Hi I was wondering is there a free Java program that allows you to make Java
programs? Cause I wanna try to build a program in Java. bowenJun 14, 2003, 6:20pm

Why would it have to be Java to build Java? Why not C++ to build Java?
The point of a programming language is to learn to program it yourself though? -- --Bowen-- elfkazJun 14, 2003, 6:23pm
The reason is I have tons of C and C++ books and never can build with them.
I can build with HTML and so I though I would try java so is there a free java program to build java programs [View Quote] the ladyJun 14, 2003, 7:18pm

Ignore Bowen. He's apparently more interested in nitpicking than helping. :P
You can download Sun's Java ONE Studio with Java 1.4.1 here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html [View Quote] -- Goober King Smacks Bowen with his helping hand awnews at awnews.org bowenJun 14, 2003, 7:58pm

It seems like he wants a WYSIWYG editor of sorts. Hence his response to
me with the HTML and not being able to get C and C++ to compile. -- --Bowen-- goober kingJun 14, 2003, 8:31pm
There's no such thing as a WYSIWYG editor for Java, unless you're
planning on making GUI applications. I think by "build" he means "compile", since he probably never found a C compiler. [View Quote] -- Goober King Building for the future awnews at awnews.org bowenJun 15, 2003, 4:23am

Well pardon me for not being able to read his mind. Not all of us have
the psionic prowess of you, Goob. -- --Bowen-- ananasJun 15, 2003, 6:40am
Java Runtime itself is free, you probably already have
it on your computer. Always a good ressource for stuff like editors, class browsers, compilers or IDEs : http://www.sourceforge.net elfkaz schrieb: > Hi I was wondering is there a free Java program that allows you to make Java > programs? You do realize that acting like an ass doesn't make you seem cool or something like that, right?

I think you'll find thats source code, not a compiler... though I guess it
will help him learn.... [View Quote] elfkazJun 16, 2003, 3:19pm
Ok all I asked if there was one. That is it I did not mean for youns to
read my mind bowen. Everytime I use C and C++ it does not go like I want it to go. C and C++ is too confusing for me too that is why I was looking for Java cause I think it will not be so confusing. [View Quote] bowenJun 16, 2003, 3:43pm

You're confusing me as it is, but, aren't Java and C/C++ based on the
same syntax? What doesn't go right? Do you forget your ;'s? Use non-standard libraries and can't get it to compile right the first time? :P -- --Bowen-- kahJun 16, 2003, 4:10pm

Well, think again. Java is entirely OOP so if you don't get C or C++, you won't get Java either. Maybe you confused Java with JS... KAH just inJun 18, 2003, 4:20am
