First everyone accuses of AW of listening to the "big-money customers" in
the big corporations. Now... just now when the perception is getting around
that they're starting to listen to the common user, some people want them to
listen to the big-money customers again. This just goes to show that they
can't please everybody. :)

Well KAH, they aren't suing because it looks like Windows. They're sueing
because Microsoft "says" that consumers will confuse Windows and Lindows
products. It's a stretch, considering most people aren't that stupid, most
people buy systems that have Windows preinstalled on them, most people won't
ever hear of Lindows in the first place, and no people will see it on store
shelves. You can only buy it online.

Well, Agent, if you don't want it, that's fine. But you don't need to put
it down. The reason I'm getting this OS is that it promises full Windows
support in the next few versions. Right now they got the XP versions of MS
Office to work, and hopefully they'll have full DirectX support in there by
the 1.0 launch. I'm not paying for "insider" information, I'm paying for
something to run my 3D games and Windows programs on that doesn't cost $120
to upgrade every time a new version comes out. Linux? Probably half of
those buying Lindows could care less. It's not Microsoft, yet runs programs
made for Windows, and that's its big selling point. :)
Bit of clarification: The CEO himself said it would only be available
online (I think I remember that correctly, from his most recent letter). I
might be wrong though.

Right. I also thought that price also included the Operating System when it
does launch. I'm not paying for "insider information" either. ;) Not till
they actually start beta testing. With Microsoft after them, a beta might
be all they're going to get finished. :(

Deleting your Windows directory will erase any drivers she has. That's not
a good thing to do. Especially with Windows 95, since most likely it won't
install the drivers in the setup program, because it doesn't have them.

Ah, if it's Windows ME, then you can go and just run the Setup program from
your CD. It'll restore Windows and Internet Explorer to its original state.
Then you just have to download the critical updates and the new browser
again. ;)
Copy the files in the Win9x folder on your CD to C:\Windows\Options\Cabs.
Restart into Safe Mode and run the Setup program from the Cabs folder. If
there is an error with Setup in Safe Mode, use a boot disk and boot into DOS
and run Setup from there.
Trust me, this works. :)
