Hi Cory:)
Hate to see such a fun thing not happen:(
Have you asked them what all would be infringing on copywrites so that
you could do a variation that is legal?:)
Or perhaps offered free clickable link to a page where folks could
purchase the original at thier site?:)
Seems there should be something somehow that would allow you to have
something similar to thier great game?:)
Good luck:)

Hmm.... I thought you said the they allowed yuo to make it. Anyway, has
Monopoly been bought by Hasbro as well? I thought it was still owned by
Parker Brothers.... I could be wrong :)

wow, I am sorry to hear this.
it must have been a popular world for Hasbro to have heard about it, and
writ a cease and desist.
I have wondered when or if major corps would stumble upon our virtual
worlds and scour us for infringements.
I have noticed some worlds have avatars that are characters that could
be considered copyright infringement. As well as large pictures and
whatnot. I think we have to remember, no matter how small or big we are,
Major Corps are waking up to the Net and cracking...Nay Smashing down on
some not only Pirates, but innocent people. Who are just trying to
broaden the Horizons of the Net.

Again, sorry to hear this.

Why don't you try getting permission from Hasbro to start the monopoly game
again?

It seems that they ACTUALLY did get shut down by Hasbro on this one.

>From Xav's forum:
-------------
I noticed reading the forum that several of you doubted that Coryashire had been contacted by Hasbro. The following is the email
that was sent to them by myself in reguards to his AWMonopoly.

To: Customer_support at hasbro.com
Subject: Monopoly Copyright Infringment that may be of interest to you
Date: March 18, 2000

I recently came across this website that I think perhaps would interest you a great deal. This person is stealing the idea for your
monopoly game and I'm sure that is a copyright infringment to Hasbro. The URL is: http://www.geocities.com/coryashire/monopoly.html

It looks as though this person has duplicated your board as well as your game pieces and also has stolen the Hasbro Monopoly Logo.
The program that he intends to implement his Monopoly game on is a 3d interactive program called ActiveWorlds which can be found at:
http://www.activeworlds.com

I found his URL through a newgroup posting on the newsgroup news.activeworlds.com under the group called community and the heading
of the news posting is awmonopoly is coming

If you are the wrong place to email sorry for the bother but perhaps you could forward this to the proper division of Hasbro.
