Clickable URL's & Teleports on Chatscreen (Wishlist)
Clickable URL's & Teleports on Chatscreen // Wishlistthe ladySep 9, 1998, 9:53pm
Mirc and other clients "capture" an URL so that it can be easily
accessed. Alot of times in high traffic areas when coords are typed on the chatscreen (and URL's), they scroll up so fast you either have to keep scrolling back to copy or teleport to an empty location to keep the chatscreen from scrolling further while copying. Please, please, figure a way to either capture the url and teleport or click on it to activate. TL PS We also need a Bookmark tab for URL's that want to be saved in the Active Worlds browser. little cupidSep 9, 1998, 10:13pm
Um.....I ask people to send me URL'S thru telegrams, then in that way you
have them in your list and have no worries about trying to copy and paste it from the chat screen. So an URL bookmark would be good, cause then they can make it into a link. Plus the only thing about telegrams, is only citizens can send and receive them, which means you can't get URL's from tourists, so I think that's a greaaat idea, T.L. Also, someone mentioned to have an ONLINE list like ICQ. I think that's a great idea too! It's hard to see everyone online when you have to scroll down and it scrolls back up even before you can right-click a person's name. ;-))) [View Quote] cdmSep 10, 1998, 2:05am
yes, of course, the agenda always seems to go where the money is. even
though the sdk is free, it is mainly the commercial worlds who are asking for it, so guess who's requests get put on the back shelf. Most of the enhancements that i have been seeing lately seem to favor those who want to push some product or service. I am not accusing Roland of anything except doing what his boss tells him to, but what do you expect? Money talks. Eep² <eep at ix.netcom.com> wrote in article <35F6FA7B.B321D164 at ix.netcom.com>... That's great for Citizens, but not for Tourists. I don't give my ICQ number
out to just anyone; therefore, the problem still exists...not to mention it does nothing for the web browser bookmarks problem. Not only that, seems to me if someone wants to show off their program to a potential customer/tourist, they would make it easy for them to see the coords and URL's. I'm thinking a simple freeze chat button might be helpful, and not too
hard to do... in fact, I've made a few programs that will freeze my computer, I could then write down the info in the chat that I needed... however the disadvantage to this is that you would have to reboot to unfreeze :) [View Quote] > Mirc and other clients "capture" an URL so that it can be easily > accessed. > > Alot of times in high traffic areas when coords are typed on the > chatscreen (and URL's), they scroll up so fast you either have > to keep scrolling back to copy or teleport to an empty location > to keep the chatscreen from scrolling further while copying. > > Please, please, figure a way to either capture the url and teleport > or click on it to activate. > > TL > > PS We also need a Bookmark tab for URL's that want to be saved > in the Active Worlds browser. infinitySep 17, 1998, 12:25am
you see, what CoF doesn't understand is that Active Worlds is not yet big
enough to start thinking about money... if it wasn't for the people, there wouldn't be any company using AW... If CoF keeps on trying to please the companies, the people will leave, and in return, there will be no more new companies, and the existing ones will become bankrupt, and AW will be no more... CoF should wait until you can talk about AW online to almost anyone, and have them know what you are talking about.... for instance, most of you AW people know what quake is, but when you go into a quake game, and ask someone about AW, they would have no idea what you are talking about... AW has the potential to gain that much popularity, but CoF has to listen to the people before anything like that could happen.... also, CoF concentrates on what the people want, the people will help bring in more companies..... I would suggest that once that average amount of AW users on at the same time is at about 5000, CoF can start thinking about what the companies want.... but for right now, the should LISTEN TO US! - that's just my thought on the subject [View Quote] > yes, of course, the agenda always seems to go where the money is. even > though the sdk is free, it is mainly the commercial worlds who are asking > for it, so guess who's requests get put on the back shelf. > Most of the enhancements that i have been seeing lately seem to favor those > who want to push some product or service. > I am not accusing Roland of anything except doing what his boss tells him > to, but what do you expect? I agree completely. My post was meant to point out the flaw in COF's
thinking, but your post made the point more precisely. infinity <imm at thepoka.inn> wrote in article <36007305.B72DEFB7 at thepoka.inn>... > you see, what CoF doesn't understand is that Active Worlds is not yet big > enough to start thinking about money... if it wasn't for the people, there > wouldn't be any company using AW... OK, ppl.. here's my situation.... since an accident did me in and gives me
lots of time to either find something to do or go crazy.. I have ben working on several programs and projects related to the AW/OW environment. Why does this matter? Because I program well and like challenges. If I post programs here to assist with AW, such as catching URL, etc.... would anyone care to beta-test them? Of course, I would release source code, since most are rightfully paranoid about hackers, etc. I have been trying to follow the wishlist ng for a while and compile list of things that I have not already started to address. Basically, I would need a concise set of things to make and if ppl are willing to beta-test them when the time comes.... if ppl seem to respond well to this, I shall soon set up a webpage to register for beta-testing and get basic system info.. to know what I might be dealing with <hates Win98,btw>. If anyone is interested.... might someone help compile a list of features? I do not desire to read the 1400 posts in this ng to get the whole picture. Jumping... 'standard' or customizable jumping for distance, height, and
repititions? One thing from the list to be added is to warp to a new elevation, same position otherwise.... That is part of the setup that allows you to choose a compass direction for moving, etc. [View Quote] > If i would add one feature, it would be the ability to Jump, then many > action gamse could be made > > cheese thecheeseSep 26, 1998, 2:37am
was thinking maybe using the 0 key ( on keypad) for a jump in the air..
maybe 1 meter. Better than avatars, what would be cool is more enhanced actions on objects.
Nothing much new for a good while. Better "Animating" objects to make the environment more alive than it is. The time-related commands are either poor when it's about texture and animation (and pretty buggy), to null when it's about pics, sounds and signs. It's time... "time" becomes a true dimension here. thecheeseSep 26, 1998, 12:27pm
