Once again, I don't see it as a problem at all but rather a positive catalyst for change... and as for some people believing every word of it, I suppose that's possible, but I got a bit of a laugh out of the part that says you can't change your clothes in real life. :)

Or, enzo could contact each reporter who's written an article about 2nd
life, and say "Hey, why the hype about Second Life? AW is already here!
Come see us!". Then the reporters will write wonderful, wonderful stories
about AW, the people who *would have been* interested come to AW, when 2nd
life is released they're already engaged and invested in AW and don't want
to make the move, and we all live happily ever after. And... this wouldn't
cost a single penny.
Actually, enzo doesn't have to contact the reporters... any of us could.

Was wondering what you would think of that post :)
I think i'll agree with you..its like everyone else that has come out of the
woodwork with a "killer 3D app" - none of them have really made any sort of
presence, and as I said, for as long as I know you have something to do with
AW it'll never get sold off for scrap or anything :)
You did you try the SimOnline beta? I could never get mien to patch
properly....I am going on hearsay really - it does look interesting though,
you must admit...perhaps when it is out of beta it will be better, who
knows...
Hang on a second, are Linden the same guys that we first heard about two
years ago? *smacks head*...why do I always fail to make connections like
that.
But again, we'll see...vapour trail or not :)

Yeah. Let's beat Second Life with our better program. They probly know about
AW cause all the ideas in the game are from AW and the flying is like AW.

Actually we would do better to hype a 4.0 which has so many more features
maybe even the NEW IMPROVED AS SEEN ON TV AND THE AW 5.1 XBOX version
release. :)
The Gamespy article and the Time article were obviously taken from the same
PR piece that was handed them. The reporters have not seen anything and are
certainly not "beta" testers. So far no one has seen anything. On our
roadshow analysts asked about the new Linden Labs stuff... that was 2 years
ago.
PR about vaporware only generates interest from investors who don't check
their facts. Unless you follow up with a GREAT release you end up with a
lot of unhappy people. AW has done a lot of PR in the past and it was
always about "real" products and projects. We are trying to contact the
reporters but frankly, reporters who didn't check their source don't like
having it pointed out. It would be better to have members of the community
contact the editors of the pieces. That might get some notice. Give em
links to your pages and teleports to your builds. After all, both the Sims
Online and the SL articles basically say none of you exist and you haven't
been chatting, Iming and living and creating cyberspace for the past 8
years.

Agreed. If you get AW onto the xbox (this is no joke) you could basically
implement everything. Like play from the xbox and AW. You'd get alot of
money for the buying of xbox console.

It was a joke. To show that in PR anyone can say anything if it gets peoples
interest and the people are to lazy to check if its true.
BTW... I do have a great little bridge in NYC between Manhattan and
Brooklyn, it only needs a little paint on a few rust spots, I think it's
worth about $10 mil, I was gonna sell it on Ebay... If you want to buy it I
can give you a better deal... we could use that money to start the XBOX
client ASAP

Because Active Worlds has been around long enough not to need publicity stunts that would only backfire in the long run anyway, or claims of things that we can look supposedly look forward to in the near future such as the nude avatars so many people are now expecting to see on stage at a popular event next year. We have a "real" on-line community. There are real people here doing real things. Some play games. Some do business. Some just pass the time. Some build. Some study. Some teach. Some only come to talk with friends, and some people spend time in Active Worlds for different reasons every day. If we want to get Active Worlds some extra attention, there's no need to exploit people's tendancies to believe things without proof, because we're not short on proof. On the other hand, if such tendancies are exploited by someone to take the attention away from Active Worlds, that will only work with "some" of the people, and in my opinion those that is doesn't work as well with tend to be nicer to have on our side anyway. :)
