Concerning The Game (General Discussion)
Concerning The Game // General Discussionthe game masterOct 16, 2002, 2:02pm
It has come to our attention that several posters to this group feel the
need to bash our game for trying to inform the same of our game world and what is going on there. Although we do enjoy getting responces to our postings, these individuals have, with no basis for their accusations and slander, taken it upon themselves to bash us. Many of these individuals have never even been to our game world or spoken with us prior to their unkind remarks. We expected more in the way of common sense and respect from AW citizens, being that we are new here. Before anyone passes judgement upon us and our game they should at the very least visit our web site or world and make personal contact with our many game masters. They will answer any legitimate concerns and/or question. We do realize that not all AW citizens met us with such distain. Many citizens have embraced us into the AW fold with open arms. Our registered players have had nothing but good things to say about our world and The Game in general. As to the prizes offered. They are 100% real. We opened The Game offering cash prizes, which will be paid, and are now on a points system. We are run by DASH Enterprises Inc.(and not an individual) which handles all prize-related grantings. We hope this will help you better understand who we are and what we are about. To register for and play games we offer is totally FREE. Thank you. GM Member #: 575 bowenOct 16, 2002, 2:11pm
Ok, ok, we get the picture. Just keep the stuff in General.discussion... maybe
community if it absolutely needs to be. Since you already told of the opening I don't see any other reason for it in the community newsgroup. Other than that, keep up the good work. --Bowen-- dionOct 16, 2002, 5:04pm
Please keep it to one newsgroup and not all of them. And if these posts that
"inform" us come up very often, it may be in your best interest to move them to a seperate newsgroup server or a web-based forum. Possibly an e-mail list. Another suggestion would be to put all information on this "The Game" stuff in it's own topic until that topic gets old. Perhaps you can create a new topic every week or something but it's rather annoying to see this "The Game" stuff overtaking the newsgroups. This is really kind of out of hand. You should know what kind of aggravation this can cause people. [View Quote] ncc 71854Oct 16, 2002, 10:58pm

The gift. I think that is more of a blue-law now. (one that's not enforced as long
as the gift is appropriate) --Bowen-- lord fettOct 17, 2002, 12:35am
Did you see their 2 page long rules and regulations page? It has so much stuff in there to cover them. It states in there that
if you are under the age of 18, that you have to have your parents or legal guadian fill out a form and they are the ones that claim the prizes that you win. [View Quote] strike rapierOct 17, 2002, 7:15pm
And how do they regulate this? They dont even have access to any info at all about anyone in AW.

It's called a "disclaimer statement" when you read the disclaimer and click
the usual "yes, to agree" that means that you agree to the requirements and have stated that you're 18 or over... or that you've gotten a parent to consent and sign up for you..... This IS a legal method of protecting themselves from breaking the law, since you are technically "signing" the agreement and stating, under penalty of law, that the information YOU provide is valid and correct and indemnify the company. This is essentially a legally binding "contract" between you and the company the minute you DO click that "yes, to agree" See, if you lie and it goes to court, it gets thrown out on the basis that you falsely provided proof of your age, etc. and they are not liable for any damages. In turn, you can even be charged with a crime "in extreme cases" FOR presenting false information about your identity, age, etc. etc. The company could even countersue you for the losses involved with the suit, eg. lost financial gain due to time required to appear in court, lost wages for any testifying employees, all legal fees (for the lawyer) and court costs.... And they would have a pretty darn good case against you, because you intentionally lied and misled them for your own gains, whatever they may be........ It pays to always read the "fine print" whenever you sign up for something, purchase a service, etc. etc. you'd be amazed at how you can be legally liable for the most stupid of things.......
