I am creating a new bot. I will not go into any details about it. But I
would like to know if anyone knows any good fantasy races. Races like Elves, Dwarfs, ect....So far I have Human,Orc,Elf,Goblin,Troll,Dwarf,Hobit,Ogre,Fairy,Brownie,Ent. Does anyone have any to add? I'm trying to get to at least 15 of them. Thank You. goober kingFeb 15, 2002, 3:28am
Actually, as far as I know, Orcs are smaller than Ogres. I don't have a
D&D book handy to verify this, but I do know they're different. However, I believe a Brownie is a subset of Fairy, could be wrong though. As for some other races: Giant, Eagle, Berserker, Unicorn, Dragon, Centaur, Demon, Vampire, Ghosts, and Ghouls should do nicely. Ichi-ichi-ichi-nesheboingummmm, Jedi, Yuuzhan Vong, Bothan, Rodian, Chiss, Omwati, and um, a glass of milk (to go with that brownie). ;) Chris May the Force be with you [View Quote] moff piettFeb 15, 2002, 8:15am
And don't forget Avatarian, a humanoid race with a -4 against overlap
attacks. kahFeb 15, 2002, 12:07pm
wrong... orc is something from The Lord Of The Rings I believe, and the
definition there is a group of elfs that were maltreathed and became orcs. an ogre is a huge monster, often the size of a mountain (according to Norwegian folk tales at least) KAH [View Quote] foxmccloudFeb 15, 2002, 3:11pm
Orc is actually the same as Goblin (Orc being the name given by Hobbits to Goblins, according to Tolkien :) )

You know, I started a Bot called NoxBot 3 months ago. At present it takes
character admin, users can select their race, path, religion, klan, etc.. and can also maintain public bios....I am planning to release it this summer....but if you need any help with the programming of your bot and your doing it in Visual Basic.....gram me :o) -Robbie [View Quote] perseusFeb 15, 2002, 8:16pm
oh woops sorry.. let me correct my self there.. goblin not ogre, and orc is
the same as a goblin.. reading while typing .. :o\ [View Quote] perseusFeb 15, 2002, 8:23pm
all of this talk of magical/mythical races and not one person has mentioned
a witch or a warlock.. [View Quote] billybobFeb 15, 2002, 8:40pm
Well, from what I can tell an orc, ogre and goblin are ALL different, no
matter how small the difference may be. A brownie is the smallest Human-Like race...they aren't really fairies. Tx goober king for those ideas...I'll add a couple of them. [View Quote] billybobFeb 15, 2002, 8:41pm
wow......well...I'll look into those, haven't hard of half of them, heh.

i wont have wizards, that will be one of the rules of my game...once again I
wont go into details of why. Imps....are....well.......small and stupid :) In Final Fantasy 1 they are just there to help you get your first experiance points. billybobFeb 15, 2002, 8:46pm
No, the bot wont be in VB. It is meant to handle LARGE amounts of data in a
LARGE world. The entire bot is in c++. Because other sections of the game are going to be more extensive the complexities of stats have been removed. Only the stats that are plainly required have been added. But thanks for offering to help. billybobFeb 15, 2002, 8:48pm
As I posted to another reply I wont include magic or things that pertain to
magic. I wont go into the reasons why. Yea....i kinda have my lips shut about this, but I want the project to be secret. foxmccloudFeb 15, 2002, 8:49pm
Imps are brown humanoid creatures that throw fireballs at you ! but one close range shotgun shot is enough to take them down... :P

Thank You all. I will look into the races I don't know and see if I like
them, and add the ones I forgot to add. billybobFeb 15, 2002, 8:53pm
In "Lord of The Rings" a halfling is another name for a hobit. I would think
a dark elf would be Orc(according to LOTR). kitFeb 15, 2002, 9:36pm
Hello,
While a Halfling is a Hobbit, a Dark Elf has no mention in LOTR. A Dark Elf is the creation of another author- Feist. Kit [View Quote] > In "Lord of The Rings" a halfling is another name for a hobit. I would think > a dark elf would be Orc(according to LOTR). young phalphaFeb 16, 2002, 5:14am
I'm pressuring DM Mercury to convert DM Aide (in AD&DRPG) to convert to C++ as well... Hopefully
after she finishes the version shes working on she'll make the next version C++ :) [View Quote] billybobFeb 18, 2002, 11:35pm
not really. Orcs are elfs that were abused and mangled, and everything else
bad...so they are kinda a "Dark" Elf billybobFeb 18, 2002, 11:37pm
yea....not that powerful....they are kinda like teh "bugs" of the fantasy
world. billybobFeb 18, 2002, 11:39pm
Yea, i've done VB->C++ conversions...did it with my WAR bot......quite a bit
of work, but the best thing is that you can do it offline, cause you know that the code works(unless you have a typo). |
