There are two types of free.
Are you referring to libre or gratis? Objects makers in AWAug 18, 2005, 7:04am

From Wikipedia: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gratis_versus_Libre)
Gratis versus Libre is the distinction between no cost and freedom, a distinction not made by the word free in the English language. This distinction is of supreme importance in dealing with information as property. Gratis is a term in Latin and various Romance and Germanic languages meaning free, in the sense that one does not have to pay for some good or service (free of charge). Libre is a word in various Romance languages, e.g. Spanish and French (but not Latin itself, where the spelling is līber) that denotes the state of being free, as in "having freedom". Inanimate objects can't be free (libre)?
Go tell that to the open source software community :P Here's an example. Suppose you distribute your objects under the condition that anyone can redistribute those same objects completely without restrictions. Those objects now have freedom. Objects makers in AWAug 18, 2005, 11:03am

I'm just aware of the two seperate definitions of 'free'. Objects makers in AWAug 18, 2005, 12:43pm

I didn't quite understand what you just typed.
There are two distinct definitions for the word 'free' in English (If you disagree with this then argue with the entire GNU/Linux, BSD and OSS communities, not me). The word 'free' without any additional information regarding the particular type of free you are referring to is ambiguous. I am quite sure my interpretations of words or phrases such as 'Complimentary' and 'Free Trial' are different to yours, and that makes them inherently ambiguous. Free != free. Are higher res textures more likely to z-buffer?Aug 19, 2005, 5:19am

The z-buffer has nothing to do with textures.
(By the way, the phenomenon you see is usually referred to as 'z-buffer fighting' or 'z-buffer artifacts' not 'z-buffer' :P) For more information on z-buffering, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z-buffering Move CommandNov 16, 2005, 7:09pm

v4 object type rights. Not for everyone?Jun 1, 2006, 1:12am
It has come to my attention that the AWTeen management has set v4 object
rights to be available to everyone. I consider this a very very bad idea until some 4.1 issues have been sorted out. Did anyone around AWTeen GZ recently see any of these? -a giant Cy/Butch strolling around. -a blinding white light. -a picture flying around (with an arbitrary URL displayed) These were my doing (except for the picture, which was Ima), and can be done by anyone else who has v4 rights in AWTeen (everybody). I know you all want these features, but there's just too much room for abuse right now. v4 object type rights. Not for everyone?Jun 2, 2006, 2:49am

A few people I've communicated with seem to be under the impression that
I'm against enabling v4 rights for everyone. I'm only against that if there's no protection mechanisms in place (read my previous post carefully). I'd welcome all the wonders 4.1 has to offer in public worlds as long as some of the following things exist: -A bot protecting certain areas (such as ground zero) by removing movers (this cannot be done until the 4.1 SDK is out). -Fixes for certain bugs (will require updated world server and/or browser) Additionally, I've discovered more ways to annoy users (here's the complete list): -Forcing teleportation of other users (requires mover, AWTeen rules don't like this). -Forcing other users to go to arbitrary URLs (requires mover, opens up possibility of lots of MSIE-related attacks, BIG PROBLEM). -Forcing other users to listen to arbitrary sound clips (requires mover, may be restricted by AW audio download settings). -Annoy other users by filling their viewport with any colour or particle (requires mover to be mobile, still useful while stationary). -Annoy other users by dragging a object around with an arbitrary picture displayed (requires mover). -Annoy other users by having a really large object (really a particle) attached to your mover (requires mover, AWTeen rules don't like this). -Annoy other users by having lots of particles spraying everywhere (it's the first thing you do when you have access to particles :P). As you can see, denying movers in populated areas solves just about all of these problems. Might even be better if there was a server option to deny movers in a certain radius from GZ (restricted radius might be adequate). Undocumented feature (midi notes)Jun 7, 2006, 4:51am
If you look around in AWGate you might see a piano :D
It uses a new feature in 4.1 I can't really find any documentation for. Here's an example command to make it work: "activate midi instr=1 note=60" Instrument #1 happens to be a piano and note #60 is C4. The command can be made global with the global flag. There's a handy guide to which note numbers correspond to keyboard keys at Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:NoteNamesFrequenciesAndMidiNumbers.svg). You'll have to explore the instrument numbers for yourself ;) Undocumented feature (midi notes)Jun 7, 2006, 5:16am

Okay, I guess you don't have to explore them yourself :P
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_MIDI#Melodic_sounds) Additionally, it seems there's a time= flag that affects the note length and seems to be in milliseconds. Undocumented feature (midi notes)Jun 7, 2006, 5:31am
