I would like to see AW develop some good banner ads. Our Murasaki 3D
website averages 3000 hits per month or more and many of those hits are from
outside the Active Worlds community. I would gladly place banners on our
site to boost this community. I'm sure many other world owners, modelers,
and AW enthusiasts with websites would do the same.

Nice idea but looking at it in the light of day and Im sure you might agree
the trick is to get non aw related sites to display the "banner" after all
if an impression is from a exsisting member its not making much of a
diffrence.

From a banner exchange system I allready operate and from the stats, it is
very clear that banners that are not for subjects related to the web site
content are rarely clicked on and those which are related recieve the
greater impressions.

For instance game sites and chat sites are a ideal product for advertising
activeworlds as they are related to the subject.

The trick is to produce/have web sites that like your have interest outside
activeworlds therfore attract a possible membership inroad into activeworlds
web site so they can see the product been offered.

Plus from experence some would like many other banner/click through systems
wish to recieve some reward if a impression converts to a successfull
sale/membership if the web site is not activeworlds related.

I wonder if a group of people organized this idea, then gathered any
possible sponsoring contacts, then were able to approach the sponsors with
an offer for their product to be displayed on possibly 100 web sites, what
the outcome would be?

I have always thought that banner ads, for people to post on their sites,
were something fairly fundamental that AW has always been lacking.

Sounds like a great idea to me!

:o) I don't know about ALL other people, but I've always put a graphic
link to www.activeworlds.com on any web page I've done... Of course the web
pages I do now days are AW related ones but who knows, maybe others from
outside of AW do stumble across them and out of curiosity, click on the AW
link.... :o) I know the web page with the Halloween Tales got seen by
more people than just AW people... I don't know if activeworlds got any
visits out of it though.. :o)

(Should I gather up all the .jpgs or .gifs I've used as AW links and post
them???) :o)

i think the web site Renderosity http://www.renderosity.com/index.ez would
be a good market to target they offer 10000 banner impressions for 100$ dont
know if thats a good price or not but might be the type of market AW want to
focus on

I dont know why http://www.activeworlds.com/images/header1.jpg couldnt be
used as a banner, at least until a good GIF one comes out...

Yes! I think all AW needs is just some advertising and maybe more people
would join as cits. I've NEVER seen an ad for AW on a site, but I bet that
if some more people (people other than those who hear about it through
word-of-mouth) found out about it, we'd get a couple more cits, and more
cits means more moolah for AWI, which means (hopefully) things get better.
