Ummmm Strike.
If you want to email JP and ask if I own them that is fine. JP gave them to me. I chose to continue with them spending hours along with other folks to make them happen. What I am hearing is that the Cys are becoming a battlefield of ownership. This unfortunately can have no happy ending. You just aren't thinking of the possibilities here. If JP deems anyone ownership that is fine with me, but I will have to hear from JP personally that he choses to do so. Until then the Cys are considered a historical event that exists as memories now. I sincerely wish you all the luck in the world at beginning a new event. Sincerely, AlphaBit Phalpha [View Quote] The Cys Can No Longer ExistMar 12, 2005, 2:20pm
Matt....I owned them from day one and continue to do so.
Until they are put to rest, they exist as mine. If it's a greedy act that I saw that they continued for 7 years then saw their demise then that's your opinion. Sorry I have dissappointed you and others. Bit [View Quote] CY UpdateAug 10, 2005, 12:31pm
Hi Everyone:)
I was sitting back and watching the posts for a while before I was going to post. But some things are being stated that are a misunderstanding. I might have caused the misunderstandings, and I appologize if I did. Let me help clear the misunderstandings:) The reason I couldn't organize the Cys anymore was and is my schooling. Since Alpha's death, I have been totally unfocused and getting a job that was something I enjoyed (while being decent paying), just wasn't happening. I have started the process for a degree to teach MS Apps and Graphic Apps as an online instructor. I just finished my first term, and have quite a ways to go. I knew I could not continue the Cys and learn full time. Yes there were negative comments that took some of my time, but those comments were constructive also, so I have to sum them up as constructive criticism instead. Thank you for the comment about my hard work Facter:) It was the hard work of many also:) Jerme, thank you also for the support, but the bickering caused those bickering more trouble than me:) The reason I attempted to shut the Cys down completely was and is proven with what has happened in the given time since I attempted it. One of the reasons I wanted them to become history, (and you will see it in past posts from me), was that my name is attached to the Cys. It always has been and always will be. I am still getting emails and phone calls from folks that are or were concerned for the way they were and are being organized. I use my time spent on the Cys as references. The seven years that I handled them is a great reference. But if a potential employer was to see that they actually were a negative unproductive mess, that would be a silly thing to list eh?:) Anyways, there is a great opportunity for someone out there to start an entire new awards ceremony, but as long as the Cys exist, no one will attempt it. King Tex and I are in the process of painting and cleaning and selling our house to move to Arizona. If the Cys can rest until we get settled I can probably take them on again, if ya'll want me to:) I am finding idle time between assignments...yayyyyy! Otherwise maybe a community vote for a representative should be done? Good luck on whatever ya'll decide, but please let the Cys go into AW History, if they can't continue in the vision we all had for them since their beginning. Thank you, Bit:) Possible Names....Aug 11, 2005, 3:01pm
Help Please-I am looking for a free server to host my worldOct 23, 2005, 8:06pm
Dear Community,
I have tried to host my world on my laptop to no avail because of the router and SBC's new policies. Is anyone out there offering free world hosting? I can use one of activeworld's paths no problem. I just need my world up and running. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. This is coolNov 5, 2005, 1:55am
Test...ok I'm fixed...lol
Thanks SWE for posting that. It looks like they are free scripts also...cool...thanks Ciena for the link! [View Quote] This is coolNov 5, 2005, 12:10pm
Now that is way cool!
I think you need some music now. It seems that most of those scripts that have music attached are the most fun. Maybe it is like the visuals that some of the audio players have, but the listener is in control that makes this such great fun! Does anyone know if this type of thing could be loaded onto a screen in AW and played with or if it would be visible to others while one person controled the wire? If so....we would have marionette puppet shows in AW...yayyyy!...lol What great fun we all have here:) [View Quote] This is coolNov 6, 2005, 10:36am
Math ProblemNov 13, 2005, 9:18pm
Ok, I will now admit that I snuck through math in all of my school levels
and now have a problem with an exponent. The problem reads (4+1) little 2 for second power x 6-4 The answer I got was 50 but the book answer says 146. I have to take classes all the way to calculus so watch out...lol btw...thank you everyone for the kind offers to host my world. A very dear friend offered and will be hosting it. Math ProblemNov 13, 2005, 11:12pm
Thanks JerMe!
I was doing the obvious. I was taking 6-4 to multiply the 25 by which was 25x2...now I see how it works....thanks soooo much! I have to warn any of you upcoming students that if at any time your educational institution wants to let you out of math class to paint posters for events or work on theatre productions.....DON'T DO IT!:) [View Quote] Math ProblemNov 14, 2005, 11:44am

What pop up?
I have been using psp ever since psp5 I think and have never seen a popup? I really like psp for creating textures plus it has the picture tube tool that makes for great cake decorating, in fact, all of the cakes I made in the cakewalk area were made with psp. LOL...go get some rest and thanks tons!!!
I went to smarthinking.com to ask a tutor for the equation and unfortunately neither the algebra or statistics tutors could help me. You ought to apply there for a job! But I think their site is outsourced and you might need to speak another language, or 3:) This really helps tons! Well, I emailed my instructor and let him know that I would be doing that
assignment tomorrow morning. When I get back to that page it kicks up an error message on the ones that are wrong. I'll post the results after I get that done. I can't believe someone is paying tutors that can't tute!...lol Anyways, I really do appreciate the help. I took first year math last term, but it didn't cover anything like what was needed here. Over summer I need to practice on math because this degree requires that I go all the way to calculus...yikes! [View Quote] 5 days left on world is it worth me renewing?Apr 24, 2006, 2:32pm
Wow....I check into the ngs every once in a while nowadays...mostly for math
help...(Thanks to all you great mathematicians!) Anyways...I am curious about this thread... Ciena...are you designated as the beta spokesperson for beta testing now? Have you been asked to come to the ngs and answer questions and update folks? If so, might I make a few suggestions? 1. You as a beta tester represent others that are sharing in this task. 2. You as a possible self designated speaker for beta testers are representing a company also. 3. You as a beta tester are doing something for the company and the community and should perform as a representative of each with mannerisms that you would expect from a company and community. 4. You as a beta tester assisting a community should think about what you are saying in a public newsgroup before saying it. In all the posts I have read, I feel that the only one whining here is you. Maybe a repeated question is getting on your nerves. Maybe you might want to remind yourself of questions you have wanted answered in the past in a respectful manner. And just maybe you might want to ask whomever heads up beta testing today to enlighten you how to perform as a beta tester or ask that they remove you from the program if it is that irritating to you. I hope this gives you some insight as to what people accept and expect from a person contributing to a community. If you have any questions please let me know and I will attempt to help you out:) Sincerely, AlphaBit Phalpha <snip> 5 days left on world is it worth me renewing?Apr 24, 2006, 4:17pm
Well....all people have no common since...since common since doesn't even
exist! If you are sick of reading something then why even reply??? Or better yet...why even read it if it is making you sick? I surely understand about a person trying to get something through a person's thick head:) [View Quote] 5 days left on world is it worth me renewing?Apr 24, 2006, 4:28pm

I found out about AW from a school teacher. He knew I liked creative stuff
and suggested AW as another medium to create with. I decided to become a citizen about 20 minutes after landing in AW. I hadn't chatted or built yet, but I saw a wonderful place to spend my spare time (lol). I have remained a citizen since August of 1997. In my opinion there is no "best" feature of AW. All of the features are wonderful! If I had to state one though, I would say the ability to be able to paint a picture without having to clean up paint brushes is the best! I have created a few things in Activeworlds. My first build I deleted because it was pretty bizarre:) From there I have made a few lounges, and homes. Cy Pastures in AW world, I created for all of us post Cy folks that are put out to pasture now:) I am on version 56 (I think) of my world A'A which is now Nrthpole. It has been many things, but as soon as new objects or builds come out I am inspired to start again! I have also created some objects and avatars and a cakewalk area with textures for folks to make cakes from along with dreamer2 and cyberwitch. I spent a little while doing tech support for the Juno Dome. My biggest creation however, is the Cy Awards:) Well....I could go on forever about them, but it would become a novel...yikes! I don't go to too many other activities other than the Cys, but of all of the activities I have enjoyed the second most are the SW City activities. Those guys really know how to create and entertain! Oh...and I really loved the NG's Survivor! In conclusion I would like to say that AW wouldn't exist nor be entertaining without all of the wonderful people who are here:) CY nominations SOON!May 9, 2006, 3:16pm
Hi Sweets:)
I feel the need to input some information here that pertains to some information that was given to me first hand when I was organizing the Cys. When the Cys became rated they had to abide by the rules and involve only family related worlds. I can tell you that I spoke to a lawyer and was told that if my organization involved non family rated material in any way, and a non adult visited a non family rated world because they had learned about it from the Cys, I would be personally liable if a parent wanted to sue. When I learned of that, I let Gorean world owners know and most of them thanked me and also mentioned that they did NOT want to entice children to their worlds and would prefer not to be on a nomination list nor voting list. Some of them are parents also, and thoroughly appreciated our concern for theirs and others children. The onset of not allowing adult rated worlds into the Cys occurred when I found out about the Internet ratings that had been established, and had sought legal advice. You may also have noticed that is when AWI also had to add the world ratings box to their browser. I might suggest that if a person wishes to share their creativity with the community, perhaps loading their items into a world that can be rated to accommodate the masses? But only that world would be mentioned on any lists. I am sure you can understand the position the Cys have been put in with the implementation of rating laws on the Internet. I also don't think that X rated worlds are leaving Activeworlds because of the Cy Awards. I truly hope that you and others interested in submitting your creations can come up with a solution that will meet the Internet rating laws and be able to participate in future Cy Awards. Sincerely, AlphaBit Phalpha <snip> CY nominations SOON!May 9, 2006, 6:05pm
Well, I like and trust my lawyer so I will keep him and definitely take his
advice over yours unless you have legal documentation that proves otherwise on this issue? The rating password may cover Activeworlds, however, I refused to put myself or anyone involved in the Cys in a precarious situation. It surely sounds like your issue is more something to be taken up with the community as a whole. Please don't use the Cy Awards as the main issue here. Sweets, please talk to other X rated world owners and you will find that I truly respect and admire their creations. I understand and believe everyone in Activeworlds are people and deserve equal respect. What you are possibly experiencing is a dissing from people who are biased for their own reasons be it right or wrong. But issues like these need to be taken up with the parties concerned ok please? Thank you, Bit <snip> CY nominations SOON!May 9, 2006, 6:39pm
Well Sweets,
This is going nowhere now. If you are so concerned about adult rated worlds being acknowledged with an award, I suggest you get off your duff and start a new awards. Put up or shut up...please:) If I can be of any further assistance please let me know. BTW...I am in no way speaking as a Cy Awards representative. Just a concerned citizen. Bit <snip> CY nominations SOON!May 9, 2006, 7:03pm
And this is my final say;
Back when bingo existed IT was accused of being biased towards adult rated worlds. No matter what event, no matter what organization, if someone is offended during the event, or by someone who was present at the event...the event or organization gets blamed. I did the Cys for too many years to not recognize this. Seriously, take the persons that are dissing your concerns aside and invite them for tea or something. Talk to them and listen to them. You might be amazed at the outcome with some productive communication happening. I hope you don't pack up and leave. I don't know you, but you sound like a very caring and concerned person. Look at the whole picture. Think outside of the box. It works!:) Take care Sweets:) Bit <snip> CY nominations SOON!May 10, 2006, 2:42pm
Might I make a suggestion?
If you have a friend IRL who has children, ask them to come over and look at what is in your world both visually, sequences, and text chat and ask them if they feel it would be appropriate for their children. You might also want to do a search for a site that lists an explanation of the ratings. I used to have it. Anyone else out there have the link? <snip> |
