Just wondering, since alot of ppl assume aw is an american only thing
(usually americans, lol)....how many ppl are and arent from the US?

No offence to anyone who may take offence to that... :o)

I'm Norwegian :-)) I think that the norwegians are like the 3rd biggest
community here, cuzz we're everywhere!!!

It's not easy to take this from the host statistics :

- many non-US providers have .com, .net and .org
- many people from everywhere install english browsers and not
the often not very good translated ones
- the AW browser doesn't have a country code at all

A very rough guess for the active citizens would be
somewhere between 25% and 35%, but that's off course
activity, not citizenship.

Besides net, com and org, I find quite often no, uk, au,
it, ca, ru, nz, nl, fi and de.
Some other countries do not appear in my stats as it extracts
only the top20 but I looked through it sometimes (curious;)
and found access entries from lots of other places.

But all the countries that you can detect together
are much less than each of the 3-letter TLD's so this
is really very rough.

But off course that isn't only from the AW universe, there
are galaxies and universes in several other countries, from
what I recall at the moment : uk, cc, se, it, at, nl, kr,
tw and de - so it is quite sure that not all connects come
from AW citizens.

Finland here. I think that there is atleast 10 active finnish people as aw citizen currently.

I remember distinctly back in 1996 that there were swarms of people from
Finland using Active Worlds. There were literally several people from
Finland always hanging around AW GZ. Whenever someone would say
"age/sex/place check," there would be at least a few replies from
Finnish people. I don't know where they all got to now, but I don't see
nearly as many Finnish people around now then when I did back then.

as everyone knows by now... I'm from syracuse NY = USA Boy and i install
the English stuff. [I can read a little German from my golden oldie
Mega Atari-STe days though... and reading that software enough to run it
properly took some doing...]

I don't think anyone assumes AW is american, we just have to work the
program as if it was in many instances though. But look at the foreign
language worlds sometimes and you'll see that they can top the population
list in many instances. For every one person in aw that is from another
country, there is at least 2 from that same country.

I am from Finland ,not a very active citizen more like a lazy one though.

Actually at one time I think there WERE only Americans in AW...I remember how excited I was to
see someone speaking another language for the first time. :) That was long ago tho.
