why?

Jan 9, 2002, 10:28am
Congratulations to both of you for having so much success in life. I'm sure in a few years I'll earn enough money for that too. For
now I'm a student and I clearly DON'T have 10 more $ per month to spend.
I agree that complaining is useless, but saying that a 600% price increase is "not that much more" is absolutely incorrect.

No, actually AW should not give it back to you that way, since you didn't pay for the renewed citizenship... you were given a 1-year
citizenship, but the 2nd one was given to you by error obviously. So you can't complain that you don't want to pay anything to them
even though they paid for you, even if that was by error.

That's probably because the database of the newsgroup is updated less often than that of the universe... so he might not be able to

The login information is not only in his computer, but it is stored on the newsgroup server, which checks that your username and
password are right...
So, AW has a list of all citizens and passwords, the NG has that same list too, but it isn't updated as often... the NG still has
the list of a few days ago, and data21's citizenship worked at that time :)

Well, the 2 main reasons I use windows for are AW and Borland C++ Builder 5 (which will soon be ported to Linux, if I'm not

Did I ever say I supported any company? ;)
Ok, let me precise my thoughts. Of course, you can't blame a company for trying to be successful. That doesn't mean you can do
ANYTHING to reach that goal, or that it should be your only goal in life. What about companies that fire staff to gain always more?
That's what the capitalist system eventually leads to... And money isn't the only factor to success. Look at Microsoft... lol...
Sure, Bill Gates has a lot of money, but who would want to be in his place, if that means to be hated by half the planet? I sure
wouldn't... (and no one needs that much money anyway)

OK. Then, the society tells people they must have a job to live. The companies aren't there to provide people with jobs. Who's going

Uniserver?

Jan 12, 2002, 1:49am
AW could be sparing a lot of bandwidth by only sending the changes when they occur instead of the whole list each time, since it's
99% the same every 30 seconds (that is, all the names identical and most worlds at 0 citizens)...

It is true that I do not know if AW will be more successful after that move, if it will survive, etc., but, mind you, it might seem
a bit selfish but quite a lot of people are actually whining because wether it succeeds or not, they just won't be able to see it

I won't be renewing. Of course I COULD pay, if I really had a need for that, but it's not like it's something I need to survive. I'm
a student (studying in a foreign country so I don't have the right to work here, moreover), so I'm watching my expenses. 1.6$ a
month is nothing, 9.50$ is something else.
My parents wouldn't have accepted to pay me that in the first place back then in 1998 anyway.

Of course that all is just me, but I think many students or teens will have to leave (or decide, if you prefer).
