No, the CDs are free. You pay for the registration code and the box.

Then explain the massive difference in OEM package and retail package prices
when both include the CD and reg code and the only difference is that one
has a little brown carton and shrink wrapping while the other is in a pretty
embossed box?

I normally buy OEM software along with the cheapest thing you can buy for a
computer at that particular site (normally IDE cables or a bag of screws
LOL). Adds about $1 to the cost of the software.

Moron, do you know ANYTHING about server structure? Or computers in general.
Even under Windows, if someone DID manage to possess my computer, it's a
simple pull the plug operation to regain control. Not that it's even
possible.

We never claimed to know you. You're just a paranoid kid. By the way, an
abuse report will be being sent to your internet provider once I figure out
how to view message source on Outlook. I encourage others to join me in
doing so, we just might teach one wannabe hacker the errors of his ways.

I don't notice anything resembling a header download on a 56k modem. It
happens prettymuch instantaniously at 53k, so chances are your modem isn't
pulling it's weight.

I wouldn't even call it hacking. However, script kiddies aren't the
favorites if their ISP. Oh yeah, I'm quite aware of the suckiness of
Prodigy. The thing is, they're the only ISP with a local dialup that doesn't
charge $1 an hour for every hour beyond 150 (Verizon)

[View Quote] > My argument about gamelike features was that the most important thing

Why keep babying the older customers who can't afford your service at it's
full potential? You'll make a lot more money catering to higher end users,
because there are lots more of them, and people running next-generation AMD
CPUs with 512mb of RAM and GeForce III's in a couple months will be
incredibly disappointed with AW when theres so much better stuff out there.
You lose more customers staying low-tech than you do going high-tech. The
vast majority of computers don't stay outdated. They either get broken or
upgraded. Even my oldest computer, a 5 year old Macintosh has exhibited much
better graphics performance than AW has on my Duron 1050 (I know they don't
make them that fast). Why? Not because the mac is better, but because the
software was better.

Plugins, new idea...

Mar 15, 2001, 8:45am
Actually, I believe I had one of those :) Ran AW on it towards the end of
it's lifespan

As far as I know I haven't gotten that virus yet. And I sure aint a newbie.
Now a statistical anomaly is pretty likely concidering I get 9 copies of
happy99.exe every damned day and never anything else and have never been
infected by a legit virus. That I know of anyway. I should run a scan and
see if anything turns up :)

AW Needs a New GZ, anyone agree?

going to use the winner to replace it, but midway through the contest, they
backed out.

demented. You can't even see the thing unless you're looking for it.

Are you sure you weren't Darwin in a past life and are seeing that you were
wrong about evolution? Perhaps when life reaches a certain stage of
structured living, it becomes continually harder to adapt to changes and
therefore evolve.
