Can you see if you can reproduce this bug?
Copyed from Beta group topic light command bug Browser version 3.4 build 486 CPU = P2 350 Mhz Video = Voodoo5 5500 Video memory 64 MB RAM = 128 MB This can be reproduced in any world. It only dose this in Direct3D with T&L and Direct3D without T&L, the other video modes are fine. Make a sign5.rwx and put this on it. create light type=spot angle=90 pitch=90 color=white brightness=1 radius=10 Next put walls around that sign and you will see 2 colors shinning from that object. That second color that you did not specify changes as you change the real color you wanted. That second color is also the negative look of the real color you picked. if you want it white +Z side -Z side black white if you want it red +Z side -Z side light blue red if you want it yellow +Z side -Z side dark blue yellow if you want it green +Z side -Z side purple green if you want it violet +Z side -Z side dark green violet I put a copy of the bug in awschool at 24.50s 6.20w 0.00a 177 There are 6 box's there all set up with a sign5.rwx in them, each with a diff color. It only dose this in Direct3D with and without T&L Both colors are equal in brightness. Only the color to the right is the one that is to be there. The one on the left I have no idea why that is there, there are no other lights around and the world lighting and fog is all white and the fog is off. www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/l1.jpg www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/l2.jpg www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/l3.jpg www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/l4.jpg www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/l5.jpg www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/l6.jpg imagineMay 10, 2003, 4:50pm
I went to awschool and I see your walls. I see a light on each one on the
south side and no light on the north side. I think that is the direction the world light goes. But I don't see 2 colors of light on any of the walls. Imagine [View Quote] bowenMay 10, 2003, 6:00pm
It's time to upgrade your card. You can get a nice GeForce2 MX card for
like $60-80. Certianly since Voodoo cards are hardly supported anymore it would be worthwhile purchase if you're going to continue to use software. -- --Bowen-- dlp anneMay 10, 2003, 8:22pm
I know.
When I bought this Voodoo card there was no warning that they where going out of business, then about 3 months later they did :-( I want something that is AGP, supports T&L, and that is equal to or better then the Voodoo5 5500 card. Just for information purposes, here are the specs for the Voodoo5 5500 www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/voodoo5_1.jpg www.ladyd.us/dlbn/temp/voodoo5_2.jpg [View Quote] bowenMay 10, 2003, 10:09pm

Hardware T&L is hard to come by these days unless you get a high end card.

I'm just gona go out and get a new video card due to all these Voodoo only
bugs that probably will never be fixed. To save me the trouble of buying a new card, finding out it don't work right with AW, returning it and trying another one till I find one that works right wasting time and gas running around. I am asking for help on picking one out. I don't know all the video cards 3.4 was tested on that make AW run best with little or no (this card only bugs). So out of all the video cards on this site what would be the best one or ones for AW? I don't have any set price range, I will save up for what is needed. http://www.compgeeks.com/products.asp?cat=VCD If none of these are good please list all recomendations. Thanks for all input. I do know I want AGP full Direct X support full OpenGL support T&L support DVD support TV support And all or more of the same features the Voodoo5 5500 has. bowenMay 10, 2003, 11:42pm

AGP or PCI are all available.
> full Direct X support _ANY_ video card on the market that even wants the slightest ability to compete with anyone needs this. > full OpenGL support All newer cards, that should be given any notice, will support this. > T&L support Newer cards will support this, hardware T&L that is. > DVD support This is not a "feature" of video cards. It's a media playback support. All video cards should be able to provide ample refresh rates for DVD unless you're on a 286 or something. > TV support TV support is really rare, but you will find some selection among the cards. My recommendation is the GeForce type cards. Maybe the Geforce4 TI4200 might be what you'd consider. Or any GeForce4 TI card. -- --Bowen-- dlp anneMay 11, 2003, 9:49am
What dose T&L stand for?
Just incase they use the full names and not shorten it by saying T&L. [View Quote] goober kingMay 11, 2003, 3:10pm

I suggest a GeForce 3 Ti200 if you want a minimum T&L, or a GeForce 4 MX440
if you want somthing more advanced. A Ti200 still plays almost everything that's been released "well". If you really wanna go for the performance/budget ratio, I suggest a GeForce 4 Ti4200. Links to all 3 are below. 64mb GF3 Ti200: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=3101,3677 $74 128mb GF3 Ti200: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=3101,3668 $88 64mb GF4 MX440: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=3104,3677 $55 128mb GF4 MX440: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=3104,3668 $71 64mb GF4 Ti4200 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=3107,3677 $107 128mb GF4 Ti4200 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=3107,3668 $120 All brands are created equal in this case. I have to advise against a Ti200 - support for those is waning, and the MX440 offers comperable performance. This coming summer is when you will start being unable to play (newly released) games on Ti200's and MX440's at respectable resolutions (1280x1024) and full detail at full framerates Newegg is the most reputable and one of the cheapest dealers on the Internet. I have over $60,000 worth of orders from them and have never had a problem that they didn't help me solve (Although there were a few instances where I got so angry at the hardware and did somthing rash like running it over with a truck, and they wouldn't take a return on it afterwards). The FedEx saver shipping that is free on 90% of their items equates to approximately 3 days coast-to-coast. [View Quote] codewarriorJul 7, 2003, 11:47pm
Quite the opposite. ATI, nVidia and Matrox all have hardware T&L.
You can find cards that don't? [View Quote] bowenJul 8, 2003, 3:29am

Perhaps you missed the "...these days..." and "...high end card."
_Usually_, off the shelf PC's do not contain these types of cards. They go for cheap OEM style products like from trident, or intel. -- --Bowen-- |
