Fake Cys (Community)
Fake Cys // CommunityalphacentuariMay 15, 2000, 11:16am
Today, i was eject from the world Axoidz for stating my opinion on the fake
cys they have in thier world. I know some people dont even care about the cys (this message isnt for thoes people.) Anyways, the cys are something special (or should be) to everybody. Making fake Cys, and using the statues as signs. I have never liked this and i probably never will. And, i hope, someday, that the cy statues, and The Cy Awards themselves will be considered 'special' by all, and not blow it off by ejecting somone for stating thier honest opinion about them. If the Cy objects are copywritten then no-one can use them without the
expressed permission of the creator or the persons authorised by the creator to give their permission. This would also cover copies or objects made with the intention of being like the Cy objects. I'm sure Axoidz will be brought into line in very short order and the integrity of the Cy Awards be maintained. :o) If nothing happens within a week contact AlphaBit Phalpha (Cy Awards committee) and LadyJude (WAG) and I'm sure they will handle it. If someone is going to steal an object to use, copywrite will not matter.
Once I gave permission to a very well known member of aw to take 3 of my textures. When I went into his world, he had taken over 150 textures and objects. Many of those were given to me for my world's use and not for resale or to be given to anyone else. When I complained to this person about this, he was very angry about being reproached and stated that the the textures he took could not be copywrited and he had as much right to them as anyone else and the objects he took belonged to the world Yellowstone and I couldn't prevent him from taking them. His partner in that world is now a member of AW.com. [View Quote] chris waddellMay 17, 2000, 10:01am
yes, we are entering into the realm of law and the internet.
Nothing is copy written because we write it, or say so. Nothing is copy written if you mail it to yourself in the mail and not open it. I am by no means advocating this. Right now it is common courtesy. If you say don't take this or more than this, well then we deal with ignorant people, who do steal or take items. Some people learn html code by "stealing source code" from amateur to professional internet sites. Are they stealing? its a tough call, even my world Y2oOo, that we have made custom textures for, and a group of other worlds, have been robbed of our "exclusive" custom textures. This person gives no credit to as where these textures came from. They are on a AW site: http://angelwalk.freeservers.com/awtextures/texindex.html As for Fake Cys... well the committee and the recipients know who won them. If someone thinks they are kool modeling their fake Cy in their world. Sure go ahead. The Ppl who know they didn't win it can laugh and scoff at them for being ignoramus'. We will just have to buck up and realize, that nothing is sacred and on the net, its a free for all. Sorry [View Quote] ormondt@cvwrf.state.ut.us (the wanderer)May 17, 2000, 6:11pm
