I'm beginning to think your AMD is the cause, Eep... I had a Cyrix 686/PR150
(now a P2/450 :) ) and AW ran "ok" on it... got sluggish (<2fps) in Tyrell's
area but then Tyrell's area is slow even on the 450... most of the time I
got a fairly decent 4fps at 40-50m vis... And AW *flies* on the 450, assuming
I'm, again, not in an area like Tyrell's where it's about the same as the
150 was anywhere else (but with higher vis - 60).

oh, BTW, all of this was using the regular non-MMX non-D3D non-DirectDraw
Renderware drivers, on both computers. I agree Renderware ain't a *decent*
3D engine, but it's *tolerable*, for now.

header and they'll be sorted by date - click it again to reverse the order
(i.e. oldest would be at the bottom instead of at the top)...

I think the turning speed is fine, although either a toggle switch for
something like you described, Eep, or a slider to set the speed (independent
of fps or possibly in sync with the toggle switch) would be a good feature
for some to have.

at least have it on a toggle switch then... and I still say a slider either
in addition to or seperate from the toggle switch for setting the speed
would be a nice feature. We have speed / acceleration settings for mice, so
why not for turning in AW?

I get 20fps in some spots near my AW 'home' (using D3D drivers on a TNT will
explain that), and while it is a tad fast, guess I'm either just used to it
or can live with it better than you and Eep can :)

And this doesn't change the fact that 32-bit values CAN be used in 16-bit,
even 8-bit, applications... I've used them on 286's in Pascal and 386's and
486's in C++, both in DOS. Of course, also used them on Win95/98 on Pentiums
:)

33.6 = 4.10K/sec max without compression
40.0 = 4.88K/sec
45.0 = 5.49K/sec
50.0 = 6.10K/sec
56k* = 6.84K/sec (* in the US where the FCC limits us to 53k, 6.47K/sec)

in some European countries, numbers are written like:

1.234,56

instead of (US and Britain):

1,234.56

Scientists (who need to be understood by scientists from other countries)
generally use a space instead of a comma or period to seperate each group of
3 numbers, so that no matter what is used for the decimal point, it is clear
that that is what it is, like so:

1 234.56
1 234,56

So Rolu meant 5.6568542... which come to think of it is still larger than 4
