I don't agree.
> Still no real-time (in-world) editing. might come - in the future. > Atmosphere still works off that "solitary level editor" idea which means building takes place in a wireframe, fixed-view (top, side, or isometric) > Those aren't really fixed - you can rotate them and zoom in and out. > view and can only change lighting and textures in 3D view. But at least worlds are free to create (as many as you want) and they do look kind of cool, though no object interactivity or anything--purely for "art". > I think you missed something here. There *is* interactivity. You can completely script your world with JavaScript. With it, you can move things around, make sounds, do animations, react on the user (although last time I checked clicking on objects didn't really work well due to a bug), and a lot more. It's a zillion times more advanced than AW's 'scripting'. And you can also script the avatars to make them do things. > Anyway, nice to see Anarchy back...hopefully Adobe will improve it much, however... I'm sure they will :-) rolu Re: Adobe Atmosphere (formerly Anarchy) debutesApr 1, 2001, 6:59pm

They are actually looking beyond wintel platforms only, and non-hardware acc
stuff is not tied to certain hardware. It will get hardware acc later on, but the priorities are elsewhere (at creating a nice, interactive environment). rolu Re: Adobe Atmosphere (formerly Anarchy) debutesApr 1, 2001, 7:03pm

Why do you think it's still in beta? It's not finished yet. It's been
software only for over two years, and still lives. I expect it to live for quite a bit longer. rolu How to get rid of the crEepy trolls?Apr 3, 2001, 6:00pm

It only works if everybody does it - in other words, the person behind the
counter must ignore the impolite queue too. If, in the newsgroups, only two people rant at each other, that's enough to go on. One person won't make it. rolu How to get rid of the crEepy trolls?Apr 5, 2001, 3:35pm

That varies. In the post office there's a clear you <-> person behind the
counter. Here we all talk to each other, so we all take turns. > It's not a question of ranting..I am understanding it is a question of > beign offensive, unpolite, rough, superficial, depressive and inadequate...who's > not bothering means won't spend a penny of his precious time to build anything > more than what is already available on the net, ...though... the net was built > by ppl that did spend much of their precious time to share ideas and help...long > ago People are sharing help, thoughts and idea's more than ever using the net. This includes things you won't like. rolu How to get rid of the crEepy trolls?Apr 6, 2001, 3:23pm

Some people consider flaming a sport, for example. They honestly like to
flame each other over all kinds of silly things. (but not on the "you suck" level - that's just stupid flaming.) Other people think those people are sick and don't want to get near them. In general, since there are so many people online, there are always people who do and say things you don't agree with or are annoyed by. The web contains a lot of crap. Some people freak out on the amount of crap and think the net is a mess, others just search for the gems. It's just a matter of how you choose to view it. rolu |
