Help on World. // CommunityryOct 22, 2005, 1:52am
My world (Twylyte) is having difficulties running on my computer,
Actually, it's 'Running' in the world server, but when I, or anyone else trys getting into the world the browser hangs on 'looking for twylyte'. Now, I've turned my firewall off, and it's still not working, I've also tried it on my PC and my Laptop. Tried without my router and with my router. It's strange. What could this be? My router is a DLink Wireless Router. My ISP is iiNet.net.au (Australia) Help would be appreciated, cheers. 77Oct 22, 2005, 2:06am
I also had a prob with my world at first and I also have D-link and was able
to get it working after I went to administer my router and gave it permission to run on the firewall and ports also the virtual server on it as well [View Quote] ryOct 22, 2005, 2:13am
Ok, what information do I need to input for virtual server?
Name, Private IP, Protocol Type, PRivate Port, public port? Sorry, I'm new to this bit lol [View Quote] 77Oct 22, 2005, 3:45am

and also put active world server for the name on it. The problem I was
having before me and Ray of AW sorted it out , my world server on my comp was brining the world up and it was on the list but was grayed out as private and I couldn't even get into it much less anyone else. then once you get into administer to it you put in object password that AW should have sent you in a email after you bought world [View Quote] 77Oct 22, 2005, 3:57am
also on your firewall settings for it put both TCP and UDP ports 7777
[View Quote] 77Oct 22, 2005, 4:09am
yup I just looked in the world list and yours is there put grayed out so
that must be the problem if you are not even able to get into it because that is the same thing that was happening to me . It took me and ray Webster of AW about 2 days worth of emails back and forth and suggestions until I happened to look at the virtual server part. I had to give the same permission to a webcam and what it does is it lets whoever comes into that port forwarded to your computers IP # and not the other D-link firewall number. Hope this makes sense and helps. [View Quote] ryOct 22, 2005, 5:43am
Okay, so It is greyed out.. but I'm the caretaker in the world server, so
thats fine. But I can't even connect to the world thru AW. Okay, heres the the firewall in the router, please inspect: Allow "awserver" 7777 Allow "awserver2" 7000-7100 Now, for the virtual server i have: AWServer 192.168.0.1 Both 7777 / 7777 always AWServer2 192.168.0.2 Both 5670 / 5670 always And its still not working. Which computer is the world running on, 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.2?

Did you change the default address of the router? because it is 192.168.0.1 and you state that your server IP address the same. Are you using DHCP to assign IP addresses? -- Andras "It's MY computer" (tm Steve Gibson) ryOct 22, 2005, 12:36pm
I havent changed anything like that I don't think...
My lan IPs is as follows... Home PC XP with wireless router connection, 192.168.0.1 Laptop XP connecting to the wireless router, 192.168.0.2 They are the IPs of the two computers. The IP of my internet connection is different. HOWEVER, those IP addresses, are different in the DHCP Clients list. HMMM! As its too complicated for me, im providing you the DCHP Screenshot of the router by email attachment (check your email). HMMM! > > > As its too complicated for me, im providing you the DCHP Screenshot of the > router by email attachment (check your email). Nothing in my mailbox yet :) I know what is the problem now - you have your computers obtaining an IP address from the router (usually in the range of 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.200) The router's own IP address is 192.168.0.1 (this is the number you type in your browser when you want to access the router's configuration) You routed the port 7777 to the router , not to your computer. Due to the nature of the DHCP - you probably want to assign a fix IP to your server box - like 192.168.0.50, which is beyond the DHCP range DLink uses and forward the port 7777 to that one. For a quick fix (not changing from Dynamic IP to static in your LAN): open a command prompt on the server machine and type: ipconfig /all (if doesn't work then Start/Run/winipcfg) Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.xxx <-------------------- this is your computer IP address Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.000 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 <-------- this is the DLink box's address You'll get a list where you'll have your own IP address (most likely 192.168.0.100 or 101) Go to the DLink and forward the port 7777 to that particular IP address. It will work until you restart the server. HTH -- Andras "It's MY computer" (tm Steve Gibson) ryOct 22, 2005, 1:19pm
ty, will try this tomorrow.

if its any help this is what I have on virtual server active worlds server
67.176.9.2* TCP 7777/7777 always [View Quote] 77Oct 22, 2005, 11:29pm
oh and also you need to go to the administer on your activeworlds server
icon in tool bar or in programs and it will ask you for your cit name and password and then it will let you in to world then you go configure it in the top world tab and put you or whoever you want building in it for building rights and then allow *** means everyone. just be sure to put your cit in the eminent domain [View Quote] 77Oct 22, 2005, 11:35pm
also if you don't already know you cant have the activeworld server on 2
computers just one ( been there did that didn't work) also when you shut down your computer it also shuts down the world and disappears from the list [View Quote] 77Oct 22, 2005, 11:38pm
oh and you might get better luck with assistance in the worldbuilders
newsgroup but most monitor this one also but some questions in that group may answer any other problems [View Quote] ryOct 23, 2005, 12:44am
Thanks, I did own several worlds, and know how to use the world features,
rights etc... The world server is configured properly, it's just the router not allowing the connections. I will try anras information in a few hours . ty. [View Quote] sw chrisOct 23, 2005, 12:51am

yea im a newbie to world ownership mine is pangea and the router problem
was the first obstacle to overcome and took awhile to figure it out and thought I would at least let you know what I had to do on my D-link router and I was never able to get into it until I gave it permission on the virtual server because I had the router firewall all configured [View Quote] ryOct 23, 2005, 4:07am
ty for your help.
Perhapse i'll just get someone to host it... i cant think of what it could be. as I've set up the permissions and forwarding as andras hinted. [View Quote] andrasOct 23, 2005, 4:57am

Don't give up!
I know DLink works with the world server :) Please gather the following information: 1, DLink's own IP address on the LAN (Home tab/ LAN button) 2, DLink's DHCP status (all lines even the DHCP clients are relevant! Home tab/ DHCP button) 3, Your world server's IP Address (ipconfig /all or winipcfg) 4, Check if you have a port=xxxx line in your world.ini file 5, Do you have XP with SP2 on the world server? SP2 enables the built in firewall by default, so it can block all incoming traffic! Pass those information to me either here or email or tgram. -- Andras "It's MY computer" (tm Steve Gibson) andrasOct 23, 2005, 5:01am

If you passed all those information then in the DLink, Tool tab admin button:
Enable Remote management, set the remote manager IP to: 194.152.129.209 and telegram me the admin password, so I can take a look. -- Andras "It's MY computer" (tm Steve Gibson) anduinOct 23, 2005, 9:22am

>ty for your help.
> >Perhapse i'll just get someone to host it... i cant think of what it could >be. as I've set up the permissions and forwarding as andras hinted. I am using iinet.net.au but am using a Draytek Wireless Router. Try setting the DMZ Host settings to point to your PC. That way all ports are automatically forwarded to your PC no matter what. Just be sure to use a software firewall on your PC instead ;o) Works fine here, so it's not iinet. Best Regards, Anduin (317281) -- Immigrated Monday, May 8th 2000 DreamCty World Coming Soon!
