Beta Testers - A Request

Dec 17, 2002, 6:30am
Could someone suggest to Shamus of adding midi capability to the noise
command? I'd like to be able to use midis for my themed builds like Hyrule
that don't fade out when you get away from them.

Otherwise you'll all just have to download really big mp3s... heh heh. >:D

Beta Testers - A Request

Dec 18, 2002, 8:48pm
This is an email from JFK2. He requested this to be posted. He wants other
music file types supported in some future release of AW.

Hello Sw Chris

I'm glad that you and I are not the only ones that LOVE midi as part of the
noise commands.
But if you really want to look and practice... It is allready implimented
in 3.3
I have been using it for DISCO music without a bot for a long time using the
Astart, Adone, Astop on several midirig and animate me commands using one
CLICK ACTIVATE object
to do it with. On my Christmass builds it would be Frosty The Snowman to
start
off 12 tunes - a - playin' and the 12th was 12 Days Of Christmass.
In the DISCO builds it is the main jukebox that starts it all off.
The smaller jukeboxes [midi or wav speakers with texture of jukebox] were
the ones that
started from 10+, 20+, 30+, 40+, 50+ to 60But only the person who clicks on
the start object
gets to hear any music with teh NOISE command.

BUT what i would love to see added in the 3.4 is the usage of MOD, STM, S3m,
FAR, XM music
file types. Winamp, Sonique and others all play these types of music but in
my
opinion XMPLAY does the best job of doing it.
To get a taste of what i'm talking about PLEASE check this url out...
http://scene.org = All the
files are in either ZIP, LHA, LZH format [LHA is what LZH was long before it
changed to LZH.
Think of it as this... LHARC = version 1 BUT LZH = version 2,3,5,7 as that
is the compression
levels used. Change the file extension to LZH and the good old LZH
unarchiver will take it
in bulk if needed]
Why am i asking for these type of music files?
Well... Like midi files the tunes are the smallest in their native format.
But changed
with XMPLAY, SONIQUE, WINAMP [They all use the same plugins] then you
download some
big WAV or MP3 files. Like midi files you can have 5 min long tune in 20 k
of file.
OR i have seen some of these that are HUGE sizes. [HUGE = About what a mp3
file looks like]
http://scene.org is the largest of places to obtain these files and there
are at
least 150 gigs of music there in this format. It would give the builder
another audio
avenue to express their builds AND do it where there is no Music Recording
Company [ASCAP / BMI]
telling you of illegal files. These are the type that most often refer to
as
the AMIGA COMPUTER SOUND FILES. [Modtracker, Fasttracker, Supertracker, etc]
that has been
ported to the other computer formats.

So if you can post my wishes for the added to the AW newsgroups or email
someone you might
know who is a beta tester and express that small request of mine.
although i don't use AW... I do use the browser in other universes.

Regards, JFK2

Please do that. I'm tired of pinheads constantly basing their decisions

Go to Tools, then Options. Select the Security tab. Unselect "Do not allow
attachments to be saved that could potentially be a virus.

The existance of that feature really ought to be documented as a message
showing up in your Inbox when you first start OE so those of us who actually
have a brain can turn it off and judge for ourselves what we want to open

Oh, I can belive it. I have delt with him before, and this post proves my
suspicions. This moron is as anti-American as they come. You're as low as
that Iraqi leader and car mechanic who were overjoyed at the news. Hell,
even France sent a letter of condolense to the president.

This post should serve as 100% proof that this guy has no credibility when
it comes to international politics. And I have serious reservations about
the rest of his views.

You don't criticize governments in a thread about a tragedy!

What you people don't realize is that it's not about the western world.
President Bush is putting millions of dollars into AIDS research that will
first be used in Africa, not the United States. You think the western world
doesn't care about the eastern world?

Seven people died yesterday, doing something of international reknown. An
Israeli, who is from the eastern world, died in that shuttle. The American
people would express similar condolenses if a Russian Soyez capsule
disintegrated carrying cosmonauts back to Earth.

You are nothing but snakes. And you only see what you want to see.

You are blinded by your prejudices that you are willing to make anything
political to prove your point. Even an international tragedy. And that
only shows your ignornace and hypocracy.

Wake up! Or ship out, sailors. We do not need people like you here. We
need people we can respect.

Quotes from count dracula:
"Is it really neccesary to have a memorial for everyone who dies ( if he or
she happens to be from the "western" world)."
It is necessary for countries to express their condolenses for something
that is obviously an international tragedy. An Israeli and six Americans
died. One from the eastern world, and six from the west.

People starve to death each day, who makes memorials for them?
Their families. Those deaths, unless en masse, are not on an international
scale. There have been memorial services for those who have died needlessly
before. Nelson Mandela was congratulated by leaders from all over the world
after he ended apartide in Africa. President Bush is sending millions to
research a vaccine/cure for AIDS. Africa will be the first to benefit from
that, not the US. The United States also spends trillions on international
aid, making air drops and whatnot with foodstuffs. If the US stopped food
production the world would be starving within the month.

I bet Stupid Bush will blame this on Saddam, and it seems one jew was on the
ship also, so i bet this will give Israel a reason to nuke Arafat and keep
on harrising the palestinians..."
You see things through political eyes, but it's not a political issue.
That's what I have a problem with.

Why don't I see your critical views of European, Iraqi, and other leaders
being posted on this board? The only views I ever see are ones against the
American government.

Government criticism is fine, but this thread is not the place for it. That
is my problem with you and joker.

Why should we? The pursuit of knowledge and wisdom is a very noble
prospect. <insert dry wit here> If you're so concerned about
overpopulation, then populating the moon is the best way to rid us of that
problem.

The Kyoto agreement was a farce. The US was required by that treaty to
reduce their nuclear weapons by almost half. And other countries in the
treaty were exempt from that. One reason we pulled out was because it
wasn't fair.

On oil. If it were really about oil, the US would have taken over the oil
fields a decade and some odd years ago. Try to justify the US not doing
that, and now, all of the sudden, the US wants to do that this time around.
It doesn't make any sense, especially if you consider the President this
time around is the former Bush's son.

Why do you have to try to find something negative in every thing the United
States does? What about your own country? What about the European Union
countries? Do you apply the same standard?

Should you not be held responsible for your comment? Perhaps you should
apologize? Wasn't that a tasteless joke that deserves an apology?

If I can go off on a tangent here...

The global warming is possibly more of a result of the shifting of the poles
about a decade ago and some degree of axial tilt than polution. Or they
could both be factors. There was a report released about a month ago that
said there was a molecule in the air that basically cleaned polution out of
the air. How convenient. Anyways, that is why if you live in Dallas, you
will see clear skies the day after a rain storm. Rain storms recharge the
air scrubber molecule. Can't remember the name of it, though. ":\

Ooo I write arrogant. :) I'm sorry if you see me as arrogant. But I don't
tolerate spin. What I do is I take the Bill O'Reilly approach. I look at
the facts, and call them as I see them. And I also call others to back up
their viewpoint. If you can present facts that are better than mine and say
something else, I will then adopt that position. So far I haven't seen any
facts worth my notice.

I also do not tolerate people twisting a memorial thread into a petty
political debate.

If you see my non-political posts, you see I'm actually quite nice. :)

Oh, so because the European Union as a viable political and military force
(which has happened only in recent years) not attacking any country exempts
them from being held accountable for any action they may take? I see a
double standard.
