

You can clearly see that it's not AW's engine.. it's actually Second Life.

Also.. that link you posted below.. why does the site automatically ask you
to register, and then all the graphics come from

actually, it used to be on the SL platform, until they switched. theres the
AW icon on the thing anyway! :)
and it is truely wayyy better then i expected. wayyyy better. still could
use some touching up though.

Well, I went in myself, and it is very clearly Activeworlds, logo and all. A
lot of changes, 9 9 9's bot was in there from NewAW... or one very similar
from when I was in beta a couple of years ago. Same terrain, same tree's(as
the new ones in AW) and many new objects. I think I even saw particle
effects. Something I'd like to explore for my worlds. I suspect the video
you found(which I watched) was a demo presented to Wells Fargo... and maybe
rejected due to size or cost or some such. The video you linked too was
definitely SL. Possible also that the two firms are still in competition?
Just speculating.
I think it would be great if AW won such a contest... being the underdog. I
think AW has an incredible potential which I think has not been properly
utilized. I wish the AW team great success. We all win if they do.

Alright, I finally found a link within the Wells Fargo website itself which

ProtonMedia all over again.

AWI will be very happy that houndreds of their users are flocking to their
large client's (which could easily be a rival) universe, spoiling their big
4.1 surprise.

What more, you can always have fun there by making some edits to
controls.ini to get a user list and such up, which is really good for
finding friends.
Edit AW files at your own risk though!

GREAT Place!! I telegrammed Stacee (AWI Programmer) from the AW universe,
and she said it is a valid Universe and she thought I should check it out
with the new 4.1 features. So this is NOT from SL or anyone else.
I highly recommend checking it out.

I dont think so. You can't do anything there but chat. You can't build.
Besides AW is still the best uni. sure ppl will flock for now because it is
new. But that won't last long. Same as all the other unis. hardly anyone
online in the other unis.

Movers are amazing, you can go parasailing, jetskiing, drive a car, a boat,
pretty much anything! This new version has tremendous potential and I think
it's the best upgrade to AW yet. I highly recommend you go there :D They
also made activate and bump "global" so all users can see what you do
through the world server, so theres no longer a need for using bots for
movements and stuff in RPGs, ect. I think this will be like a huge
lifesaver for Activeworlds and it beats the hell out of Second Life ;) You
can also customize your own avatar and lots of stuff :D

Here's an interesting insight. This means future business since AW's

This IS AW Tart ... albeit it seems to have started out in SL it is now
fully AW, or appears to be, check out the info when you first start the
program :o} It rocks I think! And once we users are able to use it AW
(upgrade from 3.6 to 4.1) it will rapidly evolve from all the different

Many possiblities exists. It also allows you to change clothes for whatever

occasions warrants, such as parties, memorial services (not sure if we did
have that before but I dunno), religious services, etc. This also goes for

weddings, birthday parties, grand opening of certain places, festivals
(especially that SW City's Birthday Bash as well for Active Worlds
Festivals), and as

well that Cy Awards or whatever that replaced it (I say that because I'm
getting too many conflicting reports of whether Cy Awards is still going on
or not)

6.) Vehicles, a.k.a movers, opens up pretty much lots of opportunities.
First of all, it allows us to use it as a transportation. I am still getting

conflicting reports on whether it will allows for passengers in addition its
driver but I do believe it will be eventually implemented if it hasn't been
done

yet. If that were to be implemented, this will certainly allows Active
Worlds to be ahead of a particular best-selling game called Grand Theft
Auto: San

Andreas since the latter still lacks the ability to allow you to take anyone
as passengers even without gangs joining you, hookers joining you, or anyone

going for your taxis. I'm talking about the NORMAL circumstance that you
take ANYONE, not specific kinds of people. Glitches in that latter game
probably

allows for that but it wasn't originally intended for that. On other hand,
Active Worlds may have an edge over it in that it is not only a sort of
"multi-

user enivronments" with humans instead of AI-controlled folks but also that
you could actually at least talks to your friends while travelling.

This feature and the above description will allow the following:

Field Trips on a bus, coach, or whatever that is...
Limousine in or out of a motorcade ;P You could drive or ride in it with
your own driver. ;P
Parades
Racing Events to be televised on AW-based television networks involving
either cars, motorcycles, airplanes, etc.

Also anything other than sounds being activated can also be seen by everyone
within the ranges. This allows for the above plus:

Doors being opened is also seen by everyone in the ranges

Any kinds of effects such as fires accidentially started (;P) or lights
being switched on or off can be seen by anyone. This will also opens up
another way

to annoys people in the house or any buildings by switching lights on and
off repeatedly or something along that line. ;P

Any machinary being turned on while everyone sees it starting up :p

And more...

There are supposed to be other features but I have yet to see them or to
test them out. I'll add more about those features if I manages to do that.

Well I went to see this amazing 4.1 and must say (get ready flamers) that I
am totally disappointed. Hopefully they plan better for what we will get but
somehow I doubt it.

Everyone compares it to SL, but I don't even see that comparison. Yes we can
adjust the avatars looks, but extremely limited. They all have the same
bodies, just the hair or clothes change, and that in itself is also limited
(clothing choices for males even worse than AW regular avs), ugly hair, ugly
shoes, very small choices of chothing, so we all walk around looking
basically the same, in different colours

The avatar females are all short, the avatar males are all tall....no other
choices. They all have 'great bodies' of 18 year olds. So I stood with my
grey hair and my 48 year old 5'9" height jammed into tiny young body LOL
.....I dont even want to discuss the ugly shoes they had (no bare feet
permitted)

The choice of skin colour you can have dark or white....and no shading in
between. I was superwhite, othrs super brown....2 races of people only
LMAO....female hair could be short, or ponytail only

This cannot at all compare with the abilities they have there to rearrange
the avs sizes, colours, nail polish, etc with Second Life. Comparing,
Stagecoach (and AW) is pretty crude. The only comparison I could see what
both systems have horrible lag, worse than any over-built world here,
including my own heh

The avatar eyes do not even blink....which takes me back about 10 years.

After being their for awhile, the avs started changing. Males changed to
females, females changed to males. We switched them back to our choices
(which had to be redone step by step as the av choices are not saved
anywhere for easy access, only to have this happen over and over for about
an hour before we all gave up and quit. We could not retain our VR bodies.
Either there was a huge glitch in the system as this affected the 5 people
that I could see, someone had hacked the process, or the owner whoever it
was was playing with our minds.....whichever the choice, although funny at
first became annoying very fast. I did not like being forced to be male LMAo

On closing it down, I received an error message from Windows. yeah ok that
happens....but not often....
So although it is amusing and entertaining, I can see people getting bored
with the new features very fast. Hopefully AW will improve this, but I dont
feel it is even close to what we have been waiting for all this time

I think that some of your points are valid, while others don't hold any
merit because you've taken things out of context.

This environment was designed FOR teens, not for middle aged adults - That's
how it goes... As a result, everything in that environment is "aimed" at the
teenage crowd. Period.

I think the reason we've been informed as to the existance of this universe,
and been allowed to enter it freely is in part because it is somewhat of a
preview of what will be offered. Obviously, theres no public building or
complete customization of the environment, but to slam THIS project because
there isn't that flexibility, isn't fair. It's a custom project, aimed
exactly at what the client wants - not what the Active Worlds community
wants (thank god for that!).

I agree with some of your points but I think to bash the environment based
on a scaled of 1 - Active Worlds, is pointless, off base, and a waste of
time.

I never once slammed the system, except stating exactly what happened on
that first visit. If this was a preview, it was disappointing.

I am basically slamming anyone that compares the improvement to what is
offered at Second Life. It is a small improvement over what we have, nothing
more, nothing mind boggling as we all dreamed of.

Maybe it will get better and I do see potential....right now it has many
big bugs to work out. The ability to keep our av bodies on and not have them
removed 15 times in 15 minutes and turned to another sex (one young boy was
almost in tears because he could not figure it out and had become a girl,
javascript error or something, and nobody around able to help), intense lag
not helped by the fact that gz minimum visibility is set at 70 and not 30 or
40 allowed as option, and the fact that most there either froze or crashed.
In my case I only received a freeze, and
an error report in shutting it down....not bad for a pentium4, eh? LOL (not
counting their server going down leaving us all in void for a bit)

THAT was my experience with the new 4.1....demonstration or whatever you
want to call it.

Don't take me wrong, I am loyal to AW and always was. I always enjoyed
checking out 'new systems' as they came and went, comparing, and yet I
always remain at AW. My computers have gotten better and better over the
years to keep up with the welcome improvements. I have a 2,000$ AW
machine....LOL I do not surf.

I do have a cit at SL but I may only visit there for an hour or so maybe
once a week, if that. It is amazing what is possible with the avs, but, not
many computers, even a good one like mine, can take the strain.....I still
spend about 60 hours a week at AW, my home.

So I am not slamming the system. I have ALWAYS seen the potential in AW. I
am slamming those that have the nerve to say it is the best, or amazing, or
wonderful.....it is good, but it could be better.....and will get better,
hopefully not better than the average computer can manage without crashing.

You can all say how wonderful it is but I just could not agree. I do not
want people to have their hopes up too high because they have seen the mind
boggling abilities of av changes in SL....it is not the same....and maybe
for that I am thankful....my computer would not be able to handle AW anymore

ANYWAY....who said it is for kids?.....they sell corsets to kids? usually?
