I wonder why worlds besides Alphaworld are so unused? No matter how nice or
big the world is, it'll never be as popular as object choked Alphaworld. What are your opinions? -- SW Comit swcomit at swcity.net Mayor of SW City http://www.swcity.net President of Community Linkage Commission http://comlinkage.tripod.com m a k a v e l iApr 8, 2001, 3:13am
I want to know why they have so many of them. Why do you need a AWGZ?
Pointless, and half of them aren't used like you said. chucks partyApr 8, 2001, 3:29am
That's because tourists can build there for free and be way far away from
people that may delete their builds. Also builds stay that are built in alpha unlike some worlds where the owner can delete your stuff or just up and disappear the next day, I won't mention any names of people or worlds, they know who they are, LOL [View Quote] gamerApr 8, 2001, 7:30am
I agree, its the little worlds that struggle so much under the awesom number
of people that are in Alphaworld everyday. I have seen now 3 massive p-100 worlds, go from busting with people to compeltely empty, its a shame becuase so much work is poured into them, and within months or even weeks, they become dead, wastes of a world on the server. Which brings me to another important point, DAMN AW! There is a limit of 750 worlds online at a time and nowadays there is constantly 750 worlds. When I try to start my worlds, they damned server refuses my connection. If AW dosent fix this in the next few weeks, I will consider seeking a refund. :o( -Gamer [View Quote] chucks partyApr 8, 2001, 12:47pm
Oh yes and 1 more problem, GREED on the part of AW keeps smaller worlds from
having the capacity to have more than a few people. I don't know why they insist on limiting worlds and have even cut back the number from what it was at one time the amount of people a world is allowed to hold based on it's size. I see nothing but GREED in that part of the deal to try and get you to purchase an even larger world that people may want to visit but not want to build in. The only advantage of having a larger world is to allow more people in at one time and to have more land to build, but what about private worlds like mine where I want alot of the people but not all the land, lol They don't give me any options. brantApr 8, 2001, 2:25pm
My understanding is that the 750 world limit is only for the worlds list (I
could be wrong, of course), because the AW browser can't display any more worlds without using excessive bandwidth. Chances are that the connection is being refused for some other reason. [View Quote] sw comitApr 8, 2001, 6:42pm
Sorry this was supose to be a new post but there was already a subject with
the same name. -- SW Comit swcomit at swcity.net Mayor of SW City http://www.swcity.net President of Community Linkage Commission http://comlinkage.tripod.com tony mApr 8, 2001, 7:09pm
Umm, the *worlds list* is maxed out at 750 (which is fixed now in beta
build 373) You must be having some other problem. -- - Tony M (a.k.a Tony56) [tony at vrunited.itgo.com] "Through Cyberspace, we are Virtually United" "Points to Ponder: If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?" ____________________________________________________________ [View Quote] just inApr 9, 2001, 1:13am
You can buy increased cit entry limits... US$50 = 5 extra cit entry limit
(although I think that is way too expensive) Also, if you are holding a special event in your world you can arrange for an increased limit for one day at no cost. [View Quote] jfk2Apr 9, 2001, 4:31am
With everyone complaining about how AW does their worlds thing.
Maybe this will help make them think that AW is not a place that is so bad after all. I have several accounts in other universes. In Vectorscape Universe = Pay your $19.95 for a one yr cit = One Free World that is 4 meters nswe big and 8 people capacity. You can keep adding people by 8, 16, 24, 32...etc. You can buy more land at the rate of 2 meters nswe up to a total of a AW p20 world. p20 = 20km nswe. If you think that going the Comercial account route is better & bigger world. NOPE Just add an added %20 to your world fee. But the only thing a commercial account will help you out in is total numbers of people on your world. Outerworlds Universe. You can buy your world much like AW. p10, p20, p50 etc... And the people limit is by 8, 16, 24, 32, etc... BUT even a small world is p10/8 and costs $20 setup fee PLUS $24.95 per month. AND they do all the hosting. You have no choice for who does the hosting. You MUST pick them or it won't be seen. Commercial you can get up to unlimited world sizes & unlimiited people on it. BUT you still have no coice as to who hosts it. They do. Dreamland Universe... Nice place & they have worlds to sell. They run their worlds like AW does. p10/8 cost $69 license & $12 per year fee. You have a choice who will host it. They can or YOU can. You can have your OP through them or find some server on the internet to hold all of your op. They have the personal worlds up to p150/64 BUT a Commercial account can have up to p1000/??? = 1,000,000 km nswe & unlimited amount of people on it. BUT before you jump off AW and head for the greener pastures of Dreamlamd Universe... Right now there are only about 20 worlds TOPS there & about 20 people max there. Because everyone wants to be where the action is :) Lag be damned, everyone
goes where the most people are, basic fact of online life. [View Quote] > I wonder why worlds besides Alphaworld are so unused?
