I'm Dion Jones (Yeah, I know, really convenient!) but my video card is only
16MB so it won't let me play. :-P I think that's so stupid. They should
let me just software render it or allow me to change settings that will let
me use a 16MB video card!

I would imagine AW would be unhappy to hear that we're talking about a
potential competitor in the works in their NG (and not talking about how
shitty it is).

Too expensive. This is my junk computer. My gaming computer will be coming
in in about 3 months and then I'll be getting the Radeon 9800 or perhaps the
new NV35 from Nvidia, depending on how the benchmarks go. :-)

That would require them to actually write a software renderer. Software
rendering is fast becoming obsolete, because most people have decent HAL 3D
accelerators, so it's not worth the time nor money. Unless you want to use
the D3D Reference Rasterizer, which is as speedy as a one-legged 200-year
old tortoise. Get yourself a GF4 (not MX!) card with 64MB vid RAM or more.

Bug: Jumping off of Verticle Surfaces

Apr 25, 2003, 5:57pm
It is possible to jump against a wall and jump off of the vertical wall
panel. I can just imagine this being a real issue when cyawards comes
around and people are jumping onto the stage.

Good luck to those who're going to try to jump through invisible panels ;-)

Bug: Jumping off of Verticle Surfaces

Yeah, it's been improved a bit but still very possible, especially if you
just run along a wall at a slight angle. And they added something so that
if you get stuck in an object, you can get out easily, but that just makes
it easier to get all the way through the wall cause you won't get stuck in
it.

Bug: Terrain Caching

Apr 26, 2003, 3:28pm
It appears that the beta client does not easily let go of the terrain
caching. After reseting my world, the cache was still there, although I
thought the reset simply didn't flatten the terrain. After getting pissed
off by changing my terrain by hand, only to world hop and notice that it was
back the same as it was before I touched it, I deleted my cache and
everything was flat. Not sure why I haven't noticed this issue in other
worlds... perhaps it's because of a registry in those but whatever the
issue, it probably should be fixed.

Bug: Terrain Caching

Apr 26, 2003, 7:55pm
There are screwy textures when you enter the world but it goes away upon
moving or selecting the terrain so I don't really care much about that.
There is some strange terrain caching, though, I don't get it. It was all
working fine at one point and then when I reset the world, the terrain
wouldn't recache itself anymore. :-\

Outlook Express - My posts marked as read

Apr 26, 2003, 8:41pm
Is there a way to make the posts I make instantly marked as read? I find it
annoying that in order to get an entire thread to be marked as read, I have
to click on my posts and wait a second or two. And it's almost as annoying
to right click and click "mark as read".

Outlook Express - My posts marked as read

Apr 26, 2003, 8:51pm
well, I just want my own posts to automatically be marked as read, because
obviously, I have no reason to read my own posts!

-Dion

[View Quote] That is one way to do it. If you want to just read certain posts, and make
all others appear as read....the try right clicking on "general.discussion"
and click "catch up"..that will mark all posts as read.

I asked about this awhile ago and found nothing. I do have eVB (Embedded

correctly. :-\

I haven't tried yet, but perhaps the C SDK would work when compiled in

If I was a mother, this would be the worst mother's day ever. I feel bad
for my Mom, I can't do anything for her cause I have soo much damned
homework. I started Friday afternoon, slept that night, started saturday
morning, didnt sleep last night, and I probably still won't get it all done
in time. :-(

Annoying bug

Mar 8, 2002, 12:56pm
Nah, because people like me stay on ActiveWorlds for 6 or 8 hours at a time
and have no problems at all. and I'm a multi-tasking nutcase. If any memory
problems were to happen, I'd probably be the one to get the bulk of it :-P

Annoying bug

I am running Windows XP Professionaly with ActiveWorlds 3.2 and my
ActiveWorlds runs almost 24/7. Usually about 10 - 16hrs a day. I am
constantly multi-tasking and it's not uncommon for me to have 20 or more
programs running. I have not experienced any extra slowdown caused by
ActiveWorlds nor have I ever had any problems with memory.

but not on WindowsXP ;-)

Alpha has got to go

Feb 19, 2002, 8:04pm
Maybe AWC should just come up with another world similar to Alpha World in
that there's a LOT of room to build and it's free to build for everyone, but
completely new objects and textures etc. No need to get rid of Alpha World,
just make a new one ;-)

If that baker begins to lose business and is about to go bankrupt or must
pay the bank back for a loan, etc, etc, that money would go towards keeping
his business alive. Later on he can lower the prices again, but he highers
the prices hoping enough people will stay to get him more money than before
and be able to pay off his debt.
