Why Count......I would think you would enjoy a bit of a blood pressure
rise:) Citizen Ship hackedJul 22, 2003, 8:10pm
Maybe a forced html or sometype of popup that states in all caps the
message that is in the IO message? Or putting pertinant info in red or some other color that would stand out as something new? I don't think alot of people are really reading green text anymore. It becomes too common to see just a welcome message on landing in AW. Right now there are 3 welcome messages at the gate...the one about hacking gets lost at the top and dissappears immediateley if any one is chatting there (which happens regularly). Regarding the IO message "Welcome to the AW Universe! Reminder: Sharing Priv Passwords, changing your citizenship email address to someone else's or clicking on .EXE URL links may compromise the security of your citizenship" I might be wrong on this, but I think if I was new to AW I wouldn't know what a "Priv Password" was. Nor would I know what >EXE URL meant. We have to go back to when we were new to the net and word things as we would have understood them...I think:) Bit:) [View Quote] Citizen Ship hackedJul 23, 2003, 7:09pm
Let's get another thing straight....a citizen ship didn't get hacked, unless
of course it was the USS Activeworlds or somthin:)....lol [View Quote] Citizen Ship hackedJul 23, 2003, 10:02pm
Bowen...dear.....:)...it was the flippin space in the word that made me

Daphne....XelaG...The Lady...etc...etc...etc....
Can we all please stop for a second and truly look at all that EVERYONE gives to the CommunitY? Each and every name in this thread has given their best that they can. Amount of time spent, or monies, should hopefully not be considered here. Instead, just the fact that they GAVE. For pete's sake (sorry if there is a citizen named "pete" in aw....not referring to you:)....can we just take a deep look historically at all everyone has given, instead of hanging laundry out for everyone to see please? When I see people hurting other people in here, it saddens my heart. And the sadder it gets, the more I consider leaving AW entirely. I don't come to AW to see people attacking each other, (yes I consider the ngs part of AW, so please refrain from pointing out the difference of the two to me:). For 6 years I truly enjoyed organizing the Cys. Ya want to know why? Because the CommunitY was once a group of wonderful people, who spent thier time listening to folks problems, and walking them through the bad times. Ya'll spent a ton of time taking a new tourist or citizen under your wings and teaching them the wonderment of all AW has to offer. Ya'll had fun once, learning new things. This year will be the first year the Cys won't go on. (Sorry, I had intended to make it a formal announcement, but decided after reading this thread, to do it now.) I am going to take some time to consider the reorganization of the Cys. I am going to take some time to consider if the Cys should continue at all. When I consider the phrase "CYs are CommunitY" then read threads such as this one, I have to reconsider that phrase. I think most of you can figure out why. AW is getting to be a less fun place to be. Not because of management of the program. Not because of hacking. Not because of theft. Because of the anger and hate, bigotry and defamation of characters. Because we have lost that wonderful feeling we all had when we were young in AW........ Okie doke...Cy's are cancelled for this year...the original anniversary for
the Cys is May of 98. We might host them for May, but not sure. They definately need some redoing. Hope this helps:) Bit:) [View Quote] [View Quote] :)Sep 9, 2003, 5:55pm
Ya'll need to quit worrying:)
This is the reason behind the grams.... Telegram from incendium, sent Tue Sep 9, 2003 10:35 AM: i thought a few smiles would cheer up AW :) And it's not Robbie doing it. :)Sep 10, 2003, 1:36am
Ahhh heck Count...the intent was to make all of AW happy:)
I see it sorta like the following metaphor. Your walking down a crowded downtown street. You look up confidently and smile at everyone you see. Some people will chose to lower their heads immediately to look away, and some will smile back immediately. Those that smile back maybe will have a great rest of the day. Those that lower their heads....well...I just don't know. This reminds me soooo much of a challenge I do when I'm in a place like New York or Chicago, Tipton, Iowa or Austin Texas. What amazes me is...the bigger the city...the less people are apt to acknowledge a smile. Yet in a city like Tipton (pop.150), people wave at you and if you don't wave back...you best watch out:) Anyways...I've ranted enough for tonight:) :) [View Quote] Drac :)Sep 10, 2003, 1:38am
btw...when I smile at a stranger they usually don't ask me why I smiled.
I reckon some take it as a friendly gesture, and some just don't care. [View Quote] :) [View Quote] Drac :)Sep 10, 2003, 2:51am
The point here is that there was no sack over his head....if that were
the case he would have picked up an anonymous citizenship and did it and not told anyone who he was or what his intent was. Possibly the reason he didn't answer was he was inundated with grams back (750 to date) that he hasn't had a chance to yet. And probably won't to some that called him a slut or accused him of being malicous? I certainly wouldn't smile back at a person that "shot daggers at me" when I smiled at them. What WAS your response to the innocent smile? He didn't whisper anyone's name, he just smiled:) [View Quote] Don't forget..........not everyone received a smile. Many received blank emails. :)Sep 10, 2003, 10:41am
Dear Shalimar,
"Well, you seem to have become a self appointed defense spokesperson and soapbox cheerleader." Does the voicing of one's opinion deem them the above? If so we may all wear your titles.... " I will drop it here. But before you declare it an innocent well meaning gesture, you may want to speak with the many, many who were disturbed by it and found it strange to say the least. " *Looking for the broken shards, and not seeing them* Sir:)....I have spoken to the offended, thus my attempt to enlighten them, so they can go on their ways and know they are safe. "What WAS my response to it? Silence. I didn't ask him to answer after the fact. I don't know him. But for someone who attempted to speak "metaphorically" just two posts ago.........you missed this one by a mile! Annoying grams with no words of intent, whether it was a blank window or a smiley, from a name you have never heard of is NOT an innocent gesture." I guess I see my metaphors differently. But then I am the type of person who does her best to turn a negative into a positive:) " And can be just as eerie as the whispered voice on your metaphorical street!" *Smiles and gives you a huge hug* Now Sir......How are you feeling after a smile and hug from a non-cloaked person you know only by a citizen of Activeworlds name?:) :)Sep 10, 2003, 10:45am
"It ain't right...it just ain't right."
Where is that quote from?:) [View Quote] The bigger city, the more scared and paranoid people are, more lonely more artificial. By all mean, it did not disturbe me as I said, just thought it was a bit weird. Most peope consider me weird also, so it is ok lol In my vocabulary weird and weirdo is not a negative word. Drac :)Sep 10, 2003, 2:58pm
"I must say this was a very immature thing to do. I wish s t e f a n would
think about growing up." KAH Awwwww...shucks.....I wish we could all grow down....*shuffling foot in the dirt* Here's a question for ya'll:) What do you do today (or wish you had the nerve to) that you did when you were younger? Let's see....hmmmmm I still eat jello dry on my finger...the old "dip and lick" technique. I still play with clay making miniature thingys. I still act like a kid and do silly things in public...note:not always...lol My sister and I still wrestle on the floor and laugh till it hurts! That's just a few:) Yall's turn:) :)Sep 10, 2003, 3:20pm

[View Quote] I'm sorry, in order to distinctively decipher whether I know it all or not, you would have to actually know it all. And you don't. Too bad, so sad -- to think you do is just as bad, and you're really just an old man who thinks he has wisdom just because he's older than someone else. If you're going to have a valid point, leave out the word "kids", and if it's not too much to ask, try to gain control of your thumb muscles again. Your right pinky too. -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com/sys/ Yeah, it's that good. (Maybe an AW section in the near future?) :)Sep 10, 2003, 5:05pm
Hahahahaha!....You two are sooooooo alike!:)
My appologies to both of you before you *thwack* me:) [View Quote] I argue with people who think they know it all... hi binarybud. :) -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com/sys/ Yeah, it's that good. (Maybe an AW section in the near future?) :)Sep 10, 2003, 5:15pm
Aha!...that's the key! Both of you really really look at Bowen's statement
below...please:) "Sooo... regardless, we each specialize in different areas of knowledge." -- --Bowen-- |
