My guess would be : it's just a block with 1:2:4 side
length relation

I wasn't so wrong with my assumption of the edge lengths then.

A!!CT looking for new host

Dracula has a local copy of my OP on his server that he
can link into a combined multipath/fetch script, plus a
lot more free objects :

Well, myactiveworlds.com is not my site *g

Dracula IS lazy though, you're right. I will kick him sometimes.

Most worlds are running on the latest server though, so not
everything is dated 2001 there :)

Port surfing, illegal ?

Jul 16, 2003, 3:36pm
You're wrong, INI files are supposed to be modified, that's
what the format has been designed for. Most of the INI file
is not part of the AW delivery anyway. Beta testers even
are encouraged to modify some INI file settings.

Neither my AwStart nor the Russian one are illegal (well,
duplicate name, sorry) as they do not modify any part of
the AW software, they just change the configuration.
The russian one even has been on the Russian AW web site
for some time (that's where I found it by chance)!

The only thing that might be a problem would be that I used
the same name (not knowing there was already an awstart.exe).

Maybe Calpantera was drunk when he wrote this telegram.

Port surfing, illegal ?

Not part of the installed file set.
The EULA HAS to be installed if it is supposed to be valid
and binding. Even Microsoft had to learn that.

Port surfing, illegal ?

The major problem that I wanted to solve with AwStart was loosing
the contact list when switching universe server and port.

AwStart is not really needed for newer universes anymore because
the contact list is kept on the universe server now.

An even better example :

http://www.activeworlds.com/help/uniserver_access.html

They _ENCOURAGE_ you

<quote>

To customize your browser, add the following two lines to the top of the aworld.ini file:

[universe]
host=domain name or IP address of the UniServer machine

</quote>

You see that the telegram is plain nonsense.

Port surfing, illegal ?

Jul 16, 2003, 4:18pm
nope, it is the browser's aworld.ini - they explain
how to connect to your own universe by modifying the
universe settings of your browser.

<quote>To customize your browser, ...</quote>

Port surfing, illegal ?

Jul 16, 2003, 4:41pm
Well, even easier than comparing the IP :)

If you change the [universe] section and do not modify the
[citizen] section, your browser will try to login with the
same name and password that it had stored in the previous
universe. At least it does that if you tell the browser to
remember the login informations.

The risk is clear of course : the owner of the new universe
probably knows a valid login from the first universe now.
He does not know which universe it is from but the chance is
high that it is the one on default host/port.

Virus again

Jul 26, 2003, 3:25am
I just got a virus from

BSN-77-245-30.dsl.siol.net [193.77.245.30]

It contains a readme.zip containing "readme.html" which is
actually an encoded EXE file with some script code which
tries to execute the EXE file :

Or maybe ask to enable it for this purpose?

Floopy drive help

Aug 4, 2003, 2:22am
It is usually what a floppy drive does when you plug
in the data cable in the wrong way.

While it does that, it can even destroy data on write
protected floppy disks I heard.

Floopy drive help

They used to have one red wire, all others are grey.

The red wire is cable #1 and has to be the one that
is closest to the power plug. This is valid not only
on floppy drives but on HDs too.

The notch came later because too many ppl. didn't know
about the pin 1 rule.

Condemnation of AW Citizens

Aug 20, 2003, 4:07pm
You must feel really helpless to wish something like that back.

Check the google NG search if you love eep so much.

The Lady might sound a little strange sometimes (well, often) -
but I prefer strange over mean. Mean is usually on purpose.

Condemnation of AW Citizens

Aug 23, 2003, 4:54am
It goes on as long as people open new hate branches in
those threads.

The Lady does no harm so where's the freedom of speach?
She does not attack individuals, doesn't use foul language
doesn't attach huge files or use HTML so there is not any
reason to delete her threads.

Her opinions are quite extreme for AW of course - but if you
dig in the history, you will find people who had extreme
thoughts, have been killed or banned or laughed about and
are heroes today.

ActiveWorlds is maybe not the right place - but there is an
Internet Parliament now for the online community and I bet
that the first ones who asked for it has been laughed about.
It has no power yet and only few privateers are members -
but it is a start and would not exist if there were no ppl.
with "strange" ideas.

There's definitely _no_ reason to delete The Lady's threads.

post in the NGs :

I am the real Dreamtime. Some stole my passwords and used it to make the
crappy post. FF. it was not me. The person who wiped out my worlds did this.
My norton virus program did not see it as a virus. :(

As I received this as a reply to an email that I sent
to Dreamtime, I can be absolutely sure that this is
not a fake.
