Regarding Wine Parties/Grape Stomp Parties in AW // CommunityrossyboyFeb 8, 2004, 8:11pm
The Lady, while you have the best of intentions I have to say this is
very unrealistic of you. The Bible is often interpreted as "Christianity good, everything else bad" and many people hold and represent this view. However, people aren't exactly going to turn round and start praising God on AW. God/alcohol does not equate to good/bad in the real world. In simple words, it's pointless trying to use a Bible verse like this one on non-Christians. They do not see God as the automatic good. If in your view people who aren't praising the Lord are evil then please never talk to me again. [View Quote] > "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Yeah too bad I'm not christian, isn't it? Blows apart your whole reply
sweets. (Didn't want to go looking for the post in this mess... don't have my newsreader in thread mode) sweetsFeb 8, 2004, 11:18pm
you do have some right and some wrong, Rossy. I was not dissing christianity
(if you thought that I am very sorry), I was dissing a belief against us that is wrong. Your God is all around you, they say, in the rocks and trees LOL we just gave them names....but they are all part of the God and Goddess (male and female...doesn't this make any sense?). They are not false gods. They ARE the God (of both sexes). Now as for the Devil. Yes your writings say about Lucifer. That is why I call it a Christian myth. The so called God of the pagans has been around long before any Lucifer. Long before the writing of that book. I would think more that some man took the pagan god and wrote a story about the Devil (dancing and singing and all round partying at that time being considered evil). We all have our beliefs, who is right and who is wrong? But I do insist on saying my mind when peaceful wiccans are called devil worshippers, knowing what Devil means in most people's minds. So my post was more against Bowen and not meant as any form of slander against Christians. 500,000 pagans were executed in europe alone during the witch hunts. I do not ever want to see that start again due to ignorance. PEACE! sweets carolannFeb 9, 2004, 1:15am
Agreed...(I think I've been filtered by Sweets, but for the sake of any who
are following this thread)...where I was raised and educated as a Christian, we were required to study other beliefs and worship with those others when we were able to reasonably travel to do that, so we could see things from their point of view (and share ours). Teachers (in the church) are required to create an understanding about all beliefs, as well as agnosticism and atheism. As a matter of fact, for example, this week begins a 6 week seminar in my church called "Our Jewish Neighbors". We work together when possible for common goals (not religious goals usually, but humanitarian ones). Then, instead of the scoffing as some people here have learned or been conditioned to do out of lack of knowledge, you get a kid who grows up saying "I can understand that." I do agree with Brock though when he said "Keep religious discussions out of AW." (except where individuals want to talk about it or a world is developed where you choose to go or not) and I think the Lady is way out of line bringing Bible verses to such a diverse group. Just my tithe to the discussion. [View Quote] ubermonkeyFeb 9, 2004, 3:54am

Yes I understand sweets, and it wasn't just to you it was to everyone.
These thoughts have been swirling around in my head for a while. Christianity only calls Wicca devil worship because it has to explain supernatural things that aren't down to God to be down to the devil. People interpret this as Wiccans automatically having to be evil, which is of course, wrong. It's just a different belief system, and I would guess (correct me if I'm wrong though) that Wiccans would have some way of explaining the origin of Christian beliefs. The history of it all and what religion is the right one is not what I was discussing. Yes it was ignorance of the Bible's true message that led to witch hunts. I do not even have to say it was ignorance of the Wiccan religion - it was ignorance of the Bible's true message, which is worse. The thing is, Christianity does call peaceful Wiccans devil worshippers, because it cannot logically call them anything else. They are worshipping a supernatural force that is not the Christian God... so in the Christian belief they can only be worshipping Lucifer. But as I said, that doesn't make Wiccans evil, but misguided by evil forces. So don't think of Christians who persecute Wiccans as ignoarant of Wicca. Think of them as ignorant of Christianity. Because the most they're supposed to do is spread the Christian message. [View Quote] |
