www.imabot.com and click Preston I think. They're good bots for newbies, and
can be ruled out by Xelagots and HamBots, but they're definatelly a good
place to start (take it from me)

Although theoretically you could keep a database of avatar positions and see
if the person you're acting on is within that radius (Unless you're using a
aw_say function) but you can't actually have it act on a specific radius.
Only standard and Public Speaker radiuses.

Yes. And I'll make them. Are they any of your business? Not really. You
wanna spout me some ideas, go ahead. By the way, is it just me, or is it
always newbies who are claiming that bots don't do enough, bots are getting
boring, and so on (e.g. Trekker, TheDerek)? Learn to make some bots, then
you'll see. We have the new things. What we don't have is the users. Don't
complain 'til you've tried programming 'em, either.

I actually don't think that they learn. True AI (artificial intelligence) or
A-Life (artificial life) is not possible. They have been tried, and you can
do believable things with it, but it isn't real. Any experienced programmers
want to try working with me on a (not true) A-Life bot?

Microsoft is more powerful and simple once you get into complicated things,
Borland is simpler for starting right off. I'd recommend Microsoft - I used
it all except for when I tried to learn C++ at age 9 (I actually got fairly
far - 3 years later I aced it) but whatever you prefer.....

Microsoft at its highest level is better than Borland at its highest level.
I'm not sure about standard. I'd recommend Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, its
easier to do Windows in.

However, I forgot to include... This is entirely opinion. I've tried both
and like Microsoft better and would recommend it, although I believe Borland
came first and therefore would be more developed. Although they are the
major compilers, however, neither of them were the first. Pretty much any
compiler you can find is just fine for doing bots, though.

You'd actually be surprised.... At least I was, when I pulled off teaching a
10-year-old C in 2 days at about an hour a day. Of course, I doubt this will
happen again, but I think I'll be able to teach someone old enough to be in
AW (Probably not including the scarce population of under-11s)
As for a compiler, DJGPP works, but it is kind of confusing to download. It
is the free one, though. If you go to a Best Buy, they usually carry a book
about learning to program in C which comes with a CD that has DJGPP on it.
If you have a bit more money, Borland or Microsoft compilers are the
preferred choice of most people, but I don't want to get into a fight again
about which one is better. I'll leave you with this: I've tried both and I
use Microsoft.

Not really...You see, I never said yours wasn't free, just that yours wasn't
custom, in that you didn't make it to the customer's specs, yours was one

No, no, no, you idiots. Scroll lock is if its on, it goes down and up
(Moves) and acts as up and down keys, but if it's off, it acts as numbers.
Only works on numeric keypad... Usually only works in games, especially ones
that are hot-seat (multiplayer, but everyone's on the same computer) or
joystick.

I say forget that, bot spans (one sector) are far smaller than what you'll
get in 30, 45 seconds of insert. Look, me, as a TAPT person (Tourist
supporting organization,) wouldn't usually say this, but yeah, I agree. But,
then, tourists should be able to log in under PPWs if you will do that so
that friends can lend them one if they're going to do serious buildings.
Either that or they need to use a BuildBot and copy all there tourist
builds, and rebuild them under a citizen's name. Tricky, eh?

How so? I make a plug-in, I use it on my AW browser. If anyone wants my
plug-in, I could sell it, or give it away, but I don't see it getting out of
hand. Why wouldn't citizens be able to make their own, anyways? I remember
the day when making bots was unheard of, only for AWCom, and maybe Ima
Genius. That wasn't because we couldn't, just because it wasn't very
developed. I don't see any problems with plug-ins, except for that I don't
see much of what they could do.
