Help on World.

Oct 23, 2005, 7:09pm
Your problem (when only YOU can not enter to your world) is a definite bug in the NAT router - it does not support "loopback" : request from LAN to LAN by using the WAN address.
Some routers you can enable it.

http://www.andras.net/router_aw/router_aw.html

Several examples and some hints there,
Andras

After some long testing it turned out Ry's ISP uses another NAT router between the internet and Ry's connection which uses the 10.x.x.x subnet which is not routeable :(
Let's hope the ISP will provide a better IP address or forwards the port 7777 to you.

Thank you for your patience!

Follow Up:
We did some more checking and we learned that the ADSL modem did the actual NAT translation but it had no options to do port forwarding.
Unfortunately the modem's user manual did not even mentioned this feature:(
Switching the modem to a Bridge mode, Ry and other visitors are able to enter to his world!

Lesson learned :)

AW is MUCH MUCH more than a game - it IS the virtual reality!

You most likely get the trojan infected variants through email from someone.
Download it only from Skype's own website.

"I continually get Worm notification from Norton Anti-Virus when I run Skype?

To stop the Norton Worm warning for Skype from continually appearing please try the following:

Open Norton Anti-Virus program -> Select “Options”-> Select “Internet Worm Protection” -> Select “Program Control” -> look for “Skype” in the list of programs -> click on Skype once -> click “Remove” ->Select “Yes” -> Select “OK” -> Close Norton.

Next time you start Skype or update or reload the program, Norton will detect Skype as a worm invasion. Simply click “OK” and you will not get anymore notifications."

Norton is famous about its false positive detection :(

Nobody uploaded any malware to Skype's site - there is a "Social Engineering" based Trojan which spread through email carrying an infected Skype Installer.

That is a legacy name of this button from the "Non-Windows" world.
Plain PrintScreen will copy the WHOLE screen to the clipboard, while the ALT+PrintScreen will copy only the active window.

Imagine if AW needs an upgrade and the server responds it is busy serving other applicants and you have to retry it and retry it and ... again :)
http://andras.net/images/entropia1.png

It is a joke so far.
Well, the saga continues (after the 10th of the file failed to load):

"Are you sure you have read the EULA? You seem to have clicked the "I accept" button a bit fast." ROTFLMAO

And I am still waiting for the approval.

Good luck to anyone who wants to try it!

I wrote this bot first for AWNewbie (though it seems offline).
Storage uses this bot and I regularly try to open up new building lots for tourists.
I remember a world "Tourist" wanted to use it but it seems private world now.
Other than those I have no clue which worlds are using it (except in AWEurope :).
The bot is not phoning home, so I have no track record about them.

Wireless Connction Woes

Nov 29, 2005, 12:37pm
[View Quote] The reason I asked it because recently I had to fix 3 DLink routers power supply.
All 3 showed the same error: when transferred more than 20-30 kb (large email, file transfer), it reseted itself. My first thought was the power supply and replacing that helped for a short time.
The actual bug was an electric capacitor which seemed to lose its ability over time (drying out) inside the router. Those routers were 2 years old and of course out of warranty :(
If you have the knowledge and tools, you can check the router's internal 3.3 rail, if it is stable or not (with an oscilloscope), or just return it if it is still under warranty.

Annual MultiWorld Christmas Present Hunt

Dec 12, 2005, 7:04pm
Hi everyone,

Storage world announces again it's Annual MultiWorld Present Hunt for Christmas!
This year the hunt will last from the 16th of December until the 20th of December expanding the opportunity for everyone to participate.
We have 27 worlds lined up already and the deadline for additional worlds to sign up is the 14th of December.
Sorry folks but any submission comes later can't be added to the hunt - it requires several days for testing the connectivity to the participating worlds.

Thanks to the donors, we have plenty of prizes lined up, though we are still awaiting to getting more prizes :)
Please send your requests/comments/donations to the organizers (Diane, OneSummer and Elyk) and they'll be more than happy to assist you. If you have trouble to reach them, you can always send me an email.

I ask all those worlds who did not submit the technical details to do so ASAP so I can be sure they are correct and will meet the standard of our hunt.

You can find the details at:
