Stock Bot

Feb 6, 1999, 1:44pm
Ima, how much work would it take
to configure a bot to give the latest
aw.com stock information?

Request for script or program

May 29, 2003, 6:43pm
The following is a request for a bot script or program to help me keep a
large object yard looking as neat as possible.

Working with a large object yard should be made easier with the use of a
bot. For instance, if I have a set amount of coordinates or cells to place
my objects (in other words, objects sectioned off in categories), there
should be a way for me to type in all the rwx names for that category in a
text field or retrieve from a Notepad file, load that file into the bot
program, then have a bot place the objects in the object yard for me, evenly
spaced, within the specified coordinates. I should also be able to have the
ability to have them placed by size (I can just load that information in
another text field or retrieve from a Notepad file or include it with the
file above). If I want all smaller objects to go around the perimeter of
that area, close to the walkway, and all the larger objects to go in the
middle, it should be able to do that, too. My idea is to keep these files
around, and each time there is a new addition, I can easily add it to that
list and the bot should be able to delete the area and rebuild it including
the new object or objects. The bot should also give a text report of all
the coordinates to the objects I place in the yard that is user friendly
with AW's teleports list so that I can use a tport 2 html program and
generate a teleportable list of the exact location of each object. I know
this might not be the answer for some of you with object yards. It doesn't
solve every problem, but it is much more organized, neater looking, a time
saver for builders looking for a specific object, but most of all a space
saver than if done by hand. It is needed when you have about 12,000 to
maintain and growing.

Request for script or program

May 29, 2003, 6:45pm
Added Note:

I would also like to be able to specify how far apart I want the objects
placed from one another.

Tourist Bot

Mar 6, 2004, 2:37am
The bot that allows tourists to put a password on their objects - is that
available in a way that only allows them to use it in that manner and no
other way? For example, no speed building, copying, listening in on
conversations, etc.? A protect a tourist build with a password only bot?

Tourist Bot

Mar 8, 2004, 10:38pm
I'm interested allowing a bot in my world who's only function would be to
protect tourist builds from non-deletion.

Can such a thing be done 1) by world configuration 2) is there such a bot
available?

Let me clarify I am not asking for such a bot to be built. Just wondering
if one exists.

I am asking if world settings allow only one certain kind of bot or is it
generalized to a yes or no to any and all bots.

Yes John. I don't want any other kind of bot in use in the world though.
Is my idea possible?

Clickable URL's & Teleports on Chatscreen

Sep 9, 1998, 9:53pm
Mirc and other clients "capture" an URL so that it can be easily
accessed.

Alot of times in high traffic areas when coords are typed on the
chatscreen (and URL's), they scroll up so fast you either have
to keep scrolling back to copy or teleport to an empty location
to keep the chatscreen from scrolling further while copying.

Please, please, figure a way to either capture the url and teleport
or click on it to activate.

TL

PS We also need a Bookmark tab for URL's that want to be saved
in the Active Worlds browser.

Clickable URL's & Teleports on Chatscreen

Sep 10, 1998, 5:52am
That's great for Citizens, but not for Tourists. I don't give my ICQ number
out to just anyone; therefore, the problem still exists...not to mention it does

nothing for the web browser bookmarks problem.

Not only that, seems to me if someone wants to show off their program to
a potential customer/tourist, they would make it easy for them to see the
coords and URL's.

TL

More Precise Coords

Mar 30, 2003, 7:11pm
When clicking on "Teleport" then "Remember", it would be very nice to have
the exact coordinates show up in that box (for example 1095.6N 988.4W 0.0a
140). When making signs, it would save steps having to save it to the
teleports list then right clicking and selecting "teleport" to see the exact
coords to copy for the sign. Yes it would add more information to the
visual teleports list, but that stuff stays to the right anyway, I don't
think it would be much of a bother to anyone since most of us look at the
label we make for coords on the left.

Browser Within Activeworlds Ability

Apr 19, 2003, 4:57pm
For example, I want to show off old Alpha World help files at my build. I'd
like to have a fully functional working html page viewable on a picture
object. It does not need to have the ability to bookmark, file save, etc.
but I'd like for it to scroll (and show a scroll bar), show the page exactly
as it appears (including jpg, bmp, gif pictures) I'd settle for jpg's only.

It does not need to be fully readable on the small pictures, but on the
larger pict objects, I want to be able to read standard sized print.

Browser Within Activeworlds Ability

Apr 22, 2003, 10:26pm
I meant something like this in the action line of a pict1.rwx object:

create browser www.somethinggoeshere.com/thelady/awhtmlpage1.html
scrollbar=red

The result of the above example html page will show up on the pict1.object
with a red scroll bar to the right. The scrollbar will have the ability to
be manipulated similar to the "examine" command except this scrolls text up
and down and across on the pict1.rwx object. And regarding the below post,
clicking anywhere on the pict1.rwx object will bring up the real html
website such as is mirrored on the pict1.rwx object.

It's a Coca-Cola Classic Ad. They don't make Coca-Cola Classic anymore. I
don't know of anymore ads AW has out there. All the soda machine rwx's have
virtual drinks. No infringement there.

Just letting you know I don't think you are suppose to use it. You make the
final decison.

Html Teleport Generator Program-Attn Ananas?

May 29, 2003, 1:02am
The sound is just an example as I am working on signs labeled with sounds in
the object yard. It was handy to use those as examples. No, I do not wish
for that sound to play when the link is clicked. Model names will be worked
on next, so I will have teleportable links to rwx names.

Essentially, I'd like whatever I name it in my list to be what comes out as
a teleportable html link to the coordinates. Apologies for the confusion.
Thank you very much in advance for taking that task on. It will save much
time.

For the kids

Aug 30, 2003, 1:23pm
New pricing plan to make it a little easier for kids to be citizens.

Cit and chat only - 19.95 per year
to build would cost more
to own a world would cost more

Not sure how it can be worked out, but we need something a little more fair
for the kids. A cit and chat only would at least give them telegram,
contact list and community chatting privileges in order to keep track of the
friends they make in AW.

For the kids

Aug 30, 2003, 7:40pm
I understand what you are saying. I was going to put an addendum to the
initial post which talks about limiting which worlds they can access with
$19.95.

It would help regarding entering of X worlds. For example, allowing them
the ability to enter worlds starting with AW only. That idea isn't set in
stone, since some adults may want to enter X worlds for $19.95.

The ability to choose what you are buying at the start, like a package deal,
which would include, for example, a certain amount of worlds would put some
minds at ease for parents. However, I know how it is, people change their
minds, might be too much of a headache, unless the company can figure a way
for the parents to change that setting online, (like the cancel option). I
think it is best done through the server level, as contacts list is done,
instead of the program. If the company thinks there would be more personnel
time involved, make it where they charge 5 dollars each time AW has to do it
per phone call, but cost nothing if parents make the change online.

My son told me he is not interested in building anymore. He did build some
things with me, but I could tell the interest really wasn't there. His
interest was in the chat, keeping up with friends. Much easier on my mind
knowing he was only entering worlds beginning with AW, where a peacekeeper
could intervene if necessary. I probably would have allowed him on AW
during the day if I had been able to have a configuration where I made the
choice which worlds he could access. I would probably have chosen AWTeen,
AWCheckers, AWChess. And for sure no gate! GK's need to be busy with
helping new people plus it's a free for all there at times. To be truthful,
that is why my son is not on AW right now, because I can't configure AW in
what I think is in the best interest of my son.
