Could it be you don't have a 3D video card? I noticed that you never
mentioned what kind of video card you have. If you don't have a card
with 3D hardware acceleration capabilities, then software mode is going
to be the only one that works well...

The old ATI 3d rage pro for example has such a bad
OpenGL driver that even with a P2/400 software
rendering is at least twice as fast.

no problem, it's all a matter of what your computer doesn't have that makes
the problem in AW. DirectX 8.0a has a lot of bugs in it, ie network IPX
delays, vid refreshing messes up a lot, etc. Hope it works better now

that means your video card does not support D3D, I had that too before I
upgraded card. I can recommend a GeForce 2/3 card, they're very good and
don't cost all too much :-))

yeah unless your video card supports opengl, that mode sucks. But since for
me on D3D mode glass will disappear and certain object faces too I have to
suffer through not being able to see other people's chat above their
face...lmao and in windows XP RC2 half life looks best in OpenGL mode (in
d3d mode every other line is black O_O)...random quote that.
