What's up is that your typing style is extremely annoying. If you want some
help from other people, **make it easy for them to read your problem**!!!!! Rolu [View Quote] Midi,Wav ProblemsJan 16, 2001, 11:59am

That's the idea of testing. Messing around with something, to find out how
it works, where it doesn't work, how to make it better, etc. It's good to have some fun while doing so. Rolu [View Quote] i miss 3.1Jan 17, 2001, 6:14am

In other words, you have a crappy computer? Any decent computer can handle a
load of 100% 24h a day, week after week. If not, something is very wrong. By the way, dealing with a huge swap file is *never* going to max your CPU out. Disks are very slow compared to the CPU, so if you are doing disk work, most of the time the CPU is waiting (and therefore not generating much heat). > Using beta software is putting that $2k wonderbox on > the line. That's bull shit at best. Software is not going to destroy hardware, unless the hardware is already broken. > I haven't really read any warentys because my overclocking habits > void them anyway Ah, so you overclock your computer? In that case, it's entirely your fault when something goes wrong. And again, if you overclock your CPU so much it breaks when you use it completely, you did something wrong anyway. Non-overclocked CPU's will *NOT* break at 100%. > but it's logical to include use of potentially damaging > software Software can completely mess up other software. In that way it can be damaging. But it's not going to damage your computer. > as a way to void it on certain equipment (motherboard, RAM, video, > CPU, HDD). Think before you talk, twit. Think before *YOU* talk. > > > Wow, I'm becoming a hardware Eep. At least Eep knows what he's talking about. GOD DAMNET HELP KILL THE GUY IN MY NAMEJan 17, 2001, 6:10am

Now you try to use some logic. The real agent never makes sense, so you
aren't the real agent fox mulder. Rolu [View Quote] GOD DAMNET HELP KILL THE GUY IN MY NAMEJan 17, 2001, 8:04pm
And we hate it when you do it this way. There is nobody talking through what
you are saying here, so you can easily post the normal way. You are merely bugging people off now. Finally, they'll ignore you. So stop this annoying stuff, and people might actually listen to what you have to say. Rolu [View Quote] GOD DAMNET HELP KILL THE GUY IN MY NAMEJan 22, 2001, 11:18am

Mulder. Definately.

Maybe... but for now he's the most irritating one here.
NOT > > Off course :) They annoy me and that's my thought. Makes sense. It might when people start asking technical questions. > I like to read interesting discussions but too much polemics and abuse > here at the moment. It has been like that for a long time. They closed the newsgroups for tourists to prevent it, but it didn't help (and I'm glad it didn't, I think the ng's should be open for tourists so they can come here with questions and stuff) There are always people shouting at each other, and as long as it doesn't get too annoying, it's ok for me. It works quite counterproductive when you are forced to be nice when you are mad. As far as I'm concerned, it's still ok in these newsgroups. > > No way ! *grin* > Social disabled contest?Jan 17, 2001, 8:14pm

Dont't depend on it that his ISP will kick him off directly when an abuse

You aren't the first one saying that. Therefore your post is quite
redundant. Should you have posted it? > Like some of the stuff AgentFox Mulder puts. He's learning. > Some > of the stuff latly has been usless, and meangless, like someone was bord > and decided to annoy the hell out of me. Bored, maybe. But I doubt they did it to annoy you. > Now if ppl would just not wast there time making letters that dont > make sence (not metning ppl) and i can name quite a few. People posting useless stuff is one thing. But people complaining about it only increases the amount of useless new posts. > and if u have a > good decent question post it, So we may only post questions here? Now that would be boring... > and dont post like "today i went to > school" THING, stuff ppl dont care about Maybe you don't care. But that certainly doesn't mean other people won't care either. If someone feels like talking about going to school or something, that's ok in this newsgroup. After all, it is the community newsgroup. If you think it's not worth reading, just don't read it. If it's a really stupid post, you can complain. But it's not as if this newsgroup must be productive only. Rolu Help me clear my good nameJan 27, 2001, 11:46am
Posting a week after the thread died is quite annoying too. If you are out

This server once had a test newsgroup, where you could go when you wanted to
test something, or just to post useless crap if you felt like doing so. Wonder if it will come back one day. Rolu [View Quote] Reminder - to all the newbie twits: take your shit ELSEWHEREJan 24, 2001, 4:21pm
When you make a HTML message with OLX, your text is put in twice. Once
without HTML, and once with HTML. The HTML formatting usually makes the part with HTML 1.5 to 2.5 times as big as the non-HTML part. So, if you make 1kb of text and post it as html, it becomes about 3kb. The header itself takes up another kb or so. If you make large posts, or a lot of posts, this can add up quite quickly. Use a decent defrag tool. The default windows defrag tool is a slow piece of
crap. Norton has a good one. But if you insist on using the windows defrag, NEVER let it rearrange the programs on your disc, this slows down enormously. Rolu [View Quote] AW Not workingJan 22, 2001, 11:18am
Erm, WHO exactly are you replying to? Would you mind trying to actually
reply to the post you are replying to next time? You don't even seem to be replying to me, yet you replied to my post. [View Quote] It does take up a lot of space after a while, and it can slow things down a bit. Therefore it's a good idea to wipe it every now and then. > as for reformating i supose you will try to tell me that this does damage to > your hd?? No idea who you think would try to tell you that, but I didn't even saw someone make a hint in that direction in this thread. > guess what i know for a fact that it does no such thing period. Normal formats won't, they just write data to your disk. A low-level format can do damage, as every HD manufacturer can tell you. And even they don't really "do" damage. Every modern HD has bad pieces of surface. These are detected by the manufacturer, and the HD can work around them transparently. But a low-level format can accidentally mark some of the bad pieces as good, and therefore screw up your HD. By the way, if you actually start seeing bad sectors, this means the surface of the HD is damaged so much at that point that it couldn't work around it anymore. > as for backing up you system files thats foolish. > reason lets see you back up your hd and systme files regualry. > then you start getting crashes and restore you most recent back up of your > system files guess what you just restored the cause. Or maybe you didn't. If you seriously back up everything, you can always restore multiple dates. Suppose you install a program, and start getting problems just after. If uninstalling the program doesn't work, you can just put a backup in place you made before you installed the program. Putting a complete backup in place costs way less time than formatting your HD, reinstalling windows, reinstalling all drivers windows missed (sound card, joystick, TV card, video card, network card), reinstalling all programs and messing with the windows settings so they are back to what you wanted. > back up down loaded programs only the installers and zips your docs and > maybe your ini and config files. > never back up system files less you want back in the same deal again. Do your backup work right and you won't have that problem. > as for reformating it cleans up your hd and can even fix some bad areas on > the hd. "fix" bad area's? No it won't. It will only mask them. And if you have bad area's format detects, it's time to see whether you can trade it in for a working one. > i have been working on puters sence 486 dx 4 100s were still considered mid > and high end puters. > so dont try telling me reformating a hd will damage it in any way shape or > form. > as i know better. Lame argument. There are people who drive cars for over 25 years, and don't have the slightest idea of how an engine works. If you touched your first computer 3 days ago, it's quite certain that you aren't experienced. On the other hand, if you are working with computers for 6 years or so, that doesn't mean you are experienced. > [View Quote] |
