Return avatar to last known position? (Bots)
Return avatar to last known position? // BotscoreeJul 19, 2005, 9:59pm
Hello, everyone!
I know that it's possible to record an avatar's last known in-world position in a text file (I believe the tourist guard bot is one bot that records this data). That said, is either the Preston, Xela or Magsbot able to return an avatar to its last know position after it re-enters the world after being away for an extended period of time? If not, is someone out there capable of / willing to write a script that can accomplish this? Thanks in advance! Coree jim1Jul 21, 2005, 7:24pm
Sorry I don't know anything about those bots, but it just so happens I was
working on a similar problem recently. In case it helps, the last-know position could come from tracking the AW_EVENT_AVATAR_CHANGE event discussed at http://www.activeworlds.com/sdk/ and the avatar could be moved with the aw_teleport method discussed there. For aw_teleport, "The calling instance must be owned by a caretaker or have the EJECT right in order to use aw_teleport." Since I'm privilege-deficient, I instead had the bot create a teleport, delete it after I'd used it, then follow along for the next leap. It worked very well. Wish I could help more. Still needs putting in a bot tho :P
As it so happens, I will probably put it in the next version of Evo. -- - Mark Randall http://zetech.swehli.com [View Quote] |
