When the avatar is sliding on an object, it pays no attention to terrain and
can go straight into a hill.

What to look for in a video card?

Jul 3, 2002, 5:45am
best thing to do... check out the benchmarks. Basically, benchmarks just
show the frames per second in a bunch of different 3D games such as Quake3
or Serious Sam. Once the benchmarks reach 100fps, it doesn't really get much
better. The computer refresh rate and the amount of frames per second your
eye can see make any more than 100fps to be virtually impossible to notice
the difference between 100 and 200 fps. Just by using ActiveWorlds you can
tell what frame rate speed looks good. Just about any 3D card that has 128MB
of RAM is plenty good enough for ActiveWorlds. Ya want cheap? I suggest
Radeon's All-In-Wonder 128MB card. The best? Geforce4 Ti4600

best worth your money, the 4200 definately. They're just different versions
and obviously the latest version is the best so 4600 is the top of the line
video card right now. But the difference between the 4200, 4400, and 4600
isn't much at all. Infact, it's so little that I think the 4200 and 4400
would be considered #2 and #3 in top of the line video cards.

the geforce 4) :-)

$1500? pfft!
Spend like $150 for a Duron 900mhz and a newer mobo package and you'll be
fine for the GeForce4

I'm running a Windows XP machine on a network with about 10 other computers,
2 of which have printers(Windows 98 machines). I can print to both printers
no problem. Infact, I never even had to worry about it, it worked just like
win98 would have worked. Just added the printer like usual and it worked
just like that, no problems.

Racists in AW ?

Jul 6, 2002, 6:10pm
First of all, this is 'sexist', not 'racist'.

An owner can eject anyone they want from their world. That is just a warning
that all men are ejected. Rather it's sexist or not I'll leave up to you to
decide but it's allowed nonetheless.

based on this, actors shouldn't be disallowed for acting to get a female
part in a play or movie. You would consider that sexist. Quite obviously you
need an actress to fulfill a female part in a play.

We shouldn't discriminate ugly people from being models, it's descrimination
based on looks.
We shouldn't disallow dogs from voting, it's discrimination based on
intelligence.

You see how this goes? There's TONS of descrimination in everything.

So while I agree it's discrimination, I don't object to it. It

I have NEVER seen a woman garbage truck driver.

Besides, a world owner can do whatever he/she wants.
The government is getting cautious with Afghani's, even going as far as to
deny green cards because they have a bit of a gut feeling that tells them he
COULD be a terrorist. Doesn't sound like they're treating afghani's equally.
Do you think they should?

If you have a good BIOS, the computer will restart itself when it freezes so

[Update] - Weird Black Box

Jul 21, 2002, 1:24am
Also, I think it is only on the Windows XP version of DX 8 because my
brother (who was using Win98 then) didn't have that bug. I noticed it awhile
ago and since I had only first noticed it once 3.3 came out, I thought it
was an AW bug.
