gotta say i agree with sweets though. Outsider is just being a smartass.
And thing is i also hate them so called "tv stations". i just think if they put as much (well, maybe alittle more) effort into proper video streaming, then they could get something so much better. -SWE [View Quote] outsiderMay 13, 2005, 1:06am

The problem is, it's the same principle. Video, in any form, is still a
collection of still images. sw chrisMay 13, 2005, 5:19am
If you feel that you can afford to host a streaming media server for us and
buy all the equipment and build the sets for us to make a quality production, then feel free to start your own, not to mention world hosting fees. None of us have that kind of money to throw around. Otherwise, as they say in all of the video production websites that I hang out at, "Do it yourself and then we'll be impressed. Theory will get you nowhere if you don't apply it. And nobody will apply it for you." Chris [View Quote] ltbrentonMay 13, 2005, 6:47am
Blah, you only regret posting stuff after you've posted it. E N Z O - Give
us an edit feature! :-P As far as streaming video etc is concerned, I'm working on a way to get some decent shows done on streaming video, you can see one of my sets here: AWTeen 2199S 1065W 2A This show is also run every Monday as part of the AWTeen Events program. (note: cancelled from 16th May to 30th May) The future is here....with FFTV. -=LtBrenton=- [View Quote] kathryn delanuitMay 13, 2005, 12:20pm
Why do you use the word "sweet" in your name? I'm just curious :)
[View Quote] > Elyk............two words....first one begins with F....second is You > have a nice day > sweets > sweMay 13, 2005, 1:17pm
well in that case, we could just have a bot change the colour of an object,
and say we're streaming it pixel by pixel? hey, that's the same principle too... ya, it may be the same principle, but it's not the same thing, it's different, totally different. Don't argue just for the sake of proving someone else wrong. -SWE [View Quote] sweetsMay 13, 2005, 1:30pm

That was uncalled for, She's just asking a small thing about your name,
and you insult yourself by assuming she thinks your being a sissy by choosing sweets as a name. [View Quote] sweetsMay 13, 2005, 1:49pm
yeah and you word things so much more diplomatically, Strike. Basic 3 words
that totally stuck to the subject matter at hand 'deal with it". You see rather than slam me, Strike gave advice. Could learn maybe a bit about truth and diplomacy from Strike LMAO you see I can take advice, disagreement, debates, even insults....but what I cannot stand is someone butting in to a conversation just to tell me I am not nice, or sweet, that I shouldn't disagree, that I should not post unless I am in total agreement with the 'community'....I am Canadian not Communist and we are known for our big mouths and saying what we feel....sorry if that offends anyone but I am not changing my ways for any 'community' Vr or Real..... I had something to say. I said it. And from words of a wise man 'DEAL WITH IT' lmao sweets [View Quote] sweetsMay 13, 2005, 1:52pm
my name has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

No it's not totally different. Changing the color of an object isn't
streaming anything. Unless, of course, you're actually determining the pixels of each. A motion _picture_ is still a collection of frames. Frames are pictures, therefore they are the same. I guess you could throw this under a polymorphism debate. A motion picture is a motion picture, but it's also a collection of individual pictures. You can express it as both and be technically correct. Take a frame of a video, that's a picture is it not? Move to the next, still a picture isn't it? Now if you were to assemble the frames into a different layout, what would it be? A collection. Huzzah for semantics. veraMay 13, 2005, 2:55pm
wowwww hey Chris... TOUCHE:)))

There is a "cancel message" option after you have posted. Right click
your posted message and click "cancel" and it will delete it. You just have to do it quickly after you have posted, otherwise those who load your post will still see a blank post (similar to that when AWI deletes a post in the ng) when you cancel it. [View Quote] > Blah, you only regret posting stuff after you've posted it. E N Z O - Give > us an edit feature! :-P sweMay 13, 2005, 5:08pm
yes, and take the a bunch of pixels, stick them together, and you have a
picture. hell, everything is built of smaller things, but that arguement doesn't really hold, its not a reason not to have streaming video. proper streaming video, Hell, if you were to get technical, the pictures don't even have to change, and they'd still be TV, after all, television is just pictures coming from far away, nothing in it's name indications change, or animation. -SWE [View Quote] elykMay 13, 2005, 5:16pm
*shrug* that's why it's a community newsgroup.. people are going to
post their opinions on your debates/complaints/topics whether you like it or not. I never stated that you should like or be in full agreement with those that post in the ng's... and that first post of mine was just me kidding around.. hence the ":P" You are going to get people who are going to debate your debates / complaints, like Outsider did, whether it be sarcastic or not, and those who make joking comments or sarcastic comments in the ngs.. if you can't "deal with it," then don't read them ;) [View Quote] but what I cannot stand is someone butting in to a conversation just to tell me I am > not nice, or sweet, that I shouldn't disagree, that I should not post unless > I am in total agreement with the 'community' pc hamsterMay 25, 2005, 9:28pm
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] >I'm looking for some urls to some active television stations. Assuming >there are any, of course. :) I need four of them, and if you guys know of >any, please post their urls here. Thanks! Chris, when you log on next time, hop on ver to the Corporate Headquarters of Virtual Cable Inc. at 4900N 820E (on AW of course) and go up to the middle floor. You should a few more networks that way. That said though....In light of posts by others, I can see that I'll kost likely be on myself updating corporate HQ as the cable dial obviously nneds to be expanded to include all the new networks, so it's quite possible we could wind up crossing paths tonight Chris :). Though the cable expansion will be done once Channel 5 is brought back on the air and FBSTV is quite possibly moved off Channel 8 and shuffled onto cable (Been wanting to do that for months given the network's ties to AAWR and UETV being on Channel 4). In fact, while you're at it Chris, feel free to build a Virtual Cable Inc. office somewhere in SW City. Anyone with a town can do so. Doesn't really matter what you use to build it with as I'm not that particular, though it should have an area (ideally an entire floor) dedicated for the virtual call center (but this isn't required if you don't want it). :-) Highflier, you may want to plant yourself in front of a picture object sometime tonight and review your list for currency and accuracy. I say this because ABN is dead as is (sadly and ironically enough) VWTV. There's probably a few others on your list that are dead too. Anyhow....Cheers for now everyone :) PC Hamster Mayor - City Of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) http://hamsterville.tripod.com/ HAMSTERVILLE GROUND ZERO - AW 5029N 500E SKYPE ME at patspodcast pc hamsterMay 26, 2005, 1:44am
Hi everyone:
On 12 May 2005 11:01:32 -0500, "sweets" <stylecanin at videotron.ca> [View Quote] >you all keep saying 'tv station' 'tv station' but correct me if I am wrong, >since it is a long long time since I watched, TV but didn't TV have 'moving >pictures'. Yes it does HOWEVER...... >Sorry people but all of your 'TV stations' are a farce. Simple pictures >flashed one after another telling a story is NOT television, especially with >the new feature of media streaming which could make a 'TV station' worth >maybe looking at. You are confusing VIRTUAL REALITY with REAL LIFE. In a VR environment, TV isn't *supposed* to "move". That's the nature of the environment. Heck, even in the rest of cyberspace, you can't get true PROFESSIONAL BROADCAST quality TV on the Internet (unless you know of some websites no one else does). The best that can be done is STREAMING MEDIA (and even THAT can sometimes be challenging if combined with a VR environment). ActiveWorlds has only had truly integrated streaming media support and functionality for only a year (if even that long). And given the fact that it relies almost solely on a Windows environment, it should be a no-brainer as to why they chose Windows Media over proprietary RealMedia and other formats such as NSV and OGG Theora which are Open Source. Hope this helps in better explaining things :) Cheers for now :) PC Hamster Mayor - City Of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) http://hamsterville.tripod.com/ HAMSTERVILLE GROUND ZERO - AW 5029N 500E SKYPE ME at patspodcast pc hamsterMay 26, 2005, 2:40am
