Re: Just In (was Re: bike.rwx avatar)

Oct 3, 2001, 6:58pm
I dare to jeopardize my own status in this newsgroup be even replying to
this. That was going to be my last post on this, and I tried to make that
evident. Who's dragging this up now?

As I said before, I'm on the fence, and I'm not ruling out the possibility
that Just In could be a wolf in sheep's clothing. You shouldn't blindly
base yourself on "Just In's side" simply because JFK2 and Chuck's Party were
on "the other side". I mean, really? How dumb a move is that? Use your
head and sort out the evidence (evidence is not proof) before discounting
everything because two overly eager jug-heads went on a smear campaign. I
don't mean that as an insult, I mean it as advice.

Do you even know who first leveled those allegations at Just In? It wasn't
JFK or Chucky, I'll tell you that. If you want to know, ask them to chime
in, because they're reading these newsgroups and they know who they are.

I really can't stress enough to you that absolutely 0% of my position on
this issue is based on JFK and Chucky's hearsay.

Aw is becoming more and more messed up every day...

Oct 4, 2001, 5:51pm
Is it just me, or have some of our long-time optimists become cynics? :( I
hate to see that happen.

Brant, well said. I think those who do support a particular topic should be
more vocal. It adds support to the cause.

AWDebate and Citizens Union were essentially the same idea wrapped up in
different wrapping paper. When and if that world opens, it's going to make
a great addition.

Ever since I've come here, I've seen nothing but improvement in the way
Active Worlds handles the development of its community. However, all of you
whining about how the community has gone downhill (and maybe I count myself
in this category), let's do something about it! AWC can't do everything.

Programming wise, like eep has said, things seem to have stagnated a bit
("seem" is a key word here). With the addition of a second programmer,
hopefully more things will get done so they can concentrate more on fixing
the existing bugs as well as continually developing the software to attract
more customers (Business 101).

mmm... Cozmo has a point. :) No point in announcing a server outage if it
was fixed by the time you announced it.

BTW, KAH, I was in your town last night, hoping to take a bot tour. I must
have missed it. Anyways, happy anniversary. :) Its a nice town, from
what I've seen of it.

It's more stable than any other general consumer Windows release. The
stability has gotten worse and worse. XP has turned that around though.

I heard on the Screensavers that the only difference between the Home and
Professional version was support for dual processors. But they can't really
test that to see if there are any other new features because they don't have
a working copy of XP. ;)

It's a pre-made world. Simple as that. I think the original idea behind it
was to make buying and setting up worlds more user-friendly so any average
person could own a world.

Well they do host the object path and the world. Did you factor that into
the equation?

Flagg, having a monthly payment "subscription" option on regular worlds
would be great. I think I'd get world then. :)

What my point was is that the 3D homepages have the the pricing for object
path and server hosting figured in. That's why they're priced higher. I
wasn't talking about a plain world.
