Tourists need to be able to enter all public AWI worlds.
Tourists need to be able to build (at least with 0) in all public AWI worlds. We need to have the ability to copy objects when we right click at the object yard. dionApr 24, 2003, 11:37pm
Getting a little demanding, eh? :-P

We've already started rolling in more dough! What more must be asked of us?!

Helping tourists learn how to build. Making an effort to place them at
coordinates that are reasonably protected from vandalism. Helping at the gate. : ) [View Quote] makiApr 25, 2003, 12:32am
no you aren't, $70 a year isn't all that much, when there's only a thousand
or two users at most, some with worlds, most small or trial, and at only once a year, meanwhile, you're complaining the prices are too high, and half the users are leaving instead of even renewing("you" and "you're" directed towards the whole of the universe). maki [View Quote] dionApr 25, 2003, 2:52am
You're right. $70 isn't that much. But I feel that updates should be far
more often for the amount that is being payed. I'd also like to see some better Public Relations! -Dion [View Quote] maki [View Quote] lord perceptionApr 25, 2003, 4:05am

At the end of the day, It's dead, the growth of the AW Community has
stagnated. I will agree that 70 US isn't that much if AW is one of your main activity that you do in your free time. But these days, the population count is just far too low during my time zone for me to even bother with AW on that scale. I'm now just logging on every few weeks for a few minutes to quickly check telegrams. Every time I attempt to build, I lose interest very quickly realizing that I'm going to be alone. It seems that many people aren't prepared to pay the price for a citizenship now, particularly those outside the US. The dismal 100-130 population during my time zone really doesn't help my interest AW. Anyway, I've realized that there isn't much you can really do about the situation, so I'm just going to let AW and Multi-user 3D take it's course. If things don't improve by September 2003, I'll just let my citizenship expire for the time being, go into hibernation, and return when the population count returns to an acceptable level. Failing that, just drop everything and revisit multi-user 3D again in a few years time, hopefully by then the technology would have matured a bit and will appeal to a wider audience. People have protested to AWI , tried this and that and it hasn't achieved a lot the joker ssApr 25, 2003, 9:16am
in 3.4 there is an option to disable/enable tourist building , whta i fthey
let theml back in at least , but not let them build ? so tourists ( like a friend of you that doesnt have a cit ) , can come inot AW and check your build , or just chat at aw gz , and if they wanna build , thay have to register , it cna only make tourists like AW more if they see more . panther1403Apr 25, 2003, 9:25am
In my world, AAWR (shameless plug =P ) I try to do that and protect tourists
builds. At first when the word got out that I was protecting tourists builds my world began to be attacked. It wasn't from tourists, it was from cits who didn't like the fact that I was protecting tourists builds. One of them told me that was the reason. Now I haven't been attacked since, maybe I got them all in my ejections or maybe they gave up when they saw that they were not doing any damage. I think there are those out there in the AW community who are opposed to helping tourists, and that's just sad because it makes everyone else in AW look bad. It only takes one person to ruin it for the rest of us. [View Quote] alphabit phalphaApr 25, 2003, 12:20pm
Sorry to hear you had to deal with that at one time:(
Sometimes I wonder if harrassment of tourists is the same mentality of college initiatons....:) [View Quote] strike rapierApr 25, 2003, 3:06pm

Eh. No. I just got finished deleting some 10,000 tourist objects (Mostly
bright colored pp16's with pokemon pictures) nestled around my N/W axis build area. I don't wanna do that again. Entering I have no problem with, but letting them build in AWI worlds just ends up dissapointing them when I come along and bulldoze it because it either A) Gets in my way, B) Is obscene or C) Makes my monitor go batty because of all the bright colors (I really need to replace this thing). And yes, right click copy/paste needs to be reenabled. [View Quote] panther1403Apr 26, 2003, 7:36am
Well it seems that someone who read my post wanted to have some fun. the
entered my world and decided to put up pornographic pictures and they did it all around tourists builds. lol no problem. I saw it before any one else entered my world. it took me a few clicks and about 5 minutes to clean up. its sort of sad when they also resort to entering into a conversation in MSN messenger with me when I wasn't even home. the conversation consisted of many swear words repeated over and over agian. Message to the ppl who make thems feel good by trying (notice i said trying. not succeeding.) to put others down: It only shows us how emotionaly messed up you realy are. If you need to put others down to make youself feel good then you need therapy. Oh and one more thing. If you want to do damage don't try it in a world where there are several bots that log IPs and notify me when ppl are putting up pictures. the ladyApr 26, 2003, 12:14pm
World logs can give you the IP address of someone coming in posting
pornography. There should be a way to fix up something to get rid of it without a human appointed Pornography Scout running around to Zero builds looking at the url's. [View Quote] just inApr 27, 2003, 2:54am
Although it only took you 5 minutes to scout around... a tip for bigger
worlds... You can do an xelagot survey and then filter by (recent) time and/or builder number (0 for tourists) and by "picture" action command. That makes it pretty easy to find infringing objects, and even have the bot delete them for you to save hurting your own eyes.. Regards, Justin [View Quote] panther1403Apr 27, 2003, 9:27am
Actually it only took me five minutes because I was using bots. Tracker by
Taco is the bot that alerted me to the attack and showed me where the pictures were added and what the url was. Then I used the Active worlds utility to find all the objects with that url and delete them. I also have an xelagot in my world 24/7 to keep logs because my world is hosted by AW and the xelagot in combination with Tracker give me all the info I need (IPs, citnames, citnumbers, bla bla bla yadda yadda yadda. I only wish it would also give me the comp ID so I wouldnt have to enter the person into my bots eject on sight list and wait for them to return). I also use the xelagot to make regular backups of the world so if any tourist builds are deleted I can just load up the propdump with the bot, zero in on the damaged build and restore it. Old fashioned. In the modern world you just get to look at the business end
of a Romanian AK-47, and possibly get exiled to the United States. [View Quote] the ladyApr 30, 2003, 1:10am
sweApr 30, 2003, 1:25pm
ok, lets just try to explain this.
you own a house? now say someone wanted you to let the homeless sleep there, would you agree? definatly not, and you have the right not to, because YOU own the house, no one else. same here, AW own the world, they dont want anyone into thier worlds, and no one else has the right to tell them (try to force them) into it! you know that it costs them quite some for the tourists to be there, building for free right? if someone wants to build, they should get themselfs a cit and knock themselfs out.... -SWE [View Quote] the joker ssApr 30, 2003, 1:56pm
we are customers , and what about the 3.4 feature to enable/disable tourist
builds , let them at least in to chat or view builds tengelApr 30, 2003, 3:28pm
Well, we are still on Beta, and I don't think they will upgrade Alphaworld
before they have a final version ( world servers as well ) [View Quote] |
