One will do, we need to cut our losses here.
*mental imagery*
<Usama Bin Laden with the nose of an American B-1b bomber stuck into his
stomach, pinning him to a wall, holdin off a squad of US Marines invading
the complex after the bomber crashed into and became wedged into the
building with that AK-47 he never seems to be without. The weapons officer
on the four man crew, the only survivor, shoots him in the hand, causing him
to lose his grip on the gun and successfully drawing Usama's attention. The
soldier waves and pushes the plane to full afterburner, until Bin Laden is
cut into two pieces by the plane's nose, when he promptly cuts all power to
prevent blowing himself and everything else up.>
*mental imagery over*

I certainly hope that you're not implying that anyone in AW would be as
dishonest as to cheat at a "game" of sorts and rob a virtual bank.
Well, okay, maybe the dishonesty is there, but the skills are not. I'm
perfectly confident that NOBODY in AW has the "m4d skillz0r" neccesary to
"hack" (term used losely) the WinXP box that's hosting this bank.

CC'd to Roland as well as this newsgroup
Roland, might wanna check the wishlist NG under this thread.
The registry ALREADY contains all 3 values, x,y,z.
As it stands now, the y (or is it z?) value is completely ignored by AW. Why
not have the server substitute the height of the object for the width and
depth to find the maximum potential area covered by a rotation. The same
goes for the other axes to check for encroachment on other rotational axes.
This would only be triggered IF a rotation code exists in the action field.
Because of the significant extra horsepower the server would need, make it
an option through the ini or admin tool or somthing, preferably on a per
world basis.

What PCI slots are they in? (They're numbered from top down)
Having a device in both 4 and 5 is generally a no-no.
Most BIOS SAY you can change IRQ settings, but 90% of the time (by experience) they don't work.
As Tyrell says, go into BIOS and power down everything you don't use.
LPT1, COM1 and COM2, onboard sound, onboard video, SCSI, all that extra junk you don't use. And clear out all those extra drivers
that might be floating around in Windows.

This whole deal brings up an excellent point. When in the hell is someone gonna figure out that in the olden days you COULDN'T run
out of resources, in particular IRQs, and now it's all too easy to (I'm 100% OUT using just video, sound, modem and both IDE
controllers, leaving me with a disabled LAN, that's TWO PCI slots in use, and I paid for 5)

Since you got a new machine, I wouldn't bother with it. Chances are HP being a major OEM, they didn't configure the dern thing for
plug and play, which means that either A) You need to enable it or B) You need to be a highly technical being to install any device.
No matter what tech support says, IT'S NOT FRIED IF IT STILL BOOTS AND WORKS WITH THE LAST SET OF FUNCTIONAL HARDWARE!

Intel OEM fans don't do much anyway, but just in case, is it a Socketed Pentium 1 or slotted P2 or a Celery (Celeron)
However, I overheat computers on a regular basis and never experience any longterm problems. The motherboard shouldn't be damaged if
the CPU overheats, even for extended periods, unless you start getting goop leaking out of the chip (Liquified Athlon :)

At one point there was a 50k post in an attempt to show how HTML could be
abused, made by myself. Unfortunately, it seems to have given people Tyrell
a justification to post more. As far as websites being smaller than some
HTML posts, www.systemrecall.com has an average HTML return, after the
server processes your request based on our PHP and databases, of only 5kb.
Considering the fact that all our graphics are consistant, once you get past
the front page, you have everything cached that you'll ever need for the
site, except for a few quick downloads for other images.

Actually, nothing beats Notepad. Do it by hand and then, if you do it right,
you can make it so you never have to code a whole new page from scratch.
Static HTML is just boring...

Builderrrrrrrrz, you hafta remember, only some of us have the appropriate
resources and skills to operate a full scale security testing situation such
as what you described. I FIRMLY believe that 90% of the time, all virii
infections are caused by overhyped software, such as Win2k and this
WORTHLESS stock quote bot. ZA/ZAP is also overhyped, which is a decent
deterrent to the damaging overhyped software and the shortcoming of other
overhyped software (OS's)
The same goes for virus detection software. If you're careful, you don't
need it.

A script kiddie is a wannabe hacker that think that they're a real hacker.
Examples of scriptes include executables in that context. And a kiddie
denotes that they're a wannabe. By definition, a script kiddie is one who
uses any targetside script or DDoS attack to do harm to a targetted system.
A cracker is similar, except all scripts are done infiltration side, and a
hacker is similar to that, though they often know everything that is to be
known about computers and how they function, and rarely have malicious
intents about breaking into systems.

And any such widespread call to take down servers based upon events
COMPLETELY unrelated to the secure operation of the software is UNFOUNDED in

I was about to post a retraction, sometimes my fingers get ahead of my mind.
You, errr, beat me to it.

I don't know if the Taliban realizes this, but ALL their neighbors have
nuclear weapons.... They don't.

What in the HELL is wrong with you? Can't you accept the fact that some
people in this world CARE about each other? The world is owned by
Activeworlds Corp. The fact that they are there to assist people that wish
to pay their respects should mean NOTHING to ANYONE.
Only you can take a good sameritan and hate them.
