I think I've already mentioned all of these, but it can't hurt to put
them out again.

A Deny Entry list in the World options, in addition to (or instead of?)
the Allow Entry list.

Or, the ability to place a path name in the Allow Entry box which points
to a file. This would allow World owners to make their Allow list as
long as they wanted, with minimal impact on the server.

Two Object Paths for Worlds.....a primary, and a secondary. If the
browser can't find the object in the primary location, fall back to the
secondary location.

Support of RWXMod...and any enhancements at all.

It would be great if we could point the cursor at a vertex, and have
RWXMod tell us the co-ords of that vertex.

This is real pie-in-the-sky....but it would be nice if moving the
viewpoint/camera would cause the avatar to move its head accordingly.

May 1, 1998, 7:22pm
The ability to re-download a single object on command.

As an example.....a "Reload" button in the Build window. Right click an
object, hit the "reload" button, and it forces the browser to
re-download both object and texture.

I think it's already been mentioned here, but I'll add my 2/c worth....

The ability to pick up and carry one or more objects.

Perhaps this could be done if there were a new class of
objects...."temp" objects.
No owner (not even "0" for tourist). Can be created/picked
up/moved/deleted by anyone, tourists included. Can be created anywhere,
even over some else's "claimed" land (remember, anyone can delete them,
so trash and vandalism shouldn't be a problem). Can be picked up and
carried by avatars. Could be warped from one location to
another.....could be used for games?

Dataman made RWXMod and, as far as I know, it's a dead project. Modeler is where you should be focusing on: http://www.rwmodeler.com.

Ha... the 'warping of objects' is an old one... I believe the problem
(assuming one thinks of it as such) would be 'turf wars' were 20 or 30
Citizens stand around all day and lob 'toilets.rwx's onto Beep's Property...
Hmmm... now that I think of it... never mind... Great idea... :-)

Yes, even though it is probably hard to implement, I have always wanted
this to be added as well. It would add more to the social chatting side
of Active Worlds.

I've found that you can usually accomplish a re-load by clicking on
a world in the world list that has a red dot next to it. You get a
message stating "You can't enter, blah, blah..." and then you
end up right back where you started. The re-entry process
usually causes the objects to be re-loaded. (This may
depend on the world's "object-refresh" time though.)

Now what're you babbling about, Leo the Lame? Try and be coherent in your lamity, eh? When've you seen a new version of RWXMod? Modeler is actually being developed and will be released soon. Have you downloaded the beta from my website yet? Have you read the preliminary release notes? Have you visited Modeler's website? Ah, didn't think so. Try again, lamer.

[View Quote] There are lots of ways to get all of the objects to download, such as
clearing your
cache. I'm asking for something that will allow you to download only
one object at
a time, and you chose which object. Much faster. For modelers, for
those times
your cache gets corrupted and you can't seem to get it straight by
deleting the
whole thing, when a texture or mask goes bad, etc.

told you way back......yes i WAS using SendKeys for most of Robo, but
can you tell me how i'm doing it now? heheheh thought not....:)
Even if i did explain it to you, you wouldn't understand it..:) Oh,
and what REAL program have you made lately, Mr. i know how it all works.

heheh this is fun...:)

Ignorance is relative, superchamp. What, you finally learned how to tap into TCP/IP or something? Welcome to the land of real programming. I'm actually playing around with Visual DialogScript. It's pretty good for a scripting language (that can compile to EXEs and use external DLLs--specifically made for it, unfortunately), but it's a start. It has a way of sending keystrokes to other windows, and I was thinking of making a better Robo <smirk> but I think I'll wait until I get into TCP/IP, or whatever, before I do that. No sense doing it half-assed, eh? You'd know. :) So where is the oh-so-yippity-do-dah new Robo of yours, eh? Still hiding it from the masses for fear of public lynching from idiots claiming too much land? <chuckle> Back to the cubicle, Mucky...

heheheh or something yea that's it or something....:)
Robo is looking real good....made a real kewl addon...it will make sure
that it cannot work with any objects that have a build number of
198174...:) blows right up....imagine that..:)

oh and hurry up and brush up on your TCP/IP or whatever...:) hehhe

Using MSGBLASTER you can send, read or redirect messages sent to the AW
Browser. Some of these messages relate to Mouse x,y coordinates, Keystrokes
and other interesting stuff. Once you understand how the Windows Messaging
System works, it is relative easy to control any program running in the
environment with another program.

Hey Slydog;

If you've done this, then you would understand the frustration,
Why does using Windows Messaging NOT work when sending an UP or
DOWN arrow command to the AWB? for object movement? It reacts
differently than the same message sent from the keyboard itself.
Let me know how this works for you...:) everytime i send the message
for an UpP arrow....the object moves up, but when it's done, your avatar
also will move up....:) try it....let me know what you find..:)

I've been playing with SpyWorks from Desaware..:)

It is a bug in AW that causes the avatar to move up (down, too, probably) after moving an object up (and down, probably) and deselecting an object. To work around this, just immediately send a numberpad 5 key to stop the avatar movement, and maybe one send of up or down, depending on if the numberpad 5 doesn't make it in time and/or if the avatar still moves.

Since i am the one that pointed this bug out to you, i do know all about
it and how to work around it( not many workarounds). The 5 key does not
stop it....actually a bug in the handling of this key also.....and the
"Reverse Direction" method does not work either....if i move the object
100 clicks up i have to give the Avatar 100 clicks down to compensate
for it....and these NEVER match up....never a 1 to 1 relationship...:(
Believe me it gets deep....:) If the keyboard handler was just fixed
in the first place, lot's would be nice..:) I've been plugging
away at this little quirp for over a year now..:( Just been waiting,
and hoping Roland can make the little "tweek" to fix it.....:) I'm
only speculating that it is something that NEEDS to be fixed, only
because of the strange way Windows Messaging handles the problem also.
Anyone else that has actually written code to solve this, i would
appreciate hearing from them...:)

or would it be easier to "capture" a TCP packet, get the right location info from that, and work the rest of the objects mathematically from that original object, sending fresh packets right to the server straight from Robo? wouldn't even lag up aw while it's running <g>

Just a "guess" but have you checked to see if it behaves differently
depending on which control (or dialog) has the focus at the time?

Great Idea... =0)

frisbee.rwx, football.rwx, basketball.rwx...................Made so that
you could "catch" the object with a right click, and send it off in another
direction (throw the object) with simple commands in the action box; which
way, how hard, etc....
