Windows Me, not 95. Yes the browser IE5 came with the OS. I've upgrade to
IE6, hence the problem just replacing the kernal32.dll. Yes, would take reformatting my PC to fix this. How did this happen you may ask? I went to the MS update site, did the 'critical' update and any non-MS program gives me the kernal32.dll error. Figures huh? Hey everyone,
I added a couple of new pokemon type avatars to the objects page today. They are on the update page. They include the avatars, textures, a few seqs and the lfa for each for anyone that has LF or AccuTrans to make their own custom seqs for them. Have fun! My .02 ... I think we're forgetting how many of the 'regular' # of
citizens, ( the 400 vs 200 # of users) are now out in other various uniservers that didn't even exist before. So, there could be even more people on-line using the technology, just not in the main AW uniserver. Casay [View Quote] New objectsJul 17, 2000, 1:42pm
Hello all! :-)
Haven't posted in awhile. Many may notice I've changed my e-mail addy... first time in years! Also wanted to let ya know there's a lot of new animal objects on the site, avatars too :-) Also, be sure to check out the links and tutorial links page. There's a ton of other free objects and step by step tutorials for a wide range of topics. Still looking for a 3ds/max tutorial if anyone has the time. Esp interested in how to build the hierarchy and set the joints in Max. I get asked about this ALL the time. Thanks in advance if you have the time to do this. Could also use an easy to follow step by step for seq creation in AccuTrans if anyone has the time too. I wish I did. http://www.awcommunity.org/objects Casay PS - Please let me know your AW name when submitting objects :-) Avatars 2000 - Coming SoonOct 5, 2000, 12:38am

Here's the URL http://www.ccon.org/conf00/flash/index.htm There is more work to be done to the site but a lot of information is there now. There are several events going to happen. Please click on the drop down menu on the top named "Events & Exhibits" for specific information on each event. We still have space left for people to contribute to: The Art Gallery- 2d art ( Maybe 3d too but I'm not sure) Worlds for the World tour- Got a world you want ppl to see? Get it added here! We have potential booth space left for those wanting to advertise. Want to do a face to face node? Check the link (FTF) for more info. !!!!And of course the Avvy Awards!!!! Have an avatar you'd like to submit in the contest? We'd love to have you. We have several catagories. Also, we're taking a few donations of avatars to be used "generally" within the world. Please contact me directly about those. Submission due date for the contest is OCT 12, 2000. I'd like to get the donations going asap. The Avatars 2000 starts on the 14th and the Avvy Awards are on the 15th. You don't have to be there to win! If you want to submit a cob or rwx avatar please use the submit page and I'll get back with you about getting your files to me for upload into the world. No avatar is to small or simple to enter, there's a catagory of the best bang for the buck, for low vert avatars. :-) Also remember this contest is NOT limited to just AW avatars but for avatars from all Virtual worlds. All the info is under the Avvy Awards link under the Events & Exhibits drop down menu. You'll find the catagories, rules, submit page and conditions there too. Looking forward to seeing everyone's work. Casay PS- Did I mention that AccuTrans is one of the prizes? *shhhh, don't tell anyone but there's more than one version to be given too* Just gotta love Wayne :-) PSS- More Prizes to be announced but I don't know what they are. New NG for AccuTransOct 20, 2000, 11:28pm
Hello all,
Andras has set up a new NG for us to discuss and get information on how to use AccuTrans. This is what he posted in his NG about it: Maybe it is a good time for me to set up a newsgroup for Accutrans: news://andras.net/accutrans enjoy (and keep the flaming minimal please?) Wayne himself will be helping out when he can. So will I as others that have used the program for awhile. I'll be giving tips here and there on how I utilize the program that I won't give anyplace else to encourage people to use the new NG. Remember, AccuTrans is only $20 now, a great buy and a must have for anyone considering making avatars for AW. http://www.quantumlynx.com/micromouse/ - download page... Be sure to get the latest version at the bottom Also at the very bottom of that page there's a new tutorial, go to the new NG to find out more. Casay PS- Thanks Andras!!! HUGE HUGZ!!! Formal Accutrans StatementOct 29, 2000, 1:17am
Excuse me?????
What the heck is this about Insanity???? I came to YOUR defense and let ppl know that the lower price had NOTHING to do with you/HeartFall Productions distributing the program. I also posted a post on behalf of Wayne in which he said that same thing, it had nothing to do with you. I think you really need to go back and READ who posted what here and in Andra's NG. I defended you when someone ELSE said it was because of your distributing the program that the price was $60. I stated that it had always been $60 LONG before you ever had a mirror site for it & that you had nothing to do with it at all. I would LOVE to see where I said that you had ANYTHING to do with the lowering of the price as I NEVER did... then when you can't find it, I'd greatly appreciate a public apology. I think you really need to go thru those posts again as I was having a FIT because he lowered the price, got very upset with someone posting about not being to put it on 2 Pc's at the same time ( which I DID misunderstand and apologized to him for that) . Do you have a clue as to my relationship with Wayne and AccuTrans?????? I think not. Do you have a clue as to how much time and effort I've put into bringing this program about for all of us? I have spent years helping on this, how many hours have you put in beta testing it??????? Do you know that I was the only beta tester for a long time?????? Why not take a look at the rwx credits sometime and see whose name is there. I'm sure you think that you brought it about as it was apparent to me because any time I posted anything about it recently you always added you .02 and your URL to the mirror site. You even went so far as to ask Wayne to not allow me to post in the NG about AccuTrans because you thought it made for confusion. The only confusion that was created back then was by people not realizing where to get the program from and that you were not the programmer but only a mirror site for it. I always appreciated your setting up a mirror site and your trying to help promote AccuTrans in the AW community as a whole. Wayne and I both thought that it coudln't hurt to have more promotion for it. Why do you think that I had ANYTHING to do with his lowering the price???? You said and I quote.. "Our belief is this, Wayne lowered the price to $20.00 because of all the incorrect feedback and pain in the butt whining he was receiving from an out of control, I want to be noticed, type of girl." Where in the world do you get that at?????? Want to be noticed? WRONG!!! Want to bring about a program that I've been trying to do for years?? ...YES.. Again. .I had NOTHING to do with the lowering of the price or you not being a distributor anymore. Anyone that knows me knows better that to believe what you have written... I'll wait for their replies and for the one from Wayne... and of course.. your apology. Casay [View Quote] Formal Accutrans StatementOct 29, 2000, 1:43am
Here's what I said.... about distributors... and price lowering..
(copy/pasted from a few of my posts to several NG's) Also, for the record.. again... this is Wayne's decision and has nothing to do with any one person in particular nor any distributor. Please read the post I'm going to post in a munite from Wayne on this. Casay This next part was posted by SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!!! I spoke to him twice this week via telephone, and I DID purchase mine. > But it is now down to 20,00 US- 30.00 Canadian, and the guy wants us to be > fair and square and pay the money for his time. > The person in the middle caused the software pricehike, and now that problem > is eliminated. So: we have a new version, cheaper price, and more online > support on the website. Even by phone as a last resort if necessary. > But you HAVE to get the new version to disable the DLL lockout as Darla has > stated. > A deal is a deal, and this is one. Not many people cut us any slack at all. I responded.... Ummm.. to clarify, there was NO person in the middle causing anything. Not a price hike, nothing... things are now the way the are and that's all there is to it.. Casay *Would like to know where I said you caused this Insanity?? * I also wrote.... Right, Heartfall is no longer a distributor, but not because they did anything wrong but because the price is so low now that Wayne cannot offer to release to them at a lower price for a profit. The price of AccuTrans was always $60, long before HeartFall became a distributor. HeartFall is a great company. They did a lot to try to promote AccuTrans to the AW community. For that, I and I'm sure Wayne greatly appreciates. So yes, HeartFall is no longer a distributor, they couldn't be with Wayne lowering the price. I hope that's clarified a bit. Please also read the new post of clarification from Wayne. Sorry for the confusion. I should never, ever, type or post when I'm upset. Did you know that HeartFall was one of the prize sponsors at the Avvy Awards??? Did you know they donated world hosting services and a free avatar from their site? Way kewl huh? Here's their URL :-) Avatars- http://www.heartfall.com/aw/avatars/ World Hosting - http://www.heartfall.com/aw/hosting2.html That's enough, I'm not going to go thru every message I wrote on this subject. I defended you several times and tried to correct what someone else said. If you can't see that I never said it, I guess it's your problem. I do expect an apology in ALL Ng's.. Thank you, Casay PS- I posted on behalf of Wayne to where he restated that distributors had nothing to do wit hthe $60 price or the lowering of it either. My formal reply to HeartFallOct 29, 2000, 3:57am
Lars, Insanity, HeartFall, whatever you wanna call yourself...
Tonight in AW, I sent you a message asking for a formal apology to your slanderous statements concerning me and AccuTrans. You have refused and threatened to sue me for slander if I posted anything you told me. You are the one that has slandered me. You stated.. "I have just read through all the posts regarding the new lower price of Accutrans. I feel I need to set the record straight and clear up all the false information posted by Casay which has caused confusion to many out there." I am not aware of false information I gave about your company & AccuTrans.. and at this point formally request that you show that I did. You said: "3. Heartfall is no longer distributing Accutrans because: A. after 90 days of marketing and downloads averaging more than 12 a day, Wayne suddenly changed without notice to us on a whim from Casay. Heartfall cannot distribute any software that does not maintain stable marketing practices." I would like you to show that Wayne's decision to lower the price of AccuTrans had anything to do with anything I said or did. That is was a "whim" of mine. In this next part you accuse me of being a liar, spreading false information and not having any knowledge of the program and should not be posting in the NG about it even though I have been for close to 2 years now... I have been posting with the programmer's knowledge, on his behalf and with his full permission as you very well know. Restating.. ON HIS BEHALF!!! He tells me what he needs people to know and I post FOR him. You know this information directly from him yet you lead people to believe that I have given false information. No, I never had a business relationship to your company and never claimed to. Yes, I have had a very long term relationship with the programmer and owner of AccuTrans. A lot longer that the 2 months you had a mirror site. Again, I expect a full public apology. We would appreciate if Casay would please keep her comments and stories to herself. We have never had any relationship with Darla other than an occasional chat in AW. Darla was not ever a part of Heartfall using Accutrans, nor being a distributor of Accutrans, or a part of our company in any way. There will always be those out there who cry for attention and in that process bring down the good that was once around them. People should be fully aware of these facts... the only people who can ever correctly state facts about software are the manufacturing companies themselves or their licensed distributors. Those two entities have both the education to properly speak, and the investments to protect their interests and properly inform, therefore providing the end user with the TRUTHS. AT3d PriceOct 30, 2000, 7:32am
This was posted by Wayne in Andras's new AccuTrans newsgroup, thought I'd
cross post it over here for those that don't know the new ng exists for discussion of AccuTrans, it's uses, ideas, help for it and so on. Some history on the license fee (price) of AccuTrans 3D. The Amiga version was released in July, 1993, for a retail price of US $ 59.95. This version was packaged with a printed manual and was to be sold through the regular retail software channels. This meant distributors and retail stores. Distributors were not interested in the product because the profit potential was deemed too small for the limited amount of potential sales. Also Commodore filed for bankruptcy. After the release of Windows 95, the program was ported to this operating system. It was decided to make the program affordable it would be released in electronic format only (no packaging, printed manuals, disks, etc.) and only sold direct from MicroMouse Productions (no distributors and retailers). The Windows version was released in May, 1997 for an introductory price of US $ 60.00. At the end of the introductory period the introductory price became the regular price. Even though there has been inflation and new features added to the Windows version, the price has not been increased. No one has been charged for software upgrades. The price for the Windows version was decreased to US $ 20.00 in October, 2000. The price had remained constant for over three years. Casay contacted me in late January, 1999, about adding support for RWX to AccuTrans. Since then she has put in considerable unpaid time helping beta test the program, commenting on features added or not added, promoting and advertising the program in the Active Worlds community, etc. Casay never asked to have copy protection removed or to lower the price. She remains the spokesperson for AccuTrans 3D in the Active Worlds communities. In July, 2000, Heartfall Productions contacted me for information on a resellers program. Neither Casay nor Heartfall Productions were involved when the US $ 60.00 price was established. Also nothing that was done or not done by Casay or Heartfall Productions was used in the decision to reduce the price to US $ 20.00. Copy protection (security module) has been used and not used on the program. Copy protection is really only used to try and get people to pay the license fee. Copy protection only hinders the people who have paid the license fee. They have to worry that the company stays in business so they can continue to use the software if they have trouble with security and need a new password. Any security on a software executable program can be defeated because the program has to be able to run on the computer. The more complicated security just makes the hacker take more time to remove it. On a low cost program, I became tired talking about security and the price so I removed security and lowered the price. If a large enough market share can be obtained from the users of 3D conversion software, then the decision to lower the price was okay. If it doesn't work then the only person to blame is myself. Many more things could be said on this subject but they will not be. The security module will remain disabled and the price will remain at US $ 20.00. Please cease this flame war, apologize where necessary and forget the incident. Wayne Hogue MicroMouse Productions Looking special AvatarNov 3, 2000, 8:00am
There was a great preacher avatar entered in the Avvy Awards. It would need
converted over to rwx but not to hard with AccuTrans around. Contact Mr Phillip, by following the link in his booth in the Av00avvy world and ask if it would be OK for use in AW. Hello everyone,
On Saturday, December 2, at 3pm VRT, we will be opening a new world called Objectd'. Yes, it's what you think it might be; the object yard of all object yards, a world of all the free objects on the Objects d' Active Worlds site. www.awcommunity.org/objects The next phase will be to add others free objects that they have on other sites. Some are already there. We will also get to the point where we will showcase some of those objects. I'd like to thank Daphne & Lady Bunny for all their hard work in helping to create and organize this world. Thanks so much ladies! All the objects in the world are sorted into areas that match the sections of the site. Teleports & information are directly north of ground zero (GZ). The world is meant to be used in conjunction with the web site. Many of the donated objects have been fixed so don't assume you've seen them all. The world is "G" rated. There's several new objects already posted to the site on the updates page. Yes, those are new donations from Wascally Wabbit. He has kindly donated several new objects that will be added to the site over time. The most recent updates can be found in the world around GZ or in their respective sections. If they are large object or sets of objects you'll find teleport links to them in the same updates areas around GZ. We are also in the process of having many of the sets built as examples for you to look at. The world will be growing on an almost daily basis for awhile so be sure to check back often. I would like to suggest for those that have slower PC's to lower their visibility to 40 meters. We've spread things out as much as we can but there's some objects that are very hi poly/vert and may cause some lag. Please have patience as we continue to develop the world. If you have problems please direct that information to me but also remember I'm just one person. I will take care of things as fast as I can. We hope to have a huge influx of new donations so if you donate be sure to use the submit button and include the information that's asked for there. IE- poly/vert count, scale info & a screen shot of your object. It takes me a long time to get that info for an object. If you donate without the information it will be awhile before it's added. Thanks again to Daphne and Lady Bunny for their help. Also a huge thanks goes out to AW for the donation of the world and web space. Hope everyone enjoys this! Casay Objects d'AWDec 7, 2000, 7:30pm
Hello all!
Wanted to let eveyone know that the world has opened and everyone seems to love it. There are several new updates that have been added to the site also. Objects on the Updates page can be found around ground zero in one of 4 Updates areasor a sign/link/teleport to those that are to large are in the Updates area #1. Thanks for all the new donations, keep them coming. :-) Also, please make sure you use the submit button on the web site and include poly/vert & scale info & a screen shot of your object. This helps sooooo much! Yes, we do accept cob objects but it's very hard for me to look at them in TS due to where different people place their textures on their hard drive. I would prefer that the objects are converted to rwx first. You can go ahead and submit it but it might be awhile before I get a chance to convert it and add. I can provide the rwx & cob object on the web site if requested but I'm trying to keep only rwx in the world since some people have problems with cob objects. Have fun! Hello all,
Wanted to let everyone know that I'll be leaving to Florida for the Holidays and won't be back until after the 1st of the year. Please don't send donations during this time as I won't be here to add them. Thanks to all that have donated. Looking forward to more. Happy Holidays to all! Casay "Restricted Commands"Jan 13, 2001, 1:17am
If an object had it's axis translated far off of center then there's huge
potential for abuse. An object could be rotated right through your property from far away without some kind of restriction. Now in the AW worlds that's somewhat controlled by not having objects that are like that. Still, large objects could also do the same thing.
