More than likely. But I can't complain to Micro$oft because that costs money (You'd think they'd have an 800 number...)

About half a month ago (I think, time is just a blur in my mind) I posted a rumor about AWLD going bankrupt within a month. This
stuff looks REALLY pathetic, and is potentially the first really definite sign that I was right-but the timing was wrong. I doubt AW
will survive to see another christmas-my citizenship sure won't.

$3 million doesn't mean very much, especially if they get left in the dust by competitors. They have more than enough cash to hire a
dozen programmers to modernize the program, buy some RELIABLE frickin servers and maybe do some quick TV spots on major networks
(cNet, where I originally saw them several years ago is NOT a major network). Might blow $2 million but that leaves them a nice
solid reserve, puts them on the modern level and gives the people that hang around long enough for AWCI to get a clue a new set of
better products and services.

Smart :) I haven't heard jack about quick-restore disks lately, thought everyone had the sense not to buy corperate made comps. Oh
well, no build coords but a word of advice-Back up teleports.txt, a simple floppy with it and a few other neccessary files
(savegames from games you've been working on for weeks, etc.)

The rules apparently aren't against commercial operations, just servers in general. I don't take kindly at all to at Home's rather
public intrusion into semi-private information though, and who knows how much information they could be gathering "Haha, look at
this lame little cyber zombie. Thinks he's found himself a girlfriend"
After experiencing at Home's anti-serverness first hand, when doing a closed IP access ONLY test run of an HTTP server to make sure I
had the software installed and configged right, I'm nearly positive that they're 100% against any server on their connection, I'm
sure if you were playing on a game server of your own for more than an hour they'd be on your case.

Really. Just for grins when I went to swap my K6-2 550 with a K6-2 300 a few days ago (300 runs MAD cooler than 550, by about FIFTY
degrees) I called up Best Buy to see how much they'd charge to do it and how long it'd take. They said it'd take TWO WEEKS and at
that point I just hung up and went and did the job in five minutes (would've taken less had I been using a case that didn't require
complete disassembly just to pull the motherboard tray)

Time to install this thing and prove it's claims wrong. I doubt it can take my Duron 1200 to anywhere near 2400 nor improve upon any
other aspects of my system. This appears to be a program for the computer equivalent of a Honda Civic and not a cross between a
Corvette, Hummer and M1A2 Abrams (For those who don't know American culture very well, Honda Civics are incredibly cheap Jap imports
that every high schooler owns and "souped up" with eye candy like 6 inch exhaust tips, turbocharger shells, racing seatbelt covers,
and some really UGLY looking rear wings/spoilers and front end body kits, while Covettes are the coolest, fastest American cars on
the market while Humvees are essentially military jeeps and well, the M1A2 is a fuckin tank)

Hare, version 1.1
http://www.dachshundsoftware.com/
___
Hare will accelerate your PC up to
200%. It will even accelerate a
Pentium 4. Hare uses the CPU
Tasking technology to achieve most
of its work: it will allocate over 90%
of the CPU to the frontmost
application, but its intelligent
multitasking motor will give just
the right CPU to some of the
background apps.
It will simulate a 3D card to avoid
jerkiness in 3D games. Hare will
greatly improve 2D graphic display,
but in the same time will also
accelerate it using a special graphic
system that is 100% compatible
with DirectX.
Since Hare's code takes over
Windows code, acceleration is
provided for anything, and not only
for copies or app launching (what
other acceleration programs
propose).
___
I'v tested Hare while using Alpha. I noticed a 'doubling' of my FPS rate while viewing some of my locations (which I'm familiar
with, obviously - you can either enjoy the faster FPS or bump up your 'view' or both). (I tested it while running my normal utils in
the background - SETI, Spinner, WebCAM etc (to name a few)... all requiring some of my CPU)
Check it yourself. Go somewhere in Alpha before installing it. Make note of your FPS. Instal/boot the Util. Go back to the same
place. No 'rocket science' involved... It'l either work for you or DEL it... You have 15 'boots' to make up your mind...
Ya, I'm sure anyone who's had a computer for more then 6 months has heard this all before. This util 'seems' to work tho'... (and
not only for Alpha but all in-focus programs/util). The 1st 15 boots are Trialware. Worth checking out... I'm buying it ($24)
(Util was mentioned in Lockergnome Newsletter)

The point is that it appears to only be functional on a rather small range of hardware, it doesn't even make any difference on my
K6-2 300, which in all honesty SUCKS. Now it could work wonders for Intel equipment, my ONLY Intel box is somewhat of a science
project and doesn't have a hard drive. And yes, I know Durons don't go to 1200 standard, I just force mine too, and it does so
right well. It's only a 71% overclock. Now onto the claims. First, the onboard benchmark shows a 170% speed increase for my
computer, which I set to be a Duron 900 with a GeForce II MX and 128mb of RAM to keep it within range of sensibility. This, in all
seriousness appears to be BS. On their front page, they claim that Word takes a long time to load on their ficticious computer.
Microsoft Word 2000 takes exactly 1 second to go from button press to the blank document. This remains EXACTLY the same. Tribes 2
with the latest patch. Without Hare, I get 70FPS maxed details in 1280x1024x32. With Hare, I get 65FPS, apparently because it's
meddling in the 3d card and CPU cycles. I found similar events on my AMD K6-2 300 with a TNT2 Vanta LT and 128mb RAM. If you can't
make that perform better, I don't hold out much hope for any PCs. You could probably make a FORTUNE selling that to eMachines
though, 'cuz those are NOWHERE near the performance machines you're likely to find among most of us here. As soon as I get the time,
probably this weekend I'll take actual benchmarks with 3rd party programs. Also, whats up with telling you to reboot every 16 hours
or so (1000 minutes)? EVERY computer is capable of operating for much longer than 16 hours if all it's technical issues are
resolved. Of course, this program appears to be designed specifically for systems with extreme technical issues anyway. I do NOT
take a biased approach to testing software, it either works or it does not. I either prove or disprove claims and I can smell a lie
when it's stuck right under my nose.

I'm honestly not worried about burning it out. They only cost pocket change to replace. And in a couple years I intend to have a

Amen the system damage on uninstall. This is apparently because it replaces parts of the Windows Kernel with it's own code and
doesn't put it back on uninstall. *thwack* Now I have a busted comp and a huge gap in my network to fix.
I have decided to cease all testing of this product on my equipment due to risk to inevitable damage to my work and/or machinery.
Apparently this is their way of forcing you to purchase it. Not a healthy buisiness practice.
