Great to hear that, it would have saved me a lot of time some months
ago when I had to make lots of these files in Notepad :) On the other
hand, if I had known, I might not even have made my multi-page editor,
which does exactly what I want it to do! Sometimes ignorance is

Caretaker recognition...

Jun 17, 2004, 6:57pm
LNH,

The AW SDK does not allow bots to see who is caretaker or not, except
in one case:
the bot is caretaker with citnum X, and someone else present also is
citnum X or wears citnum X privs. So there is no automatic way for
bots to know who is caretaker, except for its own cit if the bot is
caretaker.

If you know the citnums of caretakers, follow zeofatex's instruction.

Please note that xelagot does NOT recognise privs when talking of
ownership, only login cits. The reason is for security, because
owners have a vast range of functions at their disposal which could
harm if misused.

Log into the universe first, ownership block works in side each
universe differently. I may want to disable that when bots are not
logged in, it is confusing even for me :)

Jun 17, 2004, 7:20pm
Second owner can only be appointed inside a world using a verbal
command, and is for limited time. All cits on the permanent list are
first owners. The first one on the list is login owner. Login owner
has a few more rights than other first owners, mostly related to
voiding or reentering the bot and loading/executing scripts.

In my previous post, I said "block" was per universe. I made a
mistake: block ownership is related to this temporary 2nd owner.

What i just said below is crap, it applies to listening restricted,
not to block ownership!

It only sends to those who are on whiper list. If you right-click on

Well, I personally do not think it would serve most people's
convenience. Sending to all puts a heavy load on the world server,
and I prefer to restrict it. So I did not make it a default setting,
but it is available. For bots using scripts, it can be made default,
but it should be used very discreetly.

No, the only one that can issue a VOID verbal command is the login
owner. Using a script, other possibilities emerge.

Xelagot 3.600 with SQL

Jun 19, 2004, 2:44pm
Due to a delay in the availability of AW 3.6 SDK build 38, this
version is compiled with AW 3.5 SDK build 37.

It is interesting for scripters, as it includes connectivity to some
SQL databases, especially to mySQL.

Please read details at
http://www.imatowns.com/xelagot/xlgwhatsnew.html

Alex

Xelagot 3.600 with SQL

Jun 19, 2004, 7:36pm
SQL is a language supported by various database engines. I can not
give a course on SQL, there are many books about it, and I know too
little myself. An open source SQL database engine is MySQL. What
xelagot does is connect to this sort of database, retrieve or change
information.

Up to now, xelagots would have to load a full database file in xelagot
format. Using an external database means, for example, that xelagot
only needs to have one (or more) database record(s) in memory. The
database need not even be on the same machine as the bot (although in
that case a fast connection is required so as not to freeze the bot).

Xelagot still uses, internally, the xelagot database format, based on
name=value strings. That has not changed, so not all database tables
are suitable for it. But for people who know how to use SQL
databases, I think it is a great step forward.

The Delphi source code to load xgDLLSQL.dll (the dll that does the SQL
connection for xelagot) is available at:

http://www.imatowns.com/xelagot/xgsqlloader.zip

The loader should work with Delphi 4 upwards, I tested it with Delphi
5. If someone is interested to port it to C/C++ or VB, please let me
know: xelag at 3dee.nl

NOTICE REGARDING "PestPatrol" AND CHATRELAYBOT SOFTWARE

Jun 28, 2004, 9:22pm
False positives have been detected earlier also in SpyBot: 3DCanvas
stood also on SpyBot's black list, but had no spyware at all. So
double check, not all that is called malicious is malicious :)

>Please note that PestPatrol is only capable of saying the uninstaller is “suspected” to have the keylogger; it cannot 100% prove that the keylogger is present. terrain bot

Jul 22, 2004, 3:39am
The terrain specifications are not modifiable locally by a browser.
The only thing the browser can do is download the terrain (ascii) file
and render it. Call yourself lucky if that succeeds :)

In fact, AWI has made a big blunder in its hole code (no pun implied).
Originally, it reserved four of the 256 byte encodings for special
effects. One of them was to become the hole in terrain. The net
effect was that one would have textures from 0 to 62 available in four
rotations (terrain0 to 62 = 63 terrain textures x 4 possible rotations
N W S E, 252 combinations), the non used "terrain63" was the reserved
space with 4 possibilities for special effects, one of them to be used
for hole. Due to bad programming, another byte encoding was used for
the hole, not using one of the 4 reserved encodings, but the one
corresponding to texture62 (a legal texture) fourth rotation pointing
east (try it and you get a hole). I pointed out this mistake to
Shamus, and he called me bluff in the beta ng (by lack of decent
answer), his ignorance and utter arrogance, not mine, any programmer
with a bit of mind can check this. A good programmer will acknowledge
her/his mistakes. The original 3.3 code (and mistake) was from Roland
Vilett, understandable because of his inminent demise, but it was
still relatively easy to correct when discovered early in 3.4 beta, a
few months after the introduction of 3.3. It is now virtually
impossible to do so, because terrain with holes has been widely
implemented and a change in the hole code would be difficult to
correct. So we are stuck now with one texture less: 62 instead of 63
textures for terrain.

The world still goes round though, even if the summer is crappy in
Amsterdam :)
