They say never mix business with pleasure. However, in Active Worlds, our
pleasure has everything to do with the business (and visa versa).
Mr. Kwok Li, who are you? And do you read our newsgroup? What interest
have you in AW? Please talk to us.
Sincerely, Yanst

AW is engaged in preliminary discussions concerning an acquisition of Wavix
Incorporated. It is a privately-held corporation, controlled by Mr. Kwok
Li, a successful entrepreneur, who will become chairman of the board of the
Company following the merger, if it occurs. (Keep in mind, it may not
occur. There are no assurances.)
Thank you to Ambivalent for posting the url's. I did see them in the search
engine and gathered some background information on Mr. Li. However, it
would be nice if he could talk to the people here. Answer basic questions
like his interest in AW, if he is a citizen, does he like our place, his
plans or ideas for AW, that sort of thing. I don't know if that's customary
during the course of an acquisition; however, I feel these questions should
be addressed as I'm sure the Citizens would like this information. It would
also give Mr. Li the opportunity to meet the Citizens.
It would be nice to be a little more informed on changes within the company
because it effects all of us, as I said in my original post. Effects here
sometimes determine how we experience AW, and I hope (I'm sure as well as
you) for that to be as positive as possible for everyone. That is the
Citizen's business. : )

I love Alpha World. I'm confused as to what has happened in Alpha World
with the China avatar textures and building objects, and I don't understand
why AWGate looks like China. I'm in hopes that this will one day be a
cheerful place full of happiness and freedom.

Is there any possibility for AWGate to be Iceland or Greenland, anything
other than China?
Any possibility for Alpha World to once again be flourishing with tourists,
including the pestering kind and the just learning how to build kind?
How do you leap over a wall you can't find?

MrBruce,
Sorry for your troubles. I'm surprised. AW Comp. seemed so greatful for
your spirit of community, I think it was quoted to me that you were thanked
every day. (If that wasn't the quote, it was something very similar.)
Need they be reminded of this? This needs to be resolved so that A!!CT is

I don't understand why E N Z O isn't around more. Don't understand why
another AWI person is leaving. Don't understand why AW Gate looks like
China. Don't understand why a lot of what happens in AW does. Don't know
how people can fix it. But I strongly feel someone does know, and just
isn't saying so. I feel they have an obligation to say how we can fix it,
but they aren't. Frustrating.

Would some generous person please provide a list of the endings on Cit names
and what they mean? I would like to know, so someone of knowledge please
share. (A complete comprehensive, exhaustive list would be great. ; ) Many
times I'll see a new ending, and even though I'm told what its long name is,
I still don't know what it means.
I know some very likeable, kind, admirable people here that use these
endings on their names. I think it's sweet to see two people using them;
however, it isn't for me. I really like using a regular name, and I like
being called by the name I choose, not baby, chick, etc. I don't like to
advertise the status of my relationship situation on the end of my citizen
name. I'm pretty old fashioned, I'd rather speak directly to someone and
ask or someone ask me as opposed to having it be a part of my citizen name,
even if it means sharing more of my personal information, which I don't like
doing but am considering since I'm realizing that is a vital part of making
friendships.
Jan 30, 2003, 3:58pm
I may be mistaken. The other thing I was seeing may have been IMI instead
of AMA. What does IMI mean?

Truthfully, I don't know a lot about Gorean stuff. From what little I've
been told, it is to stay away from there. But I'm curious about it because
if it is something to stay away from, why do I see so many people there
(according to the world list). And where is everyone else when the Gorean
worlds are well populated?
I think I'll check it out.

If MrBruce is the owner of A!!CT who owns Alpha World to encourage them to
bring the community back? ENZO? Cryonics? Who?
Don't laugh at me, I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of China.
Jan 31, 2003, 8:26pm
Then is it AWCC that I make a request to allow tourists back in to Alpha
World? Is it AWCC that I request a suggestion to have different AWGate
countries represented?
My experience has been too much China, not the blue willow arranged
carefully on a table for guests at a formal meal, the kind that represents
Communism. I'm sure there are very nice Chinese people, I just don't like
to live their way of government, and if the truth be known, I don't think
any of you like living that way either. I know you people must want your
old Alpha World back. I know I do. This is very disheartening. So please,
let's get the ball rolling, I don't want to see Alpha World die.

MrBruce,
My sympathies go out to you regarding the difficulties you've have
maintaining A!!CT community. You've done a wonderful job with the struggles
you've had to face. I do understand what you mean by the negative aspects
of the community which try to tear down and destroy well meaning attempts at
creating a positive, good society. I've learned defeating evil has to be
faced head on, can't bow down, can't quit, can't turn back. It is a slow
and difficult process to work through and overcome, but it can be overcome.
I see tourists walking in AWGate ask the question, "What is this game
about." Many times my answer has been, it's not a game, you can build and
so forth here. But I believe I've changed my mind about that. It's about
experiencing how the world is, how it formed into communities, how the
communities broke down, tolerance, good overcoming evil. (There is evil on
the internet.) The first most prominant evildoer in Alpha World was King
Punisher, I believe. Whether those evil doers are put in place to roll play
or they genuinely do mean harm makes no difference, it has to be dealt with
and attempts must be made to overcome. It is the game of the world.
Now, I'm saying all this, yet, I am having my struggles as well. I have
gained knowledge by watching how the world is, and by reading various things
on the internet, most especially at the United Nations web site. I'm drawn
to them because they believe in denouncing and overcoming inequality and
more in all forms by peaceful means. I like that idea very much. But
peaceful means isn't as easy as one might think. It starts within yourself.
You can't just go out into the world and be a leader of peace and go home
and fuss with your little brother. Attempts have been made to draw me away
from watching how the world is, and some very well meaning people have told
me it is best to not get involved. To those people, I ask you, if you had
been through an event that knocked your heart and soul out on the ground,
would you pick them up, turn around and walk away? Would you become a
rebel? Or would you search for peace within yourself, your surroundings,
your country, your world? And if you saw someone else struggling, would you
help them, walk away or take advantage of them and conquer them? No, I'm
not married to it, I can and do enjoy movies, travel and other activities.
But I won't turn around and walk away. Again, I know I am still struggling,
but I am trying. I've made my choice which is peace. Not Communism, peace.
Which brings me to the China theme. To the ones here that question if I am
a China hater. The answer is absolutely not. If you recall, Alpha World
almost loaded a complete China theme. They uploaded textures, but we never
got the full use of the avatars. I'm not completely sure why this happened,
but I remember about the time it happened. I remember what was going on
with me when it happened. And I do believe it was a very negative
situation, in which I very much tried to tolerate, recover and move on. I
do not like the China theme in Alpha World because it came at time when
something very negative happened. I think of Alpha World as China because
of the theme that was almost put in use, and the fact that it has turned
into communism and it has to stop. I do not like communism, I like freedom.
And I know all of you do, too. I know this place well enough to know you
people must be sick about what Alpha World has become. I've tried to push
all kinds of buttons. I've tried leaving, it doesn't work. The place stays
the same. I left because I thought it was something wrong in which I did
that was the reason why Alpha World changed. The only button that seems to
work is trying to build and rebuild the community with the help of those
that will give their time and effort, tolerance and never stopping or
turning back on the path to good and peace. My computer isn't the fastest,
so I am limited on where I can go and what I can do. But I do feel even
that can be worked around for the benefit of ridding Alpha World of
communism. Communism must leave this place and the old Alpha World must
return, community, tourists and all.
The bottom line is we can make 1,000 new Alpha Worlds, Peace Worlds,
A!!CT's. We can have all the new technologies in the universe, all the
little buttons and pretty colors, another new avatar, another new beta,
another new bot, but it really means nothing without community and the
freedoms that are earned, won and enjoyed with it. I love the first Alpha
World and I don't want to see it die. MrBruce, I'm sure you don't want to
see A!!CT die. My hope is for others to join in trying to rid the AW
universe of things that attempt to detoriate, destroy and bring distress to
citizens and potential citizens.

Alpha World was temporarily open to tourists earlier today in order to show
respects at the NASA memorial.
Thank you to the person(s) who were kind enough to allow Active Worlds
tourists to show their respects in Alpha World.
It is a positive start.

Last night, when Alpha World was allowing tourists, I noticed the atmosphere
was more tolerant of the adult like chat. Alpha World more tolerates
tourist names that might be questionable under the criteria at AWGate.
For example, at AWGate tonight, someone by the name of Bed Pan was asked to
change his name. He ended up leaving either because he didn't feel he
needed to change the name, or he was ejected ( I don't think he was
ejected.). I don't think much about the name of Bed Pan, but I understand
care has to be taken to make sure even the slightest offensive tourist name
is dealt with at The Gate. If tourist Bed Pan came into Alpha World to
chat, I feel there would not be a problem with his name.
I guess what I'm saying is, there are benefits to allowing tourists in Alpha
World, if just for the benefit of chat geared towards adults. It probably
would have solved this problem. I hope AWI considers this as it might mean
the difference between someone leaving our universe offended versus
welcoming the addition of a new citizen.
Feb 5, 2003, 1:04am
The Mapper will not teleport you to the spot you need to be.
SeedBot will not allow you to plant a seed object out in Alpha World wilds.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Feb 6, 2003, 10:24pm
It's hard for me to see the kid tourists standing around AWGate. Hard for
me to watch previous cits come in saying hello as tourists.
I don't know if it's the price or not. I think that plus not allowing
tourists in Alpha World hinders. But they are still coming around the gate
(for now) - that is a good thing. Maybe it's the price.
Kids were always so sweet to work around. Some I'll never forget. 2 girls,
I remember, they were so polite. Those were the good ole days. : )

E N Z O where are you???????? Your baby, your child, your dream is in need
of a revolution!!!!!!!!!!
Please come back and liberate our beloved Alpha World and give it back to
the Rule of the People!
Nice of you to provide A!!CT world Mr Bruce. Your efforts are sincere, but
Alpha World should be back open to tourists. Things around here will never
be the same without Alpha World and the other public building worlds of AW
Inc open to tourists.
I have not given up on Alpha World once again being open to tourists. I'll
never give up on that. Nothing can replace it, nothing can take the place
of it, nothing can compare, nothing, not even a new Alpha World.
Nothing.
Did I say, nothing? Yes.
Nothing.

to open Alpha World to tourists. AWNewbie is nice, but mean people come in
deleting what the new people try to build as fast as they try to build it!
In Alpha World, the area is much larger, tourists can get off to themselves
to build. I have a tourist build that is 5 years old in Alpha World.

MrBruce, I apologize if my posts seem insensitive to what you need. I
didn't mean to come across that way. Actually, it's a lot information to
sift through and I am not well versed on prices and land things.
a1ctbuilder, please post what MrBruce specifically needs. Prior posts are
too long. Please omit extra information. Come out and tell us exactly what
he's requesting in short sentences. Thanks.

MrBruce,
I understand your frustration. Don't give it up. There are people who
care. Take a rest, do something different, get yourself together and then
come back. When you do come back, get with people you know you can trust
and that will lift you up and encourage you on what best to do from this
point forward. Have that group of people band together with you to be your
voice. I'll help you any way that I can. I'm counting on seeing you back
again soon.
