New Objects // Communityseiya fayeJan 26, 2003, 9:39pm
Greetings AW Users,
Have you ever noticed how water8tr.rwx or wat5at00.rwx would inline prefectly with a ceila1.rwx if only there were an object made their size? or how about a water5tr object? The water objects have 'see through' underparts which makes them unable to be used as adequate roof objects. Or how about in the AW world, where many many builders inhabit if they had a nice round ball-like object? or a wider array of cultural objects such as asian, western, medieval etc. I am sure many experienced builders would agree with me. I have also heard that objects for more advanced builders would make new builders feel unimportant, why not have an object based leveling system, for what level of building you think you would be at. Being that last year at this time we added many new objects, I think AW should at least give its fine builders some new objects for the AW world at least anually, based on a common poll maybe? Give me some professional feedback people, I love AW, but for building so much and paying so much, we should at least get an annual poll based object addition? -Love Seiya Faye strike rapierJan 26, 2003, 10:05pm
Go do something constructive... like post in the right damned Newsgroup...

Ok folks, here's a quick lesson in posting in the NGs:
1. Don't post while drunk 2. Don't post while you have a dead rat shoved up your ass 3. Don't post unless you're actually planning to read the post your replying to. Now class, who can tell me which of these rules Strike Rapier broke with this post? Anyone? While you're thinking about that, allow me to offer Strike some advice: Go do something constructive... like take some anger management courses... She was simply looking for what everyone else thought about the idea, hence asking the *community* about it. Besides, it has a better chance of getting read by the boys upstairs here than it does getting buried in the wishlist NG. :P [View Quote] -- Goober King The dead rat gooberking at utn.cjb.net strike rapierJan 27, 2003, 12:34am
Yes, but the boys upstairs are too busy to read anything at the moment...
lol.. 1) I wasnt drunk... 2) I havent noticed you up my ass? 3) I did, repeatedly.. then deducted the intent was to basically post and get everyone to read whatever she says. - Mark [View Quote] lord perceptionJan 27, 2003, 1:15am

Just skipping down to the last portion or your message here... > I think AW should at least give its > fine builders some new objects for the AW world at least anually, based on a > common poll maybe? Give me some professional feedback people, I love AW, but > for building so much and paying so much, we should at least get an annual > poll based object addition? That's what many of AlphaWorld's builders wanted... New objects to be added to AW's Object Path. But history has shown that a lot of these requests have been ignored. The only times I remember Objects were added to the AlphaWorld's was possibly some time in 2000, when Just In and TechnoZeus made some objects and submitted it to AWI. The second time, was after the pricing rises (2002 last year) , AWI dumped objects that was _Supposed_ to be destined for a new Buildworld into AlphaWorld (Possibly as a knew jerk reaction to calm down the masses enraged by the pricing increases) . As a result, complex and detailed objects were dumped in with AlphaWorld's existing rudimentary objects which IMO did not fit in at all well. What can be done is we do what Just In and TechnoZeus did back in 2000, gather / make a whole lot of objects together, review them for their suitability and submit them to AWI asking if they will add these objects in to AlphaWorld's object path. I agree we are paying quite a bit of money for a citizenship... and I feel the majority of AWI's build worlds alone are not really offering much in return. syntaxJan 27, 2003, 3:36am
One point to remember when asking for new objects in AW:
1. Everyone at AWC has the ___tightest ass___ when it comes to doing ANYTHING to Alphaworld. For what reason, I don't know!! >:-( I for one would love to see regular* updates for AW, such as skyboxes, objects etc. Look for an upcoming AWNews article regarding some of these issues. :-D *regular = not every 4 fucking years. -- - Syntax - http://www.swcity.net http://forum.swcity.net PS. Excuse my Canadian. :-P [View Quote] count draculaJan 27, 2003, 7:14am
Well things that happens every 4th fucking year are regular also. Regualrity
do not mean it needs to happen often, just with a certain time interval. For example; I clean my house regulary ( every second year). soooo, someone complaining about something is a community thing? emm, no,
dont think so... next, u think it would make a diffrence wheater or not the "boys upstairs" read the post? well, if u think it does, ur wrong. im pretty sure they dont give 2 shits what anyone wants. now goober, some advice: Go do something contructive...like getting a life! -SWE agent1Jan 27, 2003, 2:03pm

And this coming from someone who can't even type properly. Right, *I'm*
the one that needs a life... Maybe if you had actually *read* her post, you would have noticed that she wasn't complaining, she was looking for feedback and trying to get a sense of what the community felt about the issue. Last I checked, that's what the NGs were for: Discussing a topic, not looking for every opportunity to cry about someone who's actually trying to start a decent conversation in here. Heaven forfend if that were to happen! [View Quote] -- Goober King Now returning you to your regularly scheduled life, already in progress gooberking at utn.cjb.net strike rapierJan 27, 2003, 4:39pm

I've yet to notice ANY regular patterns in AWC's behavior towards AW Prime
(except the pattern that involves them NOT having any behavior towards AW Prime). Oh, and every 2nd/4th year? Where I come from, we call that a *rarity*, my son. lol, so because i make a couple of typos, i need a life? lol, that just
shows how pathetic u really are, basing everything on the internet. no, the reason you need a life is because your a nerd who has no friends, and has probably not been out since... well ever! and, this isnt the place for posts asking people for feedback either. as for "that's what the NGs were for: Discussing a topic" well, you're right about that, but maybe you are forgetting that there are groups, and each post belongs in a specific group, you cant just put everything in the community one! -SWE [View Quote] sw comitJan 28, 2003, 4:58pm
It pissed me off that we're paying much much more money for AW and still not
getting updates for Alphaworld. Or even the browser itself for that matter. Hasn't it been 13 months now since the last browser update? It use to be 6 months -_- And what ever happened to their plan to break up browser releases by a feature by feature semi-monthly updates? =\ [View Quote] goober kingJan 28, 2003, 6:58pm
Needless to say, it got scrapped after they kept coming up with "one
more feature" they had to put in... :P [View Quote] -- Goober King One more feature gooberking at utn.cjb.net lord perceptionJan 28, 2003, 7:40pm

Ugh... *downloads 130 posts from the last 2 days*
Yup, I will agree with you on that one, that's why I eventually made the move to AWTeen. I was losing interest mucking around in a world that didn't seem to be progressing. Then 2002 comes around and we are slapped with a huge pricing increase and very little in return for paying a higher price, by moving to AWTeen at least I was able to use many of AW's browsers features that weren't available in other AWI worlds. Practically if you are _just_ a citizen who doesn't own a world of any sort, you are relying on AWI's public build worlds. Anyway, it looks like I've got another problem to deal with now [Mostly a rehash of what I said at awnews.org] ... Many of my AW friends that I make don't seem to stick around at all long and my Time Zone really doesn't help. Log in during my evening (NZ) time zone and you will see only 100-150 people online, and most are locked in their own little worlds. AW prime's GZ is DEAD and you only have the [games bot] for company. If there isn't the people, it's just isn't fun anymore, as a result I've noticed that I'm now only logging into my account on average, every 5-7 days and often when I do log in, I immediately go urghhhh, and log off knowing that there is very little chance of meeting up with anyone except tourists (that seem to only possess a vocabulary of 4 letter words) at the AWGate running around handing out insults. It's beginning to feel like you are building on a standalone application disconnected from the Internet and I've also noticed that I spend much more time in these Newsgroups and other AW related forums than in the AW program itself. Anyway, I've decided that I will let my citizenship lapse later on this year, with the intention of picking it up again at a later date, (provided _If_AW's development _Ever_ actually picks up and the online population grows again that is). Although I have a 1 year extension still up my sleeve, I've decided not to use it yet as there is really no point if I don't log in much anymore. sw comitJan 28, 2003, 10:40pm
You can pop to the sw city forums if you wanna find some people in your time
zone. The community is straight from australian to scottland ;D Too bad there's not many english speaking countries betwen AU and SL though =P [View Quote] |
