One bad point to this is that adults that don't really care for this kind of
material could pretend as a child and get a special low rate, without AW even realizing that this is an adult... AC [View Quote] Cy Reception MusicApr 28, 2000, 2:29am
As you all know, the Cy's are coming up quickly. April 29th in fact...
Anyway, I wanted to let everyone to know who was going to the reception that I will be taking midi requests. Now, I want to let you know that I might not get to play all of the midi's that are requested, but I will try. I will also make dedications. So, at the next reception gram, or whisper me your midi URL and I will try to play it. And, send me some midis at alphaaw at yahoo.com , and I will add them to the play list. Hope to see you all there, THX! AlphaCentuari And the winners are.......May 7, 2000, 9:49am

Fake CysMay 15, 2000, 11:16am
Today, i was eject from the world Axoidz for stating my opinion on the fake
cys they have in thier world. I know some people dont even care about the cys (this message isnt for thoes people.) Anyways, the cys are something special (or should be) to everybody. Making fake Cys, and using the statues as signs. I have never liked this and i probably never will. And, i hope, someday, that the cy statues, and The Cy Awards themselves will be considered 'special' by all, and not blow it off by ejecting somone for stating thier honest opinion about them. warrmp3, as Nornny had said in the "Be loyal to Activeworlds, Don't listen
to Eep!" string, it is always good to have an Eep or two around, to keep us on our toes. Eep i know may sound childish at times, and mabey even the tinyest bit irritating, but thats Eep. AlphaCentuari [View Quote] Fake Cy's Must Be Stopped!May 25, 2000, 12:09am
Hmmm, mabey thats a weeee little bit harsh, mabey just having them remove
the fake ones? [View Quote] Protecting ChildrenJun 18, 2000, 8:31pm

I really don't see how this contributes anything constructive to the thread,
not that this thread is very constructive anyway. I mean, just listen to yourselfs guys, you sound like 10 year olds trying to come back at each other with the first things that you can think of off the top of your head. If no-one else has anything to say that is worth the time it takes for other people to read, then just end this thread right here, or at least take it to e-mails or grams. The newsgroups are here for people to ask questions, get answers, and to keep other people updated on whats going on, not to see who has the best insults and comebacks. Grow up guys. I have returned! -AC It's been an honor and a priviledge..Mar 15, 2005, 2:57am
And so ends what I would call the highlight of the ActiveWorlds Community.
It is sad to see such traditions ending, but all good things must come to an end. For a few years, since I left, I have been watching the community decline from what it was in March of '98. ActiveWorlds, and the Cy Awards, are part of my childhood now, and will always be. For 3 years, I was honored to help out the AW Community and Bit in it's production, sometimes though I think, for the wrong reasons. There are too few people in this world today like Bit, selflessly working towards the improvement of society through generosity. Most of the time, people do things to the benefit of themselves, and if it happens to benefit someone else, then thats just an added bonus. Through the time I spent with Bit, and the awards, my life has been changed. The "Spirit of the Cy" is with me now and always, and with anyone else as well whose lives she has touched. Even if she dosen't "own" the awards, the spirit is hers, and I hope she continues to spread this spirit in her future ventures, under whatever name. As for traditions, old ones dissappear, but new ones can be forged. Change is inevitable. Perhaps someone will step forward and set a new banner and light the stage lights anew. The community may thrive once again, or may fall into complete disarray, that it up to you. However, few could ever match what AlphaBit created. She is "The Spirit of the Cy" and that spirit is hers, and if this spirit has touched just one person at all, changed one life, such as mine, then all the time and effort in the world is worth it. May the Cys live on in our hearts. Good luck to the people of AW, and all of their future ventures! AlphaCentuari (LilAlpha Phalpha) CY UpdateAug 11, 2005, 10:38am
Here's a suggestion.....Instead of bickering over how much orgizational
experience a GK TL has... Start something NEW. Build it from the ground up, a fresh start. Change can be for the better ya know. There wasn't always going to be a Cy Awards, just like one day...eventually... servers will be erased and taken away, and none of this will be here. But in the mean time, if you want an awards program, than make your own...(YOU being all of you as the whole community.) Give it a name, something people can associate with maybe... The Avatar Award, The Bit :) (In fact, I'll start another thread just for that). Then, find somone with enough time and dedication to make it work: Somone is going to have to step up (It's not a job for lazy people who got it handed to them.) Build a team: people who are also willing to contribute (and NO, you won't get anything back for it except the gratification of a job well done once those curtains roll up,) and have the skills and know-how to make it work. Come up with a plan how are we going to pick the winners? Then advertise, advertise, advertise: Let the WHOLE community know about it and when it is, and what it is about (Newsgroups, In-World billboards, telegrams, welcome messages, newsletters, etc.) This is how you start any community organization (minus the curtains and the winners.) Bit did that with the Cys, now you must step up and make your own legacy. -AlphaCentuari -LilAlpha Phalpha P.S. And who says there only has to be one awards program? (hmm.. Oscars, Grammys, MTV Music Awards, CMA Awards, Nobel Prize, there are several awards for books..... you name it.) Possible Names....Aug 11, 2005, 10:51am
Ok, if you want an awards program so bad...here ya go. Post what you think
you would like the name to be, and maybe somone will step up with one of these names and start something. But there are rules: 1. You can't use Cy Awards, thats already taken :P 2. This thread is about what you think the name should be, not how stupid his/her name sounds: let's not flame. 3. This isn't about the day you went surfing in the gulf: keep to the topic please :) 4. You can submit as many suggestions as you want as they are all open for the community to see, and use if they want. Please at lease have the decency to follow these guidelines.... Ok as I stated in a previous thread here are my two suggestions: a) The Avatar Awards - (eh, maybe not so much) b) The Bit (I believe Bit's favorite avatar was Becca, now I wonder how that would look as a statue...hmmmm) Okay....post away :) -AlphaCentuari -LilAlpha Phalpha |
