Eclipse Evolution (RC1-TR)

Apr 18, 2005, 2:37pm
Hello all,

I am taking the opportunity to expand upon the testing of my latest bot,
Eclipse Evolution. It has been tested for several weeks now in its RC1
state, and I am hoping to expand it into a final stage of testing before
release with as many users as possible.

Eclipse Evolution is, in my opinion, a very impressive bot that is capable
of giving you great levels of information about what is happening around
you, and in your worlds.

Some features include:

- Creative Mass-Info GUI

- Automatic IP and DNS resolution*

- Greetings and Announcements

- Report generation on users

- Full stored database of activity

- Automatic world IP notification*

- Version Limiting* or warning

- Anti Seekerbot Capability*

- Distinct Internal Rights System

- Botgram Protocol Compliant**

- A large command set

(* requires eject rights when used)

(** allows 'hail' and 'msg')

In this final stage of testing I would appreciate any bugs or comments to be
sent to me via markyr at gmail.com for me to make any appropriate changes.

To view documentation, and download the bot please visit:

----------------------------------------------------------

http://zetech.swehli.com/software/evo/index.php

To update your bot to build 91:

--------------------------------

Download build 87a (or similar), update to version 91 by overwriting any
files in build 87a with those contained in 91 (just a few EXE and DLL
updates for the latest SDK).

This tool uses C++.NET 7.1 and requires Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows
2003 / .NET server to run correctly. Please ensure your computer is fully up
to date from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com before downloading.

Usage License:

---------------

Please be aware that the free license for this software does not include
for-profit use and does not permit the usual paid-for bot hosting, use in
closed commercial universes or any other none-personal use. This is so I can
apply a small developers fee for these type of users to compensate me for
creating tools they would otherwise have to pay for to be made from scratch.

Notes:
-------
Please visit http://zetech.swehli.com/software/evo/help/release/buglist.php
for updates and documentation on any reported bugs that come in during this
time.

Also please note certain documented features are part of a build 92 alpha
(not displayed) and are not available on build 91 (for example, Remote
Command Lock)

Just to add, this is a stable build, it should not crash for any normal
reason and is suitable for use, however, any difficulties you experience
with anything would be most appreciated to be reported, so I can look over
them, see if I need to make any changes.

Actually I gave them presuming it was running on the Required OS (2K, XP or
2K3 SVR) w/ the browser running, hence why they are very high.

Sorry, rushed pages - over analysis perhaps :P but nice spot - I will change
it as soon as I get back. Thanks for the help.

That is strange - even if an applications window is hidden via API, windows
never actually loses its window pointers - they are stored beyond

Eclipse Evolution (Build 95 - RC2)

Jun 20, 2005, 10:25am
I am glad to release a new update to Eclipse Evolution, to build 95 (Release
Candidate 2)

I have made several major internal modifications to try and provide a more
stable system, as well as changing internal file organisation and database
formats.

Changes in Build 95:
- Mapping and Graphics
- Dialog enhancements, dedicated whisper boxes
- New world and avatar related commands
- XML based database technology
- Build 41 SDK

More information about changes can be found at:
http://zetech.swehli.com/software/evo/help/release/buglist.php

Unfortunately, due to a major database upgrade old databases will be
incompatible with the new bot unless you choose to manually transfer the
data. It is recommended that you unzip the program into a new folder.

Although this is an RC, any errors or questions should be directed towards
markyr at gmail.com?subject=evo

Eclipse Evolution (Build 95 - RC2)

Jun 22, 2005, 8:08am
Required update (from version 95) to version 95a available now at:
http://zetech.swehli.com/software/evo/download/index.php

This fixes the database fields flaw causing a messagebox to appear when
avatars enter / exit. Users should upgrade to 95a to ensure correct
operation of the bot.

To upgrade, visit the downloads site and place the new EXE in the previous
application folder, overwriting the origional EXE.

Sorry for missing this one.

This is due to a complete world, universe and protocol rewrite.

What do you look for in a situation report?

Oct 8, 2005, 9:15pm
Hi there,

Well, 4.1 continues to go well, and Evolution is coming along most nicely. I
am currently working on adding more report features for security and world
owners.

Foremost of these is the primary tactical report generator (TRG) which lists
everything you would most likely want to know about what is going on around
you.

Currently this includes several sections, most of which are currently right
based:

Rights of privilege
Rights granted to the privilege number that the bot is running on in the
current world

Standard rights of world
List of rights granted to everyone, regardless of privilege

List of individual rights
Shows a list of any nearby users whom have individual rights granted

Special powers list
Shows those with given public speaker, or eject rights.

Users under own:
Shows a list of users and bots under the bots privilege password

Average charted values:
Averages of avatar counts, chat link stress, and program resource usage

Merged IP values
Shows users whom have the same IP address

-------------------

However, with a 64 thousand line limit on the data output in a single
command, this leaves me pleanty of room to add more information...

So what would you like included in these reports, perhaps the list of ALL
avatars, potentially dangerous users, major world attributes?

If you can think of any reasonable ideas, the chances are I will be able to
add them to this particular report and that is always a good thing!

Look forward to hearing any ideas.

- Mark Randall

What do you look for in a situation report?

Oct 11, 2005, 5:23pm
This is possible in 4.1 with a bit of work; however...

It still doesnt address the point that the world owner can change it. The
problem is you can hash to your hearts content but the information is always
known, hence fakable.

> If Left(LCase(chatmessage), 8) = "/givegp " Then

Mistake #1, you always lcase the entire line into another
variable then use it for comparisons if you intend to
do a lot of lcase compares

> stuffee = Mid(chatmessage, 9)

What the hell is that variable name?

> Dude = Left(stuffee, InStr(stuffee, ",") - 1)

Again, variable name.

> a = PlayerID(Dude)

Let me guess, array instead of a managed collection.
again, A is a useless variable name.

> If a = -1 Then Exit Sub

Proper coders would express this as:
If (a = -1) then exit sub
To conform to inrceased clarity.

> numbadude = Mid(chatmessage, InStr(stuffee, ",") + 1)

Twice you used instr(stufee, ",") why is it not in its own variable

> Ply(a).wealth = Ply(a).wealth + Val(numbadude)

Integer + Double = BOOM, but let me guess; on error resume next?

> AwConsole "blue", False, False, Ply(a).session, "You were given " &
> numbadude & " gold by " & avatarname & "."

> End If

In my opinion its poor, all your string functions are returning variants
instead of string types, you are forcing the program to execute the same
thing more times than it needs to, theres no particular OO concepts I can
see...

I havent done VB for ages, but lets see..

dim chat_msg$, lcmsg$, sargs$()
dim avatar as AwAvatar

set avatar = avatars.GetBySession(gaw_int(AW_CHAT_SESSION));

' check that an avatar is found and not ghosted
if (ClassIsNull(avatar)) then
exit sub
end if

lcmsg$ = lcase$(chat_msg$)
sargs$() = split(lcmsg$, " ", 2)

' check for this case
if (ubound(sargs$()) < 2) then
exit sub
end if

if (sargs$(0) = "/givep") then
dim toks$()
toks$() = split(sargs$(1), ", ")

If (UBound(toks$()) < 2) then
call avatar.ConsoleMsg("You must say who you wish to give to and how
much", vbRed, CMF_ITALIC)
exit sub
Else
dim to_add as double
to_add = val(toks$(1))

if (to_add < 0) then
call avatar.ConsoleMsg("Cant give negative points", vbRed,
CMF_ITALIC)
exit sub
end if

...
and so on
End If

end if

Linux SDK report

Dec 2, 2005, 7:07pm
This was how I started when I was first making bots; but it turns out that
its more problems than its worth - consider in 5 users enter, all with
different privilege numbers, IP's etc - your bot will freeze for a good
second or 2 while each of them is resolved - also; while this is being done
you are building up more events in the queue. Its a bad circle.

What do you mean only command to get the citizen number? isnt
aw_int(AW_AVATAR_CITIZEN) in the context of EVENT_AVATAR_ADD sufficent
and/or working?

Eclipse Evolution [v2] Beta

Dec 7, 2005, 2:46am
Greetings,

Due to the success of early trials, I am looking to double the size of the
Evolution Bot beta team upto 15 people.

Requirements:
- Windows XP (w/ sp2)
- Stable connection
- Experience with bots

It would be a plus if you were used to any Command Line tools, as the
command set is both extensive and at some points 'complicated'.

I am especially looking for power-users (those with eject / ct rights in the
environment where they plan to use the bot) to test its extensive
power-features and tactical systems.

Sorry, at this time only users from within Active Worlds universe will be
able to join for Beta.

To enquire, please telegram me in AW so I can answer any questions you may
have.

Fancy Screenshot for effect:

I am aware that 15 is an odd number ;)

Eclipse Evolution [v2] Beta

Dec 14, 2005, 10:01pm
Hi2all.

I have now opened up the somewhat sparsely populated Evolution Beta forum
that a few of the team have been using, you will need to register on the
forum to use it. (note that the email send may not always work due to server
restrictions; the password you registered with will work regardless).

Please report all bugs and comments to this location.
